The difference being that people like Roshi will fight opponents on their own level whereas Gohan will job for someone so Goku or Vegeta can look cool by beating them.

We'd see a First Form Freeza tier opponent. Also he's still evil, so he wouldn't be allowed to keep his body. But we'll ignore that. Piccolo effortlessly destroys Nappa and Vegeta. Earth is ruled by him if he's still evil
