I suck at music, just about as hard as it's possible to suck (I've been playing piano since I was 5, so for almost 20 years, and I continue to sound like a cat taking a nap on the ivory).

I get the impression that the Kikuichi score has pieces based on mood or events, and the FUNimation score has pieces based on characters, with some mood tracks. The Kikuichi score will use a piece multiple times during scenes of the same "tone" (like a big brassy "tense moments" piece), and the FUNi score will use a score that is an arrangement of a character's theme. But then again, I know four guitar chords and don't know how to use a pick.
A YouTube channel with no AMVs on it? I know, it's hard to believe.

The Kikuchi score has character themes: they're just used more sparingly over the course of the series & movies.

But what he's claiming isn't an opinion if he's wrong. The english SSJ3 scene, for example, creates a mood of excitement whereas the Japanese scene creates an unsettling mood. The english scene is basically conveying "Hell yeah, Goku's got a new transformation!", whereas the Japanese scene is basically conveying "Oh shit... Goku shouldn't be doing this..." Claiming the 2 scores have the same mood is like saying the sky is pink. It just isn't the case.
Even so, it's not right to insult him for it. Besides, some arguments aren't really worth winning, and if you try to beat him over the head, he's only going to clam up and be more stubborn.

Yeah, the Kikuchi score too has specific leitmotifs or themes for main characters and items. But from Z, they started to rely more on scores from movies, so villains in the TV series of DBZ only loosely have "themes" that are originally movie villains'.

Goku 1
Bulma
Kamesen'nin
Shenlong (1st track)
Dragon Balls
Red Ribbon Army
General Blue (1st half of the vid)
Tao Pai Pai
Yamcha
Gurumes's army
King Gurumes
Krillin
Sleeping Princess
Lucifer
Piccolo 1
Yajirobe
Cyborg Tao Pai Pai
Chiaotzu
Baby Gohan
Saiyans
Vegeta 1
Garlic Jr. (0:46-)
Kami
Dr. Willow (Freeza)
Tree of Might
Tullece
Goku 2 (until 0:17)
Haiya Dragon
The meteor
Slug (Androids 1)
Piccolo 2
Goku 3
Coola (Androids 2)
Metal Coola (Cell)
Android 13
Vegeta 2
Paragus
Broly (Majin Buu 1) (until 0:18)
Goku 4
Mr. Satan
Gohan (2:43-)
Bio Broly (Majin Buu 2)
Janemba
Gogeta
Tapion
Hildegarn

You can enjoy his score more if you focus on these leitmotifs. Some of these were even used throughout the entire two series, which gives them a good unity.

That's complete bullshit that the one chose the tracks for Daizenshuu 5-disc set wrote in the booklet. It was never used as his theme.

That's interesting as I always noticed how some of the movie villains or scenes had themes from the series. Guess it was always in reverse kinda like how they did it for Detective Conan.

You know, Scott, I never told you this, and this may be off topic, but that King Piccolo theme you did? That fit almost PERFECTLY with Goku's first confrontation with Old Piccolo, or at least, the first two minutes or so. Nice job!

My apologies. I just went by the title of the track. I do remember the piece being played during one of Trunks' appearances in the TV series, but you're right. It was never used as his theme.

You don't have to apologize. It's Columbia's fault.
