Actually, I'm a tad skeptical, because there was footage of Sabat at some convention last year where he said he missed the way Z was dubbed, and cited Killa as an example of how he misses the old way of dubbing. He said something along the lines of what they did to Killa was funnier and more creative in the dub because in the Japanese version he was generic background character.

Pretty contrary to what he said in those Kai interviews about hating the changes made in Z's dub...
I don't think he was talking about the dub in general, probably just the background characters because he's also said he didn't care for things like "Yes, yes, YES! I can do this! I can win!"

Hey, here's video footage of Sabat acknowledging The Buu arc of Kai back in January. He doesn't actually say FUNimation has it, or the episode count, but there you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SGRM7XWMAg&t=2m00s

There's a chance we may be waiting longer for the Japanese version than even the dubbed versions... Since Kai's Buu arc is primarily being made for overseas audiences, we'll probably get the various dubs released first. Of course, the Japanese version will be on our eventual DVDs, but who knows if they'll be released before the TV airings...

I've seen footage where he talked about this and he says nothing about missing the way they dubbed z. He simply says that the reason why Killa talked the way he did was because he was an insignificant character and saw no problem with writing what they saw as funny lines.

It still makes me worry that we'll get "dub Killa" in Kai's dub, and other random "cleverly rewritten" background characters in Kai's Boo-arc dub.

Wish I could find the footage.

He says it's nice to dub Kai accurately, but kinda misses the terrible old lines, as dumb as they were.

Doubt it. I'd go against the accurate dub they were going for. Odds are that Killa will least SOUNDS LIKE A FAIRLY INTELLIGENT HUMAN BEING THAT DOESN'T SPOUT RANDOM NONSENSE. See this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zhf_LlQBOy0

That's fine by me. Ultimately I 'd prefer a loyal dub, which it sounds like he's dedicated to doing from this point onward, but I can certainly see how it would be fun to add in stupid lines here and there for minor, bit-part characters.

While we're talking about our "wish list" for the Kai dub as well as over-the-top lines for bit-part characters, here's another thing I'd like to see happen, even though I'm almost dead certain it won't. I'm trying to find the footage, but when Sabat was asked about what he thought of DBZ Abridged (a question he now gets fairly frequently), he said that he thought it was hilarious and that he tried to get some of the members of TFS down to FUNimation to dub a few lines in Kai, but that ultimately it didn't work out. I can definitely see how that would be a problem, especially when you have members like MasakoX who lives in the UK. However, on the off-chance that he can get them to dub a few lines for the Kai dub, I feel I know the perfect place for them to be used.

Assuming this bit hasn't been cut out (since it's Kai and all), I think it would absolutely hilarious if, during Mr. Satan's....I don't what you'd call it, his "recap movie"...all the characters were voiced by their TFS counterparts.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I had no idea Funimation dubbed Killa like that. I'm surprised people didn't find it offensive since it's one of the few black characters in the anime and they chose to depict him as a mumbling idiot.

Even the Ocean dub gave him a normal voice.

Actually people did get offended. I'm not sure how many though. It doesn't matter because some people are so damn touchy. Who cares that he's black. Why does every minority character have to represent an entire race?

It's comforting that he enjoyed making up unfunny shit for the characters to say other than what they were supposed to.

Somebody received a paycheck for that crap. Somebody actually went to the bank and cashed a check and received money for "Cat loves food!"

I still think this is the most cringe inducing moment of FUNi's dub.

Between that, Cat Loves Food, and I FEEL GREAT, Sabat must be a magnet for this shit.

I am just greatful Kai has managed to be accurate most of the tome. God that clip reminds me how bad the old dubs scripting is. I forgot about that.

I would agree. Funi has actually made people remember that a character named Killa even exists in DBZ. The dub is the greatest thing to ever happen to that talking piece of background.

Yeeeeaaaah, no. I mean, the "Cat love Food" BS was one thing but here, Killa was spouting random words as though he was brain damaged. Even if Sabat had slight fun in writing dialogue for minor characters (which I don't think is as bad), I'll be surprised if he looks back on this in particular with immense fondness.

I've never heard Killa's voice in the FUNi dub, so I checked it out and wow.. It's awful.

Chris didn't like a lot of the lines he was given, but sadly he was the one behind "cat loves food". When I found that out, I was heartbroken. It's one of the most embarassing moments in the dub. That all said, I think Christopher Neel or Neil Blight or whatever his name was is the guy most responsible for the terrible scripts.
