Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

... I would like to say that's fake because I've never heard of it or recall Kanzenshuu reporting on it, but then that means someone went through the trouble of plastic wrapping it and doing a mock-up of the legitimate Roadshow and KFC campaign.

I'm fairly sure that that's real, actually. During KFC's Promotion of the film, there were a range of prizes you could win by collecting a bunch of stamps or something. These included things like a poster for the film and some other stuff- which I can't remember right now.
Will have to check the original news posts to confirm this, though (so much stuff happened in the lead-up to the release of BOG; it's hard to keep track of it all). Writing this on an iPod right now, so I'll do that later.

Between 28 February 2013 and 24 April 2013, if you buy one of the Dragon Bottle meals or one of the Dragon Ball toy Smile Sets, you will get a stamp. Collect seven stamps, and you can be entered in a chance to win one of 777 sets that include a “Dragon Radar”-shaped detector item and seven Dragon Ball keychains that react by sounding a buzzer when the detector is brought close. At the same time, if you are one of the first 200 people to submit your seven stamps at a given KFC location, you will be given a free Battle of Gods poster — it is specifically noted as a “KFC Original Poster”, but the image provided is just of the theatrical poster.

I hope FUNi/Fox somehow gets KFC to campaign for the film when it comes over here....that would be incredibly awesome.

So, I guess the idea for Goku to absorb the God power was Toriyama's, so that Super Saiyan Goku can shine in the final battle instead of Super Saiyan 3 or Super Saiyan God Goku.Akira Toriyama wrote:As a fan, the fact that “everyone’s here” of the characters who appeared in Dragon Ball is really something to be happy about!
The only parts I really wanted to have in there were the God of Destruction and Super Saiyan, as well as everyone being there. Although the truth is, I wanted to bring out each individual character even more.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

It would be cool, but I don't think it ever happen. They won't have the money to have someone like big like KFC market the movie and BOG won't have a major release here in the US anyways.Big Momma wrote:I hope FUNi/Fox somehow gets KFC to campaign for the film when it comes over here....that would be incredibly awesome.

Seems like Battle of Gods coming to Italy has escaped the Kanzenshuu radar?

I could swear we would have never got it here in Italy. Especially since our Goku voice actor died and for some reason Italy dubbing companies here hate recasting characters
Anyone knows if this is real? If so i can't wait! Hopefully they can get back every voice actor from the original broadcast! (Except Goku and Frieza... their VAs are dead... God i will miss them they were amazing
If it's true i will go see it on theaters with my girlfriend!

Anyone get that Battle of Gods custom theme on PS3? The one that came with the digital purchase on JP PSN? Really curious to see what it looks like, haven't been able to find images, or video of it anywhere yet.
While I'm here, got my copy of the HK Blu-ray from Play-Asia yesterday. Took just a day short of three weeks to get here. Feels great to finally own a physical copy of this!

I'm still waiting for mine from yesasia. They say they sent it out on November 23rd but still no word on delivery yet. This is really irritating. It's never taken this long for me to receive my online purchases at other times. The Doc wrote:Anyone get that Battle of Gods custom theme on PS3? Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I watched them movie again and it is good, especially when compared to a lot of other anime movies like the Fairy tail movie I saw yesterday.
I liked Bills, I liked the fights, I liked the Super Saiyan God, I liked that it opened doors for any future sequels, I liked that it felt like a proper continutaion of the show.
But it was a tad kiddy overall. They really shouldn't have had Pilaf and co in it, they shouldn't have had Vegeta acting goofy, there were a few things that didn't make much sense like how King Kai's planet came back and the whole procedure of becoming a SSJ God and them using the fetus of Pan was just stupid.
Edit: Oh and I also didn't like how Goku reverted to ordinary Super Saiyan during the fight. The SSJ God was the big thing for this movie and it didn't even take part in the best part of the fight.
I'd give it a 7. I don't think they'd ever be as violent or intense as the show used to be.

It should. They were using this game as a way to cast the characters before the film, so I imagine the names would roll over as well.TheGmGoken wrote:Which means Beerus for movie perhaps. The name I would say is rather definite - if that's what they're calling him in an English release of this game, then it's pretty much gotta be what they'd use for the movie.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:It should. It's worth noting that the voices could conceivably change though, depending on circumstances. They could change their minds later, or it could come down to actor availability. For example, when we got One Piece: Unlimited Adventure for the Wii over here, we had a few castings like Aaron Dismuke for young Zoro and Mike McFarland for Bon Clay. Dismuke's voice changed by the time they got to dubbing the episodes with young Zoro, and McFarland discovered that Barry Yandell's take was a lot better.
Not that I'm saying they won't keep the same voices as the game, as that would be ideal from their POV - it's just not entirely confirmable, especially since FUNi doesn't even have the rights to the movie yet.
