Uh, ok I dont think it'd make much of a difference but I'll do it for one image that I didnt use in the above shots...

Season 1' screen shot looks as if FUNi only brighten then sharpen the colors. Only reason I say the DragonBox still wins is the fact they actually cleaned up the film unlike FUNi. And the proof is on these screen shots. Look at that white dot in between Gohan and Yajorbe on Seaon 1's screen shot. Now look at the DragonBox shot.

Thank you! DragonBax wins!!!!!!!!!

Plus, WIDESCREEN STILL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is that not good?

BTW, I found a clip of the season one opening

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GFQmqbXDBk
*Sigh* And for some reason, I wanted them to use the UUE opening >.>
Oh well. Least they're going for consistency. I imagine they'll be using this for the Cell and Buu arcs as well?
Going onto the opening, at least they didn't give us an extended version of 'rock the dragon' or something.
You know, I always imagined that being a Japanese song with lyrics. NO kidding.
Anyone have hte full thing?
Of Rock the Dragon? I don't think it exists =P I'm pretty sure the one for Budokai was just edited.

Thanks! :D Don't get me wrong, the ones you did are a great comparison, I just think it's easier to compare this way.

Ya, I wanted them to use the UUE them too or at least think up some new theme song.

you know, I feel sorry for those poor people who worked on "remastering" the series and get this much heat just because Japan did a better job. THese guys probably tried at least a tiny bit.

Try comparing it with shots from the episodes and not the opening song. Here's a bootleg shot from the creditless version of the Dragon Box, which hasn't been remastered.

For some reason the colors in episodes are a lot colder, but this is only the case during the intro.

The bootleg appears to have been heavily filtered and colour-adjusted, making it worthless as a representation of the Dragon Box DVDs.

The colors look fine to me.

Obviously thats not the case, there is far less grain on the season 1 shots.

And you can prove this by presenting an actual Dragon Box screenshot, yes? (In which case the bootleg screenshot is still needless.)

Nope, they ran a blur/DVNR filter over it and changed the color temperature at the very least. It's also probably compressed more, which means more artifacting.

Bootlegs = not FTW.

Not of this shot. But visit this page if you want an explanation http://db.schuby.org/daizex/viewtopic.p ... &start=240
Read DBW's post.

Check out the extra on your Dragonbox, that DBW is talking about. That's where the bootleg shot is from.

Read DBW's post.
Eh? DBW doesn't mention any bootlegs, and all his screenshots are from the actual R2 DVDs (and clearly look totally different to your bootleg screenshot). Am I missing something?

In any case, it's been well-established here that screenshots of bootlegs have no place in the discussion.

I don't think you get my intention. I don't want you to compare this to my shot, I just showed it to prove that the intro during episodes on the dragonbox has a different color temperature. That's why I'm asking someone to compare a Dragonbox image with a Season 1 image, but not from the intro.

That's a fair enough point. I guess posting the bootleg screenshot just obscured your point rather than helping it.
