Yeah, I mean, look at "300."

I know this movie won't have as much CGI as 300, but it will have enough to make Mexico look dragonballish.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Sorry discussing something a little late, but if Faulconer did the score, that would certainly be reason enough for me to skip out on this film. As a fan who was first introduced to the dub, then discovered the Japanese version, I could never watch the dub again for two reasons, one of which was the offensively poor bgm.

I would hope that if this movie is supposed to have a hundred million dollar budget that they would find a composer whose talent is proportional to the budget.

They'll be too stupid to hire Falconer, let alone use the Japanese music. At least doing one of those would make a few people happy.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Goku should have been a ripped, martial arts superstar for this movie. Tis bad casting. Goku's never been a weakling during his entire life. Even when he was a little kid, he was tanking bullets and throwing cars, and karate chopping giant boulders. HE's never been a pushover, and he's never been unpopular.
Goku wasn't all that muscular until around the time he went Super Saiya-jin against Freeza. Considering this is a Dragonball movie they picked well.
What? Then maybe Goku won't even be a highschool student. Maybe Son Gohan won't get killed by Piccolo's ninja. I had no idea the Montreal thing was false. Maybe Chud.com's character synopsis was all false after all...but still wouldn't explain casting a non-buff teen to play Goku.
The Canada stuff wasn't false. It was just the earliest information. They changed filming locations, that's all. Probably cause it's cheaper and there's more open landscapes like what they need down in Mexico. The casting of a 'non-buff teen' to play Goku is explained by the fact that Goku was no where near 'buff' when he fought Piccolo.
Re: palace of Kami Sama-- though I find it hard to believe that Kami will be much involved, I could see it beingg the setting for the "tournament of champions" mentioned by Chud.com.
That was my first thought when I saw the image. It looks like the Budokai stadium from Dragonball.
Seems kinda small if they are gonna do the Tenkaichi Budokai. I'd expect a lot more than 1000 people would be in the audience.
Are you serious? They were lucky to have 500 spectators at the tournaments during Dragonball. They didn't even bother with stands back then. It wasn't exactly the most popular thing on Earth. Not like after the Cell Games.

He was plenty muscular for a kid his age.

look at those arms.

Not to mention, Chatwin has never played any role other then a "troubled teen". This is something Goku has never been before. I could understand you saying you have no problem with this casting, but to say "they picked well" is just absurd.

Yeah the casting is decent, with the exception of Chi-Chi (but hopefully she is not a huge pain)... but they definitely could have done better.

On the bright side, they could have picked much worse.

yeah I would say casting is decent although when I received the news of Bulma being played by Emmy Rossum I threw a fit and went haywire, but I really think no one would have been good enough to play one of my favorite characters. We fans tend to be real picky. Right now I am ok with Chatwin, but I wonder what´s gonna happen when they do DBZ and all of a sudden I find out who plays Vegeta (sometime in the future I would presume this will indeed happen), I am sure NO ONE will be good enough in my eyes and I will end up damn pissed.

I mean, I have had to make my peace with Chatwin, just cause those angel eyes do remind me of Goku´s, but who else could´ve been good enough. As much as I thought about it, I just couldn´t come up with anyone. :(

I feel the same way about Vegeta. I can't imagine anyone being able to pull him off.

Chatwin's going to have to prove himself before I can accept him as Goku though. >_> He's the only one I'm unhappy with, casting wise.

I'd say thats more "chubby" than muscular. Kuririn looked like that too, and so did Kid Gohan. I think thats just the way Toriyama drew them back then.(Until Goten and Kid Trunks came along.)

Dragon Ball Movie Toys?

Happy 2008! There are a lot of new movies (and, therefore, a lot of new toys) that we're looking forward to this year. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Dark Knight (the latest in the Batman franchise), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Star Trek, Dragonball, WALL-E and, of course, High School Musical 3 are all on the list. And, even though it doesn't come out until 2009, you can get Halo 3 action figures this year (they get officially released in March.) Keep checking back for more info about toys inspired by the Big Screen. -- ECM

And then this confirms my suspicion that maybe we will even be seeing Dragonball: The Movie: The Video game, and even Dragonball: The Movie, American comic books as well?

Of course. Happens with just about every movie. Hell, they're just NOW making (or already made) a Ghostbusters for the Wii.

I want new shirts. Almost all my old dbz shirts are man-sized. >_O
Maybe something with Toriyama-drawn Goku and Chi-Chi on Kinto'un?
*nudges whatever company makes printed tees*

Of course I want said shirts to contain normal db-artwork, not crazy live-action photos. >_>

Interesting tidbit. Maybe we'll get some photos of the figures before a teaser is even released for the film. It happened with Spider-man 3 I believe.

That's right, now that you mention it. The first image of Venom actually was from a figure.

Yeah, and it freaked everyone out, cause Venom had the physique of Spider-Man . Then, they released a picture of a Venom statue, which sadly, was better than the movie version's Venom (appearance-wise).

Anyway, I hope that we'll be seeing the Dragonball characters in their original attire.

A) Those aren't muscles.
B) That's no where near 'buff'.

Goku, up until around the Namek stuff, was never more toned or defined than the average person.
