Dragon Ball Online on the way

Are Human and Namekian the only races still confirmed?
(When was Beta Testing supposed to start in Korea?)
And somewhere in there I got an idea that just might (not) work... *looks for someone to PM it to* *settles for the vacuum of space*

If there was, I think SOMEONE on here would have caught wind of it.Anonymous Friend wrote:Being that the new topic about this game was closed and redirected here, is there any new news about this game? It's been so long that we talked about it that I had forgotten that it existed.
I'm eager for more, too. Hope the project didn't get canned or something...

I'd honestly prefer an offline RPG. MMOs are unpleasant, immature and unconvincing experiences at the best of times (did that respectable looking dwarf just say "LOLOLOL D00D!!!11"?), populated as they are by mouth-breathers living vicariously through their avatar that takes no skill to level up, just time; the one thing they have plently of. Given the nature of a lot of DBZ's fanbase (15 year old Linkin Park fans) it's really going to bring the worst of out of the genre, and the genre will bring the worst out of the fanbase.
That said, I am still interested just because the RPG genre and DBZ are two of my favourite things so they have the potential to put me in geek heaven, particularly if the character customisation is open enough and the world is varied enough. I don't really like the idea of endless temperate/desert/tundra wastelands with 5 functionally identical cities (as is the standard for MMORPGs) but if they can represent the character and liveliness of the DBZ world well and create an atmospheric world I think I'll be able to get over the armies of 15 year old virgins trying to get the attention of fat girls from Iowa.

I would be dissapointed if you could be Saiyan. Seing as Toriyama-san seems to be sticking to a canon of sorts (seemingally ignoring GT, heh) then making an extinct race a playable option would be silly - simply because everyone would want to be one! I think that if Saiyans did make a playable appearance there should be some kind of cap - like you can only make a Saiyan Charactor through a long standing achievement within the game.SSJmole wrote:I admit I love dbz and MMO games , but I wont get this if it is turns out to be true that you can not be Saiyan.
I know I'm gonna be Namek class. Green is best.

Your right, considering I would be one of the flock to be a Saiyan. However, I do think that some would still opt for other races. There would also need to be a limit on how high power levels are to begin with. I think starting with a random power level would be good for Saiyans. Kakarot was born with 2, Broly with 10,000. I think it would be all right. One might consider hybrids... I would imagine there would be as many hybrids if possible as pure Saiyans.

Vegeta needs some love. <3

I highly doubt that the game is going to fit into the canon story. If you look at Star Wars Galaxies, which takes place after Episode 4, players can become Jedi, even though Jedi are supposed to be (almost) extinct.Rocketman wrote:Even though there are no more Saiyans?SSJmole wrote:I admit I love dbz and MMO games , but I wont get this if it is turns out to be true that you can not be Saiyan.

Humpski wrote:Why would you want to be one of the sheep and pick a saiyan like everyone else? Human for me! Kuririn is my idol.
Because I prefer the saiyans. Sorry if that makes me a "Sheep" or what ever. Also considering how much of Z revolves around them It makes no sense not to have them.
It would be like if Marvel Universe that's coming out says "Well everyone would want to be a superhero/villain so we are leaving them out"
Well, in Marvel we have an excuse: mutancy is pretty common from the looks of it, so having a lot of random mutants and humans mixed together would fit into the series.
With DBO, we'd be banking on a lot of random Saiyan DNA in the population, which is pushing it...
but really, the only difference between Human and Saiyans is that Saiyans have more transformations, more natural ki control, and auto-evolving-recovery-zenkai-thingies. And tails. So really... Saiyans would be a) unfair, and... they'd be visually limited, I'd imagine, what with how similar a lot of saiyans tend to look, whereas there is a lot more liberty in appearance for humans.
But I still think they'll work in some saiyan-ness somehow. It'd be nice though if they don't have a lot of Goku and Vegeta clones running around going SSJ all over the place.

I imagine the game turning out to be something really incestual, to the sound of "Everyone is Goku or Hurcules ancestor!". It would be great fun for the Freudian psychoanalysts out therecaejones wrote:Well, in Marvel we have an excuse: mutancy is pretty common from the looks of it, so having a lot of random mutants and humans mixed together would fit into the series.
