^And with that goes away all my interest. The HARDCORE font often clashes with the title cards, and the new titles are often so ridiculous. Oh well, time to go get DBoxes 6 and 7. I honestly wouldn't give a rat's ass if the titles were accurate translations like Kai's, but they're not. So... no sale.

Yeah, no Japanese title cards means no buy for me. I don't know why, put the kanji titles Is just part of the magic, you know? It's why I went to the trouble of hunting down all of dragon ball via the saga sets and gt via the singles.

Still, for the fans who are less obsessive, I do think it's neat that funi is putting out such a quality product this time. They didn't really make the dragon boxes, they just redistributed them, so I think it's safe to say they've never treated the material this well before.

I have a question. Not that I'm interested in picking these up in any way, I'm just curious.

Is CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA retained as the OP theme in the dub w/ JP score, like on the DBoxes, or was it replaced with Mark Menza's DBZ theme, like on the orange bricks?

This has definitely put me off any consideration on getting it. The picture quality is great but the loss of japanese title cards (don't really like FUNimation's custom cards) and next episode previews just doesn't make it worth it. I've already ordered the final Dragon Box anyway so that'll be the end of Z for me.

Hmm...I never realized the title cards were all that important. Then again, I always either skipp all that stuff or watch it in marathon mode.

Well, if one is going to refuse to buy something because violence or nudity is edited, one may as well refuse to buy because any one frame have been knowingly altered.

The show is my only intrust, not title cards or previews. So it does not bother me. Marathon play is relay cool to me. just gets rid of ever ting but the show. Kind of like a movie.

But...it's the episode title card. I never particularly saw that as even remotely important.

I'm not against the translation of the cards, but the revision. Don't lump me in with the group who's against them entirely translating anything ever.

I'm mainly referring to how it seems to be a complete deal breaker to some people. I didn't think that it particularly mattered one way or another.

Abandon your worldly desires and seek objectivity, grasshopper. :P

At least, that's my reasoning for wanting every single last frame unaltered. "If I'm going to complain about censored violence, I should complain about other replaced frames."

Then again, I still break down and begrudgingly buy FUNi's releases of other shows which do have replaced title cards and the like, so take my words as you will.

I think this sums up exactly how you guys feel about the title cards

Hmm, were they redone in HD? I was wondering if they were going to do that, I'd always considered the possibility that the original English cards were rendered in SD as computer graphics. The font is certainly less obnoxious than it used to be... don't let dub fans know though, or youtube will go crazy.

Interesting! They must have more than 1 version of the opening with this footage. Does it jitter, or is it just me?

I can clearly tell that's movie-one's opening with the credits painted out of the OP-1-specific scenes, and scenes from textless OP-2 (ones that carried over from OP-1) spliced in.

Notice how on the title screen, a small white symbol appears in the lower right. That's something you only see in the movies. The TV episodes' openings don't have it.

Don't get me wrong, the effort FUNi is putting into having the correct OP animation of each episode is appreciated, I'm just sayin'...

Well I guess they needed some way to reproduce the first opening animation... they created their own textless versios for GT's endings too because TOEi would not release them / lost them.
