Best Freeza dub voice?

Young had no power behind her voice. It was an older woman trying to sound tough. Newstone's sounds creepy and she has talent.

Saying Young has no talent sounds pretty harsh. Newstone to me sounded very frail. Of course, it's hard to compare her to the other Freezas, since her role as the character was brief, but I never found it very intimidating, of course I didn't find Young's voice intimidating either.

Perhaps it's hyperbole, but I've yet to hear a performance of hers that was convincing. Her Freeza was so over the top evil, but not in that good way like Mark Hamill's Joker. I don't know why you see Newstone's as frail.

I think she was pretty good as Genkai in Yu Yu Hakusho, and many others would agree. In all honesty, I think a big reason that her role as Freeza didn't work out is because she was given some pretty bad dialogue to work with. And I definitely saw Newstone's voice as frail sounding, it just sounded like a fragile old woman.

She didn't sound too old there. Newstone may not have a voice similar to Nakao, but at least she makes him sound like the well spoken, spoiled brat he is in the Japanese version, the same can't be said for Linda Young. Young sounds too much like Tress Macneille (the VA who plays all the old women on the Simpsons & Futurama)

I actually think she sounded worse in the Westwood dub. I also don't see how she made Freeza sound like an aristocratic spoiled brat.

It didn't work because she's not suited for the role, and Genkai might be her best role, but she's still not a good actress. It sounds like someone trying to sound tough and her death scene was not moving at all. Her young Genkai voice was even worse. I don't know what to say regarding Newstone sounding like a frail old woman other than I disagree. She's no worse than Young who's always giving a whispery performance that makes it sound like she has trouble projecting.

Saturday morning cartoon villains often make threats and cheesy jokes to the heroes about how they are going to hurt them. While not a cartoon, it might as well be, but Power Rangers villains often delivered that kind of dialog. Some of those things could be something Skeletor or Shredder would say.

I like FUNimation's Freeza.

Which is what we should call it because it's not Lord Freeza.

Pardon me, but you don't appear to be very knowledgeable on the topics you reference. Skeletor isn't comparable to FUNimation's version of Frieza in the least bit; Skeletor is renowned for being a feckless bungler with a penchant for tepid insults, not someone that makes morbid jests over cracking a child's neck.

I'm sticking with Chris Ayres as best dub Freeza, and Ryusei Nakao as just delightful overall as Freeza.

Genkai's death hits me in the feels as well, but not the dub's version. Justin Cook's lack of acting ability is also a contributing factor.

Interesting, I've come to like Newstone's take more than when I first heard it, but it's still a distant third after Nakao and Ayres. Young's take is even farther than Newstone's. Newstone's doesn't sound nearly as put on as Young's.

The funny thing is I've heard Linda Young's Freeza voiced used on Genkai and Pauline Newstone's Freeza voice used on an old woman in the Ranma 1/2 dub during a filler: honestly, I find both were really miscast as Freeza.

I've heard far worse dub performances than both of them, though, in other Series.
