BleedingCool News claims Toriyama is writing new Dragon Ball
Re: BleedingCool News claims Toriyama is writing new Dragon Ball
'Remake'? When was this reported news ever about this comic being a 'remake'? :p
Re: BleedingCool News claims Toriyama is writing new Dragon Ball
Yeah, that`s kind of weird. The article never said remake. So technically, the article could still be true and the Shueisha representatives would not be lying by saying that any rumor stating that there would be a remake of DB by Toriyama is false.JulieYBM wrote:'Remake'? GX is only based on the Duel Monsters anime series, not Takahashi's manga. And, like Piccolo Daimaoh said, 5D's is set in this same universe.B wrote:Yu-Gi-Oh! GX is the same universe, but it just chooses to focus on new characters who don't really have any relation to the old ones.

Damn, no AF.
But seriously, I wanted it to stay dead.

Agree 100% with this. DB is over and done with.....it should stay that way. AT should take his 'retirement' and bathe in the money he's still making from Video Games and shi* like that.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:But seriously, I wanted it to stay dead.

Hooray for unclear clarifications! There will be no remake, but the actual question, whether or not we're getting a continuation, remains unanswered!
And no sources, just the good solid word of people on the internet! Double hooray!

I was just about to comment on that. The article said "returning to" Dragonball, not "remaking it"...JulieYBM wrote:'Remake'? When was this reported news ever about this comic being a 'remake'? :p

Akira told in letter section that DB should finish in about 12 volumes of tankoubon.Zionist wrote:You home yet? lol......So basically if we trust AT's word, then this is just some bs......but then again..this coming from the man who didn't plan on going past the Namek Arc to begin with....this is just a bad idea overall imo
BUT....
Doesn't matter how much times he tried to finish the manga..
He made a continuous work until the end of Buu arc.
It's different of restart after 15 years.

But, it's not unheard of to do so. Like I said earlier, Masami Kurumada came back to Saint Seiya (1986-1991) in 2006, 15 years later. Then again, he didn't end when he did by choice, but he certainly wanted his comeback.EnmaDaiou wrote:Akira told in letter section that DB should finish in about 12 volumes of tankoubon.Zionist wrote:You home yet? lol......So basically if we trust AT's word, then this is just some bs......but then again..this coming from the man who didn't plan on going past the Namek Arc to begin with....this is just a bad idea overall imo

Hell, just recently, Paul Levitz (President of DC Comics from 2002-2009) came back to Legion of Superheroes after more than a decade from the title (two, if you count the last time he did a multiple issue run, and 25 years if you count his original run, before Volume 2 stopped and Volume 3 started).
It's entirely common for writers to come back to old works after decades. Hell, Stephen King started his first Dark Tower novel when he was 19, and even now, is going to go back to it at some point for a new book (though, the main series ended a short few years back).
Toriyama can do it, but what I doubt is if he can remember anything. He'll need notes, or an assistant...or set it with new characters, DBO style (or a comedy Mr. Satan, Mr. Buu, and Pan Adventures comic).

Kurumada is an exception.
I don't think it's impossible to Akira do something.
But it's weird.
I read a lot of interviews with Akira.
And he always says he don't want to work again with DB or weekly manga.
He disliked weekly manga since the time of Dr.Slump.
If he really wanted more money or does not have that problem to return with DB, why wait 15 years?
As I said..
There's no "impossible" thing..

Or you know, read his own manga to refresh his memory.Mewzard wrote: Toriyama can do it, but what I doubt is if he can remember anything. He'll need notes, or an assistant...or set it with new characters, DBO style (or a comedy Mr. Satan, Mr. Buu, and Pan Adventures comic).

Just got home an hour ago. I need to find a Karate book in my room and then go to bed. Straight from the man himself!
Seriously, I need to write about this comment when I get back home.
On-topic, I wonder if the "remake" rumor was something that got started in Japan that never got translated into English-speaking fandom. Over here, we were busy speculating on a DBO manga. Over there, they might've been thinking "remake" instead.

There's nothing until now.
I was in NAKANO's MANDARAKE yesterday. I talked with some people..
None of them heard anything about it.
Some of them laugh about it..

Tetsuo Hara came back to Hokuto no Ken with Souten no Ken, Yudetamago came back with Kinnikuman II, it's not entirely unheard of.EnmaDaiou wrote: It's not that common with mangakas.

He never said he was releasing weekly. He could take his time with the chapter releases.EnmaDaiou wrote:

He means now, not then. Then, it was weekly. Maybe now, if Toriyama were to return, he might release on a more relaxed schedule (not weekly... maybe monthly?).EnmaDaiou wrote:It was a weekly manga..Saimaroimaru wrote:He never said he was releasing weekly. After doing fourty-two volumes of The Prince of Tennis Takeshi Konomi did a sequel in the monthly JUMP Square, Shin Prince of Tennis. I wouldn't be surprised if Toriyama could be settled for a monthly schedule.
