Now I'm wondering how the hell they're going to handle something like an Oozaru. It better at least look somewhat decent if it's CGI.

That's precisely why ordinary men pursue the concept of perfection, it's infatuation. But ultimately I have to ask myself "What is the true meaning of being perfect?" and the answer I came up with was nothing. Not one thing. The truth of the matter is I despise perfection! If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Scientist's agonize over the attempt to achieve perfection! That's the kind of creatures we are! We take joy in trying to exceed our grasp, in trying to reach for something that in the end, we have to admit may in fact be unreachable!"

I really like Yamcha! I think that's their best! That's obvious to the reason they chose him for that small demo.
I don't mind his shirt. It could be closer to the Manga/Anime but I enjoy it. It looks really good.

Have they given a response about the copyright issue to the public?
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

The public isn't obligated to hear anything about what copyright issues go on behind the scenes. As far as I know, FUNimation and Toei Ltd. HAVE contacted IndieGoGo and are more than likely going to seek damages from the website for hosting these idiots.

How do you know that? Do you have any proof?Pafupafu wrote:As far as I know, FUNimation and Toei Ltd. HAVE contacted IndieGoGo and are more than likely going to seek damages from the website for hosting these idiots.

He doesn't, I think he's just angry that this project is being made. He has had nothing but negative views towards it, I wouldn't doubt it if he tried to contact someone at TOEI or FUNi about this. If I am wrong, then please provide proof. But huh, you even contradicted yourself...
Just Saiyan.

I have no idea why this guy is going out of his way to really put a stop to this. It makes no sense! Let FUNi or Toei deal with it on their own. hey are big successful businesses and if anything is infringing anything than I am sure they have enough resources to put a stop to it, themselves!

Re: Dragonball Z: Saiyan Saga - Help make this happen!
I'm not going out of my way at all buddy. Trust me. I've seen copyright lawsuits over $50 before. I clearly just pointed out the illegal nature of this project and its misuse of a valuable asset to the independent film community. I have good relations with IndieGoGo and brought their attention to this because of the potential damages it may do. Any person with any idea of how copyright infringement cases usually work with big businesses would know that it is in the best interest of FUNi and Toei to let this project play out to its most profitable state and then build their case and seek even MORE money. Basically, the more successful the project, the bigger the lawsuit. The bigger the lawsuit, the more money these "producers" will have to pay in court fees. The bigger the lawsuit, the bigger the pay out for the big businesses. So essentially, the hope of FUNi and Toei is that these guys take that $16,000 and release it to more profit. FUNi and Toei can then sweep in, take ALL of the money and put this whole fiasco to bed. It's how just about every case goes. It's a shame because in the end, this project will more than likely destroy the production company misusing the brand name illegally.Attitudefan wrote:I have no idea why this guy is going out of his way to really put a stop to this. I was referring that any official lawsuit filed does not have to be publically announced by either party. I am part of the general public, but unlike most people, I also have extensive knowledge in the entertainment copyright division and found it appropriate to share this information with people who are not. My negativity towards the project comes from its misuse of an established website company that will be negatively affected by these guys bypassing their DMCA laws and policies. Also, I am very familiar with the Dragon Ball brand as I am on a fan forum obviously. I appreciate the fact that someone is trying to make a Dragon Ball film. What I don't appreciate is the sly and illegal process this production company has gone through to attempt to make it. They are potentially damaging an amazing asset to the independent film community and the companies that bring this beloved series to us fans.
I've said this a BILLION times now, every one is entitled to their own opinions about whether this project is necessary but the policies of IndieGoGo and the DMCA and United States Copyright law clearly define this project as illegal. Plain and simple.

Does it matter that they are in the UK and fall outside of US copyright law? Are the laws any different?Pafupafu wrote:... The policies of IndieGoGo and the DMCA and United States Copyright law clearly define this project as illegal. Plain and simple.

Copyright laws are generally universal as far as I know. That was the whole point to copyright in the first place; other people cannot steal what somebody else made first no matter where one comes from.

Not so. Russia and Sweden have very different copyright laws from the US. In fact, even the UK's are slightly different, since that kid who was extradited to the US for copyright violation didn't actually break any British laws. However, I don't know enough about England's copyright laws to answer DerekPadula's question.Attitudefan wrote:Copyright laws are generally universal as far as I know. If TPP passes in your country it will be illegal for you to watch an imported DVD. Click here to learn more!
Re: Dragonball Z: Saiyan Saga - Help make this happen!
Doesn't matter where they actually produce the project, they listed it publicly to United States website users when they used IndieGoGo to make $15,000+. They could release the final film in Guam and still get hit by FUNi for the initial funding infringement. Some copyright laws are based upon Language as well which is why FUNi plays such a large role in this. I don't think these guys are going to release this in another language other than English. Do they speak English in England?Bussani wrote:Not so. Russia and Sweden have very different copyright laws from the US. The only way to get away with not getting sued royally for the RELEASE portion only,(they already violated FUNimaton and Toei with the IndieGoGo platform infringement) is to release this in a Language not currently the property of any rights holder of Dragon Ball (unlikely) and in a country/region where there is no zone of distribution owned (VERY unlikely).
I could very well see FUNimation attacking IndieGoGo more so than the actual Producers. However, IndieGoGo's policies clearly state that any user is solely responsible for adhering to the laws of the DMCA. The situation will more than likely unfold like so:
1. Producers release Saiyan Saga trailer (if not court ordered to cease production before hand)
2. After profit peaks, FUNimation moves in and shuts down the trailer's existence on profitable websites/distribution markets
3. FUNimation prepares cases for Producers and IndieGoGo, gathering all records of profit and monetary loss
4. IndieGoGo, with clear DMCA laws is not liable for any monetary loss by FUNimation.
5. FUNimation sues Producers for all recorded profit based on usage of Brand Name "Dragon Ball".
6. IndieGoGo sues Producers for misuse of policies and terms and FUNimation court fees.
7. Settlement results in Producers owing $16,000 to both IndieGoGo AND FUNimation plus damages (double-violation, possibly 2 cases)
8. Settlement also results in Producers owing all recorded profit from Project Release/Distribution to FUNimation plus damages
The bottom line is Copyright Infringement is NEVER a good idea. ESPECIALLY for what is clearly not a major Production Company.
Re: Dragonball Z: Saiyan Saga - Help make this happen!
Actually, if any company is going to put a stop to this it would be 20th Century FOX seeing how they still own the rights to produce a DragonBall movie.

Re: Dragonball Z: Saiyan Saga - Help make this happen!
Correct however that is secondary to copyright of the actual brand itself. They are just another company that can potentially sue for damages and monetary loss. They can also sue for defamation of their film DragonBall Evolution. Basically any one who has paid money to produce or distribute Dragon Ball media can sue these guys. However, the one true and undisputed case of infringement came when the Producers listed a video containing actual footage of the series owned by FUNimation and Toei respectively as a means to promote their project. But yes, in essence, FOX can also take this project down based on the fact that this is a presumably larger-than-youtube release of a film using the brand DragonBall.Avenged wrote:Actually, if any company is going to put a stop to this it would be 20th Century FOX seeing how they still own the rights to produce a DragonBall movie.
It's actually very disheartening to root for these Producers to get this thing made successfully. The more success they have, the more lawsuits will come their way.

Re: Dragonball Z: Saiyan Saga - Help make this happen!
Now that you think about it, isn't Team Four Star profiting from DBZ:A? I mean, they are selling merchandise that clearly has copyrighted characters and phrases from the show and they're getting away with it. Plus, they use it for the show. So it isn't non-profit at all!
I think I did bring this subject up once but it was ignored. I think they even were selling a shirt that had a Yoshi on it in reference to the Piccolo=Yoshi line from episode 2. Seriously, that's bad. I think that is worse than what these guys are doing in breaking the law and TFS is in the USA!
