Why 72 ? it's kind of an uneven number, why not 70 or 75 ?
72 is probably the safer bet. A cour is traditionally 13 episodes, but can fall short due to things like holidays or special broadcasts. We're about to reach the end of our third cour with Super and we'll have missed 3 episodes (1 during the first cour and 2 during the third). That averages us out to 12 episodes per cour, and 72 is divisible by 12.

Were they Sunday morning anime ? based on what I know, 9 am shows like DB & OP are made to go on for as long as possible so something like DB that's getting it's 1st series in 18 years is going to get milked till it's dry with or without Toriyama.
Yeah. Super's time slot is specifically meant for long running (and preferably popular) series, not those that are only meant to run for a cour or two. I'm not sure how much they would bother with a project if there was no intention to try and run it for at least a year. Much, much longer if it proves successful enough to merch sales.

My anime watching experience was always Toonami after school...

Same here! I also remember and I believe it was Cartoon Network playing DBZ around 5 or 6 in the morning. Didn't have school until like 8 30 but when I woke up around 5 I'd always check to see if it was on. Goku was always on Snake way though.
I saw anime on the Sci-Fi channel before Toonami was even a thing. I was lucky enough to watch anime at a young age. Anyways, I think Super reaching over 100 episodes is possible. As long if Super is selling well, we could see Super last until 2020.

I had the exact same exposure. Saturday Anime in 95-96, Akira, Dominion Tank Police, Gal Force, Tenchi Muyo, Vampire Hunter D...all the bloody sexy anime an 11 year-old wanted. And then there was that fateful morning I stumbled upon the WB or something and saw this one armed green guy gathering light in his fingers to blast an armored monkey tailed weirdo....oh yes, that was all it took.
Super lasting more than 100 episodes kind of rubs me the wrong way. I don't know why. They already wasted 25 episodes on crappy movie adaptions, so who knows what they'll do.

The one thing I do not want them to reveal is 3 fights for Vegeta as that is too much.
Yeah. We don't need any more Vegeta pandering. Honestly I hope Frost is Vegeta's only win. Hell, I want him to lose to Frost, but I know that won't happen.

And I hope Vegeta wins the whole thing, well him or Hit.

looking at past schedules, I believe we're free of breaks until June, so the next cour should end on episode 49.
It could be the series' end, but i doubt that. In any case, it's gonna be probably a turning point.
If we enter April and no new series' announcement is made, it's safe to assume Super will run past June.
Vegeta beating three whole opponent's in a row would ridiculous. I like Vegeta as much as the next guy, but he's gotten plenty of spotlight lately. Monaka is a completely new character that we know very little about, so if anything I would like to see what he can do.
Retan wrote:Is there a popular manga that toei wants to screw over with their production values?
I believe nothing even close to deserve the Dream 9 timeslot is available. The last successful Jump title (My Hero Academia) was taken by Bones. Digimon is having movies...so unless Toei comes up with a huge original anime or game adaptation that no one's expecting and use the next three months to hype the hell out of it, they have no logical reason to replace DB. Especially when everyone involved just started celebrating the 30th anniversary...

Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
