Very cool. Here's a link to the North American version of the site for those of you interested in ordering (the above is the Chinese site which won't ship internationally). Free shipping, too! -tinlunlau wrote:Hong Kong bluray is now up for pre-order!

Yeah, I figured I was having a hard time trying to pre-order earlier this morning but I got it pre-ordered now.VegettoEX wrote:Very cool. I wonder if the Cantonese dub will keep TVB's Dragon Ball Kai dub actors. Those guys did a good job (except Vegeta, he sounded kinda preppy. It's like putting a young 20 year old's voice on a middle aged man). The old Cantonese Vegeta voice was better.

Holy hell, that's an awesome price. Will have to wait until about two weeks, but completely and utterly bought.

I already have the Limited Edition DVD, but I just got a PS3 and will hopefully get an HDTV to go with it this Black Friday so I'm double dipping for the HD and subs. I'll have bought this movie three times by the time the inevitable Funimation release comes out. I guess rebuying things time and again is a part of being a Dragon Ball fan.

That's a great price... I live in the UK though. Does anybody know whether this will work on a UK PS3, and if so how much would postage etc be?
Any help appreciated, of course.

That's one great price. I will be pre-ordering this.

Nope. The listing for the Hong Kong version is Blu-Ray region A, and the UK is part of region B. While the PS3 is region free on games, it is region locked on Blu-Rays.BlackCatScott wrote:That's a great price... I live in the UK though. If the subtitles on this Hong Kong release will be any good, then I'll probably buy the DVD version. If not, I'll just wait for the possible release from FUNi.
So i hope that as soon as someone here gets his copy, he'll share his thoughts with the rest of us

I just hope that specs on the audio is just tentative. I'd prefer it if the audio was at least, in DTS-HD 7.1. Dolby Digital 5.1 just doesn't cut it for bluray! I guess that is why it's being released on a single layered bluray disc.

£11 for the DVD, you bet your ass I'm buying that. I'll have the Funi movie boxsets soon hopefully too, so I'll have a load of DBZ movies to watch. :3

I know a-lot of people may disagree with me on this opinion but I was just sitting here thinking about this. I like Chris Sabat as a voice actor and as the voice of Vegeta. But I'm not sure he'll be able to pull off the comedic scene in Battle of Gods. This is just saying that Funimation even releases the movie. I dunno...I just have a feeling that he couldn't pull it off.

We missed out on Chris Sabat's Vegeta singing in Kai, but they better not just leave it in Japanese if they ever dub this movie.

I think for each dub of the movie that part will get dubbed, I know for sure since I've seen people upload bad camera versions of that scene from the Latino Spanish dub. So, I'd assume most languages would dub it since it would go against the purpose of a dub there. The Time Traveller wrote:We missed out on Chris Sabat's Vegeta singing in Kai, but they better not just leave it in Japanese if they ever dub this movie.

I also like Chris Sabat's Vegeta, but I agree that his voice for the character is far too gruff and abrasive to be able to pull off a singing performance.samuraix123 wrote:I know a-lot of people may disagree with me on this opinion but I was just sitting here thinking about this. Then again, the point of the scene is how awkward is it for Vegeta to sing and dance, so maybe just the sheer badness of the singing could still make the scene work in a dub.

He can do comedic roles. Listen to him as Masa in My Bride Is A Mermaidsamuraix123 wrote:I know a-lot of people may disagree with me on this opinion but I was just sitting here thinking about this. Seeing how Beers's response is basically "Damn he sucks at singing. Whis, you may have just met your match," I'd say that yes, Chris Sabat doing an awful job at singing not only could work for this scene, it would actually be a perfect adaptation of it.theoriginalbilis wrote:Then again, the point of the scene is how awkward is it for Vegeta to sing and dance, so maybe just the sheer badness of the singing could still make the scene work in a dub.

That's exactly why I think it'll work fine too, yeah. The only real difference will be that, even though it's supposed to be awkward because it's Vegeta singing, Horikawa still sounds kinda pleasant there. But with the point of the scene to be how awkward it is, I think however Sabat does it will probably be fine.theoriginalbilis wrote:Then again, the point of the scene is how awkward is it for Vegeta to sing and dance, so maybe just the sheer badness of the singing could still make the scene work in a dub.
Heck, a bit of a different situation, but Sonny Strait is a pretty good singer actually, and he was able to ham it up nicely in movie 8's bit with Kuririn's singing badly.

I'd say just wait, if you buy it and it doesn't work that'd kind of suck. We need someone to test it on a UK PS3 first.BlackCatScott wrote:That's a great price... I live in the UK though. Does anybody know whether this will work on a UK PS3, and if so how much would postage etc be?

Here's some interesting information:
Saiga wrote:It had English subtitles, and they were good english. Not entirely sure about the accuracy but I've seen some Kanzenshuu trandlations of lines in the movie and the film festival subs were mostly the same.
sangofe wrote:Hey, was it raw or subtitled in English? And if subtitled, were the subs good?

Saiga wrote:Well, I'm a little late in posting, but I saw this movie on October 20th when it aired up in Brisbane as part of the Japan Film Festival.
I'm glad I was spoiled on all the plot important details beforehand, because my expectations were set low enough that I was able to come away without being disappointed. It would have sucked going all the way to Brisbane to see it without being ready for that.![]()
Anyway, the movie hadn't changed my opinion on anything I thought going into it. I still didn't like the Godly ki, or Super Saiyan God, etc. The only thing this movie had for me was the gags and character interactions, which were enjoyable (and also, the thing I hadn't been completely spoiled on). Even knowing some of Beers' quirks before-hand, his personality still surprised me, and I think he was given an excellent personality without being too quirky. Even Whis was enjoyable despite not doing much. The moment Kaio and Goku drove around his dinky little planet had the audience laughing harder than any other scene or gag in the movie.![]()
I feel the movie really lost a lot of it's humour once it got to Bulma's birthday party, but some of the moments were still funny. Once the fighting started, and the plot took centre stage, I was completely uninterested. It didn't help that I had already seen everyone vs Beers to know it was going to be bland before hand. And even as a big fan of Vegeta, his spotlight just really left a bad taste in my mouth.
The Goku and Beers battle... just really sucked, to me. From the start to the very finish, it was the lowest point of the movie for me. I was glad once it was over, and that the movie had some more interactions after that (Goku's teasting of Vegeta was funny). The credits were really cool.
Also, I don't know if anyone else who saw this in theatres got this, but at my theatre there was a message from Masakazu Morita (Whis' VA) before the film started. I didn't even know he was voicing Whis at that point, so I was pretty damn surprised to find that out right before the movie.![]()
Definitely agree that this didn't feel like a movie. Just felt like a very long special... one that refused to end once the fighting started.
Overall, my opinion of the film hasn't changed much, if at all. But at least I was able to enjoy the bits that I enjoyed out of it, rather than nothing. I'm not sure if I can watch this again once (well, if) it gets dubbed by FUNi, though.
