Now I am not trying to get on your bad side, I am really not. But isn't fair if a select few people get to know that we should all be able to know? I mean if there is no point in knowing and just waiting for it to air on Nicktoons, why do you guys have to know then? I just don't see why everyone else can't know who the voice is if the select few can know.

Because somebody can get their ass fired, that is why. People have said far more publically than they should have. They shouldn't even have
spoken of knowing any secret.

If that truly was the case, then shouldn't he have gotten fired when he told the 50 or so people in the room he was in?

Let me give you a scenario:
Imagine you worked for Apple, who's security is one of the most tightest in the world. You were one of the few selected to see one of their newest products that can revolutionize the modern world. Those select people have been sworn to secrecy by Steve Jobs himself saying that any word of the product (by word I mean the actual name of the product and specs) gets out, it's your jobs that get taken away. Now job-wise, you'd keep your mouth shut because it's your job, and sure you can say something like "it's gonna revolutionize the technological world" but nothing else, because you could face repercussions like being jobless, and maybe something worse if it may happen.
To many of us, knowing something that others don't is a great feeling. Yes we may give hints to others, but that's of course going to happen, and it gives us something to think about. The best thing we can do as people who don't know is to just wait and see for ourselves.
END RANT.

And because when something is told in confidentiality you don't go around telling people. I told a total of five people, all of them work on my staff, and I told four of them in just the last week as it's seemed inevitable that this will be leaking out and I trust them all very much and none of them have said a word. This spread like wildfire from somewhere though, and it's a little annoying to me for this reason:
We were treated to something very special at Tora-Con, a REAL convention panel. I've never been able to say I've been to a REAL panel...a panel without cameras, videocameras, a panel without people asking can you say "It's Over 9000," a panel where someone didn't ask did you like playing "Character A" more than "Character B" or something along those lines. It was a real conversation with real people. We won't tell anyone so that voice actors won't be afraid to open up a bit to the fans. If this got out, then you can kiss uncensored panels and more importantly REAL panels good bye. By breaking a certain silence, you're really ruining it for yourself.
It's not that anyone would get fired, but people could get in trouble. Don't ruin the experience for others, for Dragonball Z Kai or for conventions, just sit back and wait a week or two.

What Zach said.
To add to that, long story short, a few of the people in that room felt like "(that) was what cons USED to be" where they COULD tell us insider info like that, without it spreading online. The part about Freeza's new actor was even kinda just budged outta Chris, similar to how Sean was very under-the-breath about "...should we talk about Freeza?" so I don't even think it was intended to talk about at first, it just sorta came out. We don't wanna get him or anybody in trouble, we don't wanna get -ourselves- in trouble. Like I said before, all of what we've said have been hints so we're not held responsible but you guys can "figure it out" for yourselves. Just...think of it like Fight Club, you know the first rule.
Also for the record, no I have not heard it myself. I've heard of how good it is FROM a few people, and can make an educated guess based on my familiarity with the actor's voice, but I've not physically heard anything.

I like the hypothetical idea of Chris Sabat having to fire himself.
Not that I *want* him removed from the production of the series (I happen to think he's pretty good at certain things), but just the very idea of having to can his own arse is really funny.
Back to your regularly-scheduled fandom speculation.

I assume it would be his superiors (Cook or Hunter) that would have to 'fire' him.

I don't think the concern here is Chris getting fired, though some here don't seem to understand that, but the main crux of the problem is that he still could get in some trouble for leaking it. Kirbopher is correct in saying it's not something he meant to necessarily reveal in April, but it's something he said in confidentiality. Since it's Chris' studio doing a lot of the leg work, of course he's safe, but on my end at least it's still something that should be kept under the belt.

If it matters so much to people, bug FUNimation about revealing the name. If they receive an overwhelming amount of response then they might give.

I don't think that's funny, I think that's pretty cool. I mean, I guess it's kind of funny, but mostly cool. The fact that he's giving up some paychecks in a business that doesn't pay that well to begin with is kind of admirable. It proves that he cares about the show.

Well, he's typically the head director/producer of
Dragon Ball, and FUNimation uses his studio for
Dragon Ball dubs nowadays, so he's not really losing money per sé. Espicially when he can just use up the 'lost time' doing better takes for the roles he has retained.

Well, in the event that there is any kind of trouble with Chris caused by this discussion, then I at least won't post anymore. I guess I'll just end my posts on this thread with a question--what episode of Kai does Freeza first speak (excluding, of course, his evil laugh in episode 1)? I'll be sure to catch it on TV when it airs.

Anybody able to post a link to the interview for us non-American YouTubers?

That's no in their business model. A lot of their marketing comes from the revealing of their dub casts when promoting new shows. If they reveal actors before the time that has been set, THEN there's trouble. It seems more like the issue of knowing Freeza will BE recast isn't an issue as much as saying who will be voicing the character itself being a cause for trouble.

Couldn't tell it was a man? Does this mean he'll be playing it like Linda?
I'm not gonna get too excited until I hear it... Young's replacement is definitely a good thing either way, of course.

But it's Chris Ayres right?
And I agree with what a couple people have said, if people (both within and outwith Funi) weren't going around saying "I KNOW SOMETHING YOU DON'T WHAT IS IT SPECULATE" then there wouldn't have
been any speculation. Not to mention some of the people told "confidentially" whose "hints" have pretty much spelled out who it is.
EDIT: Just realised how silly a thing it is to keep a closely-guarded top-secret confidential piece of information: a voice for a cartoon alien.
