Oh God don't even say that hahaha

I would be sooooooooooooooo mad if I got these and Funimation decided to cancel them like they did the level sets and ultimate uncut. but I'd say this release will probably be like the orange bricks. people will buy them up. and I might get the first season just to see it and If it looks a little better than the orange bricks, I'll just give my set to my brother.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Well, that certainly lightened my mood up today! Hopefully Manga UK could pick it up after GT

The only downside is the art style they chose has Freeza and Bulma look like different people meh

Only if Freeza looks at Vegeta, then the spine arts would feel natural. Clearly, they don't know how to draw poses properly, which is sad because drawing poses properly is a very basic thing for a beginner artist.

As I thought, the cover arts link together. A shame considering how sub par the actual product is. Id happily buy a single poster or scroll of all the cover arts together though.

The cover art is lookin' pretty sweet, though some of the characters look a bit off.
Still highly doubtful I'll buy this release unless we get the 4:3 picture or improved Japanese audio, but I wouldn't mind picking up a poster of that art.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Looking at the larger picture above I noticed something -- we're talking 10 episodes per disc. That somewhat confirms the picture quality. It must be extremely cleaned up (i.e. DNRed) if they hope to use 10 episodes per disc and maintain any type of decent picture quality. DB Kai was cleaned up (cleaned up well, in my opinion), but I think it only have 7 or 8 episodes per disc. These will have 10 eps and possibly 3 audio tracks? Something smells...

The level sets had extremely grainy footage which doesn't compress well at all and they contained 9 episodes per disc. So they're squeezing an additional episode onto 3 of the 4 discs, the 4th disc will still contain 9 episodes. So while there will be a video bit rate hit I wouldn't expect anything to drastic.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

The set with Freeza looks off to me.

"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

9 eps per disc? Hmm... for some reason I was thinking it was 6. My bad. You're right though - grainy sources don't compress well and need extra bitrate. Some of the levels set has blocking due to the lower than needed bitrates.

Weren't the Kai discs that way, too? I seem to remember it being super weird and the two-disc sets being, like, 9 episodes and 4 episodes per disc, respectively.

I believe that the reason the final set of kai which contained only nine episodes had the episodes spread among two discs was because Funimation used two single layer BD 25's as apposed to using a Double layer BD 50.

I know some were like that. But my original points was Kai doesn't have much grain and didn't need as much bitrate (which it doesn't). These discs are using the same logic by using more episodes per disc.

What are the 4 disc sets like? 9 episodes, 4 episodes, 9 episodes, 4 episodes?

Oh jeez that box art. It makes me feel all funny inside.
But then again, who displays their games and movies like that? Does anybody? I don't have that kind of free shelf space to devote to Another Dragon Ball Z Collection (TM); all of it is taken up by those chunky Funimation singles, and they get filed away like normal DVDs.

Not really. There's a whole formula to what makes a good pose (Line of action, showing weight, etc) that even someone who's been drawing for years can still struggle with.
However, I will agree that at least getting Freeza to at least look at Vegeta should be a very simple task.

I think Freeza is looking at Raditz. You know, with longing.
