First time actually watching the movie, so this is probably something that has been brought up before, but... I really think this would've worked better as a short TV series than as a movie. A lot of it was spent just playing around with the characters (which I loved, don't get me wrong), with the actual "plot" being just being something tying the entire thing together rather than the overall focus. I think it'd have flown better as a series of shorter episodes, which would've also given them more time to showcase all the characters. Was Lunch even in the movie?

He likes it though, so he just goes off to bed on the same thing he woke up on. It's then that Whis tells him to brush his teeth, which makes a lot more sense than right after he knocks him out.

EDIT: Beaten to it!
Thanks guys! Much appreciated...doesn't sound like I missed too much then.

Might post some proper thoughts tomorrow, but I noticed a lot of interesting things. Some of the shots that were on screen for huge periods of time in the theatrical cut of the film (Goku tunnelling out of the ground, Beerus holding back Goku's punch, Kaio driving, etc.) were shortened and mixed up with new footage, which is nice. If anything, this cut of the film really shows how pressed for time they were, when putting this film together- as stated in many interviews.

Seriously, though. Bed now.

Was hoping for a teaser for a sequel of sorts at the end. ; _ ;
Still, mostly satisfied with the director's cut. Things ran smoother. Gokû realizing he forgot Bulma's birthday, and Vegeta searching ridiculous places for Beerus, along with that applause scene later on were fun. There were a few new ssjg shots, but I didn't have time to take screens.

Happy I was able to wake up in time to see the whole thing though.
On hiatus.

They could have probably stretched it out into 13 episodes, but that would have been much more expensive for them to make. Maybe they will do that with Beerus' next appearance instead of making a movie.

Nope. Also missing were Yajirobe, Karin, and Mr. Popo (I guess he can't leave his post when Kami is not there, and wasn't he absent in the JSAT as well?).

Well, that was a fantastic watch! Absolutely the definitive version of the film. Plot holes and leaps in character logic are filled in nicely. Have to say, I'm a little annoyed I paid for the Blu-Ray of the theatrical cut of the film having seen that. Hopefully a home release of that will contain some extras that make double dipping worth it!

Here's a list of the new scenes. Probably not particularly full or as in depth as what I imagine Julian will put out but I was just noting stuff down quickly on my phone. Using information from some of Julian's tweets in here, I hope that's okay!

Opening: Prior to the original opening of the film, we now have a newly animated section that spans from the start of Dragon Ball to the end of Z, documenting the big villain defeats for Goku and co.

Kaio's Planet: Scene from the preview of Goku eating food is in place. Cuts down the length of Kaio's explanation to Goku about Beerus in their car ride.

Beerus Waking Up: Longer scene of Whis approaching Beerus. Nothing particularly special, just a slightly longer build up to Beerus' reveal.

Party Scene: Mr Satan is incredibly drunk and asks Dr. Brief to top up his drink. Queue a conversation between a multitude of side characters as he realises who he actually is. He then heads off to fill Dr. Brief's drink instead.

Back to Kaio's Planet: Goku remembers it's Bulma's birthday before Kaio goes back to the theatrical cut speech about Beerus coming.

Post-SSJ3 Defeat: Goku states that Beerus is unlikely to be beaten even if he and Vegeta fused. Scene ends with Bubbles finding Senzu on Goku's person and Goku bursting back into life.

Party Scene: Longer build up to Vegeta seeing Beerus and Whis for the first time. Later cuts to Beerus break dancing as Mr Satan drunkenly challenges him to a dance off.

Pilaf Shenanigans: New intro for Pilaf and co. It shows them sneaking through Capsule Corporation. They come across a closet and accidentally activate a capsule that spawns a large boat, smashing through the walls.

Party Scene: Beerus confronts Buu as it's revealed to took all the pudding. Extended scene of Buu fighting Beerus before being defeated. Other Z fighters rush in to help before being defeated. New scene of Chiaotzu asking Tenshinhan if he's okay.

Beerus vs Vegeta/Gotenks: Extended battle between Beerus and Vegeta prior to defeat. Longer transformation scene for Goten and Trunks (?)

Entirely New Scene: Vegeta is helped off the battlefield as Beerus challenges Oolang (who he refers to as 'the delicious-looking one) to Rock-Paper-Scissors. Yamcha gives him some tactics but Beerus overhears and wins.

Applause Scene: The group applaud Vegeta's efforts. He's incredibly upset by this. Hurt pride?

SSJ Goku vs. Beerus battle seems a little longer but nothing that was immediate...at least to me.

Mid Goku vs. Beerus Battle: As SSJG Goku and Beerus fight, Whis approaches the ship Bulma and the other characters took to pursue the battle. He opens up a hole in the glass and steps through before asking #18 what the food he's carrying is. She tells him that it's ice cream in her own rude way, of course. He replies that her words are as cold as the ice cream.

Post-Battle: Scene between Kaioshin and Kibito-kaio is extended and a conversation regarding Vegeta and humanity occurs.

Beerus & Whis' Final Conversation: Prior to Beerus going back to sleep, he vows to destroy Earth if he doesn't enjoy the sushi...fortunately he does! We then get Whis' scene in which he tells Beerus to brush his teeth before knocking him out. There is no mention of 'please sleep for three years' but rather Beerus says to wake him up in three years. This is followed by Whis setting the hourglass.

End.

-

Hopefully that's relatively complete and helps those who can't wait for Kanzenshuu's properly explained and presented version that'll likely come in the next few days. Let me know if anything needs changing.

Before. The fight after Bulma got hit is exactly the same.

Wow, I don't think Toei even spent $150,000 on the new cuts. Yeesh.

Τhe recap was great, but it could have been far better with better animation.

I don't see anything wrong with the recap animation, it's done in the same style as the movie, and the Kai openings.

Animation, not the styles of the character models. The animation is terrible. It looks like it was tossed together with just a few drawings by terrible animators.

 The more I watch it the more I see what you're saying. For a moment I thought it was the video quality on Youtube but you don't think so? The video quality in general just looks really really choppy...but you may be correct in your assessment.

I only caught the tail end of the directors cut edition but I've seen a run down of all the differences and I must say that I might actually prefer this version of the film whenever I get a chance to finally see the whole thing. Loved the new intro though, regardless of crappy or not crappy animation.

Yeah for a 2 minute recap it more than does the job even if the animation isn't up to par...though I can empathize with people's sentiments on desiring a higher quality option.
