I guess it's possible with how Toriyama was involved in DBO's plot, and they came from there, but I don't know if I really want to see them again or not.

On the other hand, DBO gave purpose to a good chunk of the supporting cast; but I don't know how you'd get from "police officer Krillin" to "heads a dojo Krillin"; and they'd also have to be willing to age-up Trunks and Goten finally.

I just want to go someplace fresh and new though. I'm so wary of (even though Future Trunks is one of my favorites) an arc where we go back to Earth again, even if it's Future Trunks' Earth, when there's an entire Universe 6 stretched out before the characters to explore.

Oh, but Trunks wouldn't automatically mean a return to Earth. He could be, say, warning them that changing places with U6 was a terrible idea, in the likely possibility of U7 losing the tournament. It's just an example that could trigger new scenarios for the continuation of this arc.

Technically, you're right in that Oob also counts as a character "from the future", if we take it literally. And he was even mentioned in Super already.
But they would need a timeskip for that, wouldn't them? Unless we just see a very small Oob making a cameo, protecting his village or something.

That would be better; I just want them to explore Universe 6 so much. I'm fine with them bringing Future Trunks along for the ride; just as long as we don't spend another arc in Bulma's backyard when there are loads of new places to see.

Future Trunks is one of my all time favorite characters, but if he comes back I hope it actually means something. I like some fan service, but I'm also completely satisfied with his story. I don't even know what would compel him to go back to the current timeline (unless some new threat shows up there and he needs a way to get stronger), but maybe the group from the present actually needs something from him? Maybe they need to go on an adventure of some sort and need more recruits? Maybe they need medicine again? Who knows! I just hope something intriguing comes out of it.

I'm not surprised that Goku & Vegeta won't be surpassing Beerus/Whis anytime soon, but that also means this new form won't be here anytime soon......does this imply that there are going to be over 100 episodes in Dragon Ball Super? Damn the implications............

This interview has delivered! I can't wait till Herms translates everything else, seems so interesting.

My theory is that Future Trunks probably goes too forward in time, as opposed to backwards, and somehow this relates to the Super Dragon Balls....maybe he prophesises the end of the Universe? I have no clue but this would make Dragon Ball Super at least as serious as Z....I can't waiitttttttttttttt!!

Cool that Goku is still below Beerus and Whis. I do wonder if Future Trunks returns, it's something fresh and original. Please no cyborgs or robots from Dr. Gero or the RR Army. How times can we repeat the same thing over again? We had #13-15, Super #13, #16-19, Dr. Gero, Cell and Super 17. I think that's enough if you ask me. Also could they do a new cyborg or life form from Dr. Gero or RR Army (if it happens) without doing a repeat of Cell or #17-18.

I think Dragon Ball Super will run for a long time to come.....just based on the potential it has and the hints which are given in the interview.

I found it interesting how Toriyama says he doesn't have plans for it "currently". That implies it's either that Super is a work in progress for him or he's not done with the franchise and plans to write more in the future.
