I looked into it, and it doesn't correspond to any promotional images from Dokkan or anything else; it's clearly something new.

I found it. But the image is so small and low res that it's hard to see the writing on the top.

Are we sure it isn't a fanmade? I know some artists like xenosgalla who can make shockingly convincing art.

There are so many talented fans out there that there's honestly no way to tell until whatever they're working on is announced. I like to believe that if there's enough smoke somewhere, then chances are there's a fire, so I think it's safe to assume something related to Super will be announced next month.

DB and Z are both good, while Super is...mixed, to put it nicely. I just think that Super would benefit more from such a remake.

Because everyone thinks the original series is the peak of Dragon Ball and a timeless classic, whereas a common criticism of Super is that it looks ugly. And that's often a deal breaker for classic fans who want to get into Super but are turned off by the ugly artwork.

Why would a "remake of the first DB anime" be much better? The "first DB anime" doesn't need a remake - it's aged like fine wine. Original Dragon Ball has stood the test of time.

As for Super... after I started watching other new gen anime like My Hero Academia, I can't deny:

Super has aged like rotten milk.

So yes, Super indeed needs a remake more than the original series.

The only thing the classic series need is a proper remaster and color correct; no need to remake something that isn't broken. Why would you spend so much time and resources on remaking something that's already really good and faithful to the manga ?

As for Super... after I started watching other new gen anime like My Hero Academia, I can't deny: Super has aged like rotten milk.

A remake with consistent scripts would go a very long way in improving Super's reputation. If the Super we have blew up despite its flaws, just how big can a Super that's actually good be ?

Honestly, I love the og db and Z.. I just hate the filler and ugly drawings by ebisawa and uchiyama. But from what I've seen, Z Recut and db recut are pretty much what I want and I don't expect a Kai 2.0 ever, so I guess I'd take a full hq remake with spiffy new animation. So if we got one and it wasn't half assed in some way or one nagging thing taking me out of it (seems to always happen with everything I like these days) I'd be down.

Imagine, that you might get the Future Trunks arc, but miles better!
Always rooting for your Zamasu fanship and I mean it without any irony.

To be honest, I could've forget about the abysmal writing in Super, if at least the visual part of the production was watchable.
That is something I came to realize quite recently, when rewatching Daima in binge. The miniseries looked spectacular, no contest,
and I was bothered less by non-realized potential like better characterization of Gomah and making him more interesting, as otherwise the writing with blatant overexposure and retcons was actually good and while the climax was boring IMHO, it was beautiful to look at, so I still enjoyed it. Nothing like Pilaf and co. as kids like it was always the case or let's play rock, paper, scissors from Director's Cut, which was funny quick gag, why not making the gag a whole episode of stiff animation.
Not to mention plotholes etc. Or that crazy weird dramaturgy of their time travel in the Future Trunks arc arc and nonsense about how time rings work, which by the way was actually explained in elligible way in Sparking Zero's story mode.
Even the Universe 6 Tournament arc wouldn't look like cheap flash animation dump, if you haven't read the manga version.

If it's not Kai approach, but a way to rectify Super, I am up for it. Make the pacing better, sensible writing and better prep and time management for the overall production. I still don't see a way to top the Battle Of God Director's cut, but you have the potential to always make it better, or use the same stuff that was great and worked before and build around it.

I totally agree with you. Although Daima had its issues, especially towards the end, the visuals went a long way to minimizing the negative impact they had on my overall experience. The thing is, I don't know how realistic it is for us to expect this hypothetical Super remake to look like Daima, as it took the staff over 3 years to make it look as good as it did.
