Hmm... interesting game, FUNimation. I'll bite.

I posted my questions on the main page's comment section (and Facebook.)
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Well, that's the good thing about Funimation. Just wait a year and there'll be another release after this one fails, so you won't have to wait too long.

Of course, the next one will fail, too, but at least you'll get to see Gohan on that log again.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

I'm kinda tempted to ask them if Toei has a Third Strike policy, where the license gets taken away if they keep making really visually insulting remasters. Is there some other ask that, in a way that they can reply?

EDIT: Meh, ended up asking why not focus on releasing any of the other DB anime series or movies in better quality (like the Dragon Boxes) instead of continue to pump out more of the same Z. And, if they wanna release more Z, why not the Z-era stuff that they haven't released at all yet.

I doubt Toei gives a shit as long as it makes money. What a bizarre question to ask.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I can only imagine that the people at Toei are sitting back and laughing at us. If they wanted us to get a good quality product, they would give FUNimation better masters.

Am I allowed to ask... how many folks here had actually bought Level sets before they were cancelled?

I totally get the idea of picking something up later, because you naturally assume that sets don't get cancelled out of nowhere, even for Funimation DBZ since we've had two complete releases, but at some point, these things did not sell. I have Dragon Boxes, I did not need the Levels, but I also temper my right to complain about these Blus because I cannot say I put my money where my mouth is. For something as trivial as anime releases, pity for other fans (And I have a lot of that!) is not equal to a bad investment.

I think other forum posters have covered any question I might ask, good job all!

Whatever spare money I had was going towards Kai and FUNimation's other titles. All I have are the orange bricks, though.

I only bought the first Level before it was cancelled, and bought the second one a while after that.

These days I conspire to find an advance copy of Level 2.1, hidden away in some warehouse. I will make it my own.
A YouTube channel with no AMVs on it? I know, it's hard to believe.

I can't watch the Youtube trailer in Canada. Funimation is doing us a favour.

Really?

If they did no remastering and just slapped the 4:3 transfers onto Blu-ray, they would sell just as well and require less effort. And it would look better.

I hate to say it but if I get any extra money this Christmas I may pick this up. I know..I know..lol I know what I'd be supporting. :P but if they end up being better than the orange bricks, my brother has been wanting to get the entire series because he no longer lives with us and he's busy working all the time and it's hard for him to visit, so I'd just give him the orange bricks and keep these if they continue them. but like I was telling my friend..I get tired of buying Dragonball stuff all the time. :P I love the show to death but after buying and re-buying..you kinda get burnt out. :?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I got them before the cancellation notice - just before it though.

Also, try to remember many of the hardcore fan base had just gone done with the DBoxes.

One good question to ask FUNI might be if they considered that fact or not.

They won't. Even more detail is lost, and the only upside so far seems to be a lack of line disappearing and probably selective framing (I say probably because it looks like every scene in the trailer is center cropped). The later seasons even have grain, and will look far worse on these new Blu-rays.

At least the Orange Bricks still somewhat resemble film, these look like crappy vector traces with butchered backgrounds.

I wonder what the odds are that they'll complete the set... :?

As with anything other release, it depends on how well they sell. Since these are cheaper to produce than the levels sets though, they are going to have to sell even worse than the levels to stop them.

I'm utterly embarrassed from reading all the questions regarding the cropping of the footage. One question is enough. Try to think of different question regarding the release and shoot (kindly) away. FUNimation will answer your questions if you are being nice. When it comes to interviewing/Q&A sessions, I always ask with the sense of professionalism without being harsh. I hope this is not the kind of community this will turn out when it comes to U.S. releases.

I always have a high expectation for VegettoEX being very professional with Q&A, and I know he will wisely pick out appropriate questions the fans had submitted to for the extra feature on Blu-Ray releases. When it comes to the Dragon Ball community, we want to show them how awesome and civil we are! :)

I somehow totally forgot about that. Despite having DBoxes myself. I'm... tempted to rephrase that and throw it out, even though I know it's one Funi cannot really answer without somehow damaging themselves.

I don't see what you're embarrassed about. I also don't see the problem with multiple folks asking about the cropping. The fact that SO MANY people are asking about it shows a very clear position from a variety of people that it's something important to them and something they're not happy about. Everything's been phrased incredibly politely / with civility, contrary to what you're implying.

Again, I see no issue here.
