It's not an insult if we are saying there don't need to be TWO dub tracks at the cost of picture quality.LeprikanGT wrote:I'm not INSULTING the JP music, I'm just saying its not my cup of tea....but 95% of you ARE insulting the Dub music.
Seems pretty contradictory to me.
Dragon Box to include BOTH dub tracks?
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
Music does not have feelings. Stop acting like not enjoying it is a personal attack on you. And, you did insult the original score. Or someone else did, at least. I heard the word "wimpy."LeprikanGT wrote:I'm not INSULTING the JP music, I'm just saying its not my cup of tea....but 95% of you ARE insulting the Dub music.

It also wasn't an insult for Leprikan to say he thought it was boring either. But, oh wait, it's the precious Japanese score, nobody can say anything about it.laserkid wrote:It's also not an insult to say that we don't like it, or feel it doesn't fit the show well, but you people keep taking it as one.

Not at all. Is it really so wrong for people to be annoyed though when they're finally supposed to be getting a fully consistent and high quality release, only to find that it might be handicapped by the inclusion of the audio track for an audience that's already been served repeatedly? I don't think so.jjgp1112 wrote:Is it really so wrong to NOT LIKE the Japanese score or think it's crappy music or think it doesn't fit the show?

Innagadadavida wrote:Well, I guess I would be one of those that you find so amusing. I claimed in the past that I liked my season sets. I like them because they're cheap, they're consistent, and as far as I knew, they were the best option available. The only conclusion that I can deduce from this is that the season sets were just an atrocious release to begin with. It may have been the best at the moment but it was still the best in the category of bad releases. The Dragonbox is in a whole nother class of release. If it wasn’t you wouldn’t be interested in it. Look at it this way, there were mice who said that they won’t be going after that cheese because they already know that at the end of the maze the passage is locked, and there were mice who searched anyway and wasted their energy. Now that the passage has opened all the mice are searching for the cheese.
By saying this I didn’t contribute much to this particular thread, but I just took the privilege and opportunity to point out (once again) how bad the season sets are.

When I first mentioned insults of the score, I was speaking in the context of what you guys were saying Leprikan's comments were. You guys are acting just as butthurt as we allegedly do over him saying that the Japanese score is boring or wimpy.laserkid wrote:So wait, if we disagree with his opinion, that's also insulting him? Jesus you people get butthurt way too easily.
Face it: You guys are just as bad as we are. It's just that since there's less of us and most of us dubbies don't really have the balls to say certain things (well, at least I don't), we see less instances of you guys being "butthurt."

Uhh... No. I'm pretty sure that's an issue that's been covered multiple times in this thread. Here, I'll quote a post where I mentioned the issue. Highlighted in bold.Raki wrote:That's the issue that keeps getting danced around.
Innagadadavida wrote:Yes, in a perfect world, nobody should be "shunned." A perfect release is one that makes all parties happy. Regardless of who received the short end of the stick in the past. Yes it sucks that FUNimation has mostly catered to dub fans in the past, but just because they're trying to make up for their mistakes doesn't mean they should drop their bread and butter. They're a company. They're not in the business to be awesome. They're in the business to make money.
But for all intents and purposes, I don't believe FUNimation has ever tried to purposefully "shun" anybody. I think it has been a matter of misunderstanding in the past. I don't think they released the orange bricks to piss people off. I think they honestly believed everybody would like it. Also they've had Japanese language and subs on all their releases since they started doing their own DVDs.
No, the season sets are not a bad release. It depends on what you're looking for. If you wanted an affordable, decent looking, bi-lingual consistent release, then the season sets fulfill those wants perfectly. The season sets were never released to compete with the Dragon Boxes so there's not a whole lot to gain from comparing them. You don't compare string cheese to Rogue River Blue. But if you want a quick little snack that's tasty and cheesy, string cheese will satisfy any little hungry mouse.Son Wukong wrote:The only conclusion that I can deduce from this is that the season sets were just an atrocious release to begin with. I don't recall anyone stating "ARGH OVAR NINE THOUSAND MACHOO YELLIINGGG INTENSE MUSIC WIDESCREEEENNN ARRRRRRRRGGHHH!!!!!! MAAAANLY GOKU!!!!"jjgp1112 wrote:And now you see why some of us "act like crybabies" when we see childish insults of the Faulconer music. That would be the equivalent of going "NOOO GOKU SOUNDS LIEK A GURL AND DAH MOOSIC SUX AND IT'S BORING!!!!"
I'm not saying that people here haven't acted as the former, but it hasn't happened in this thread so far.

I feel the opposite. The silent gaps inbetween certain scenes build tension.LeprikanGT wrote:I just feel that the ""rock"" sounding music over orchestra music FOR ME fits better for a show with that much action and fighting.
Where do we go from here? I really don't know. This is being aimed at fans of the Japanese version. It's great you feel that way, but it's just irrelevant to the situation.

Not you. I read your posts. I'm typing of jjpg1112 and LeprikanGT who haven't addressed it. If having one too many dub track hampers quality, is it necessary or worth it?Innagadadavida wrote:Uhh... No, it's not worth it. But I'm not entirely convinced that it's going to hamper the quality. And if it does, FUNimation can easily up the disc count. The draw of this release is the quality, after all.Raki wrote:Not you. I read your posts. I'm typing of jjpg1112 and LeprikanGT who haven't addressed it. If they don't have enough space for two dubs, then they should include the music that's actually PART of the dub and not an addition added to a box set 5 years after the dub was finished.Raki wrote:Not you. And like I said, the discs are probably already encoded at this point, so what are we even arguing about?

No one cried "wah wah Leprikan is being mean" - we just argued he was wrong. They, for unknown reasons, don't seem to care. Hopefully, this accusation will get them to stop backtracking to "ur a sub-snob" arguments.Raki wrote:Not you. I read your posts.
