Now Yamamuro has his own company named Yamamuro Sakuga Studio, so I'm not sure whether he is still a staffer of Toei Animation. Speaking of Shindou Produnctions, in DBZ, it's just that Yamamuro was too good and the other animators were so-so, so I guess their involvement does not directly contribute to animation quality.JulieYBM wrote:There is no indication they will. Turles is kind of the "evil" Goku to me. Also, I can't picture the alternative without also picturing Evil Goku with that hilariously mismatched facial hair from the TFS Christmas Special. "So evil." X3
I know there's a new guy writing Movie 14, but I didn't realize--and this is if ANN's listing is correct--that Toei had just one person do the screenplay for all the previous Z movies plus the first "Plot to Destroy" and the 08 special: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... .php?id=93
Is that correct? I mean, it might just be because of the gradual animation change grabbing my attention, but I don't recall noticing a similar writing style across the board throughout the movies. If it is all one guy, I'm kind of shocked. I always thought each movie script was the result of at least 2 to 3 people working together.

Me too. o_O That's a lot of work for only one writer and even 2 people working on a script without some peer supervision can lead to disastrous ending results. The good thing here is that Toriyama has been involved in the process so we can at least expect In-Character behavior from them.Chuquita wrote: Is that correct? Who wrote Movie 13? I loved the way it was written and developed. I actually felt like a mini arc over the spawn of several days. While I loved Movie 12 for the character interactions, the whole events felt too rushed to my taste.

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
How was Kai a disappointment. I'll admit on the Japanese side the voice acting didn't have the same spirit at times, but for the english side it was the best thing that could have happened. Even for the Japanese side I personally find watching full z episodes impossible. I can only watch youtube clips that cut out the filler.
I really hope the movie doesn't single out people. I want to see at least Piccolo do something. I really hope they don't screw Gohan over when he is the strongest either[or have him randomly have SSJ again(GT why)]. It would be great to see the humans to, but t this point in time it might be impossible. I still stand by my earlier post of wanting a tenkaichi budokai to return to relieve the dragon ball days.

I don't know why, but I have the feeling that this will happen and Toriyama is not going to call them on that because he... forgot.or have him randomly have SSJ again(GT why)

Toriyama said that he will re-read the manga for the new movie (I think?) so I don't think we are going to have a problem there. Besides, Gohan seems to be in his Ultimate form in the poster.soulnova wrote:I don't know why, but I have the feeling that this will happen and Toriyama is not going to call them on that because he... forgot.or have him randomly have SSJ again(GT why)
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

He read the comic for the first time when drawing the Kanzenban covers, but otherwise he described his preparation for this new movie as simply "getting back into the tempo" more or less.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Toriyama said that he will re-read the manga for the new movie (I think?) so I don't think we are going to have a problem there. Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
I just went through Kanzentai's old database for their movie guides (they got up to #9 of Z) and it looks like it's true. The director changes fairly often, but from 1-9 at least it's all the same writer. The only thing I can think of is I guess it shows how different directors affect things. ANN says the same writer did 1-13. 13 definitely had good pacing; everything flowed together well. Agreed about 12's pacing. ANN lists Mitsuo Hashimoto http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=9804 as the director for 13 (it says he also directed movies 4, and 5) .soulnova wrote:Me too. o_O That's a lot of work for only one writer and even 2 people working on a script without some peer supervision can lead to disastrous ending results. Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
Very much appreciated. It's both equally interesting to me how the directors seem to rotate while the writer remained the same for the Z movies. Also it's a surprise to me that Bojack and Bio-Brolli were directed by the same person.

Maybe that most fans that I've seen wanted something new, but we just got the same show from 20+ years ago but with less filler. Funi's dub was good since we finally got a DBZ dub that is good for once in my opinion, but I wish the show had brand new animation. The recent Guyver anime had brand new animation compare to the older OVA's from the 80's, I wish Kai was the same.dbzfan7 wrote:How was Kai a disappointment.

Kai is a disappointment because it failed to do what it set out to. It promised a manga accurate recut of Z, yet it missed a third of the series ...
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

One thing that I don't understand is why this is still the time-period of when Goten/Trunks are still kids. The promos seemed to indicate this was somewhere smack-dab on the middle of those two periods, rather than no more than a year or so after Buu. It seems like it's the timeframe of the Jump Super Anime Special...
