For IGN, CyberConnect2 (precisely Hiroshi Matsuyama, CEO of that company) has expressed themselves about Dragon Ball when interviewed in Paris (French language exclusivity as far as I know, given the location).

Here is the translation about the whole part of the interview concerning DB (WARNING - spoilers for those who don't know about the ending to Naruto Shippuden):

Q: In France, there are many fans of Naruto. But another series is still extremely popular: Dragon Ball Z. As you guys are passionate about mangas, and since you've developped - in parallel to Naruto - the fighting game Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, how would you feel about being in charge of a DBZ game?

A: We're very busy with Naruto and we absolutely love what Dimps has done with Dragon Ball Xenoverse. They really made a high quality product. Bandai Namco really has done an amazing job and I can only invite them to keep going like this. As far as we are concerned, we really are about Naruto and we keep going on that path. We're very proud of it. But it's my turn to ask that question to fans: what would you expect if our studio does end up developping a Dragon Ball Z game?

Q: Well, for a start, I'd like to see the impressive scale of some epic scenes in your previous games: I keep an amazing memory of Kyubi burning Konoha. Dragon Ball Z really is gold for that kind of excessiveness.

A: So it would be necessary to work more on the direction, staging and dramatization?

Q: Absolutely. The way CyberConnect2 can tell the Naruto story is excellent, it's better than even the anime itself sometimes. I'd like the same to happen with a Dragon Ball game.

A: Many thanks, that's a remark that really touches my heart, it's something that is very important to us. For the rest, I'll definitely make sure to tell my friends at Bandai Namco. [laughs]

Q: But if I mention Dragon Ball, it's also for your studio's own good. [laughs] Naruto is coming to a stop, what could you possibly use to keep going? [laughs] Maybe Naruto's son Boruto?

A: [laughs] Hard to say what's coming next, since we really are onto Naruto Ultimate Ninja STORM 4, and we still have work to do on it, so we still need your support on Naruto!

I kinda like QTE in some of my story games. Asura's wrath being one of the best

If they were to make 3 games, (DB, Z and GT) and go in order, I might be willing to give them a chance.

I'd still buy a Z game by them, if they started with that (which would be the logical choice, sadly) but in no hurry at all.

That really would be the best solution actually, a DB only game with a gameplay in the style of either Ninja Storm or Jojo's All Star Battle can work since the series was mostly about grounded martial arts. Add in Mob battles from Storm 3 for the parts do need it and the amazing Story execution found in the mainline Storms, it would be amazing.

Yeah, I kinda like it, it's fun if not used exaggeratedly. At least CyberConnect2 would probably make the Story Mode to begin where it should always begins... With Bardock vs Freeza, maybe giving even more detail to it.

That apart, I'm interesting in seeing how they would handle the controls.
