Still, mostly satisfied with the director's cut. Things ran smoother. Gokû realizing he forgot Bulma's birthday, and Vegeta searching ridiculous places for Beerus, along with that applause scene later on were fun. There were a few new ssjg shots, but I didn't have time to take screens.
Happy I was able to wake up in time to see the whole thing though.
Same here! I really thought that they would end up showing a teaser for a new movie or at least a Dragon Ball Heroes show.
I'm still not giving up on my prediction that after the Buu arc of Kai finishes there will be a reveal for a Dragon Ball Heroes show.

I can dream.

They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.

My guess is that they've been avoiding using him in any of the new animation (
Kai notwithstanding) due to complaints about him being a racist stereotype.
The "he can't leave his post when Kami is not there" explanation is a decent in-universe explanation, I suppose.

How can out say that the dinosaurs are extinct? That's the worst error in all of Dragon Ball!

If this is what they are complaining about then no wonder main stream anime and cartoons keep getting worse evry year
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Ooh, I hadn't thought of that. That's pretty clever. Plothole avoided!
AjayLikesGaming wrote:Party Scene: Beerus confronts Buu as it's revealed to took all the pudding. Extended scene of Buu fighting Beerus before being defeated. Other Z fighters rush in to help before being defeated. New scene of Chiaotzu asking Tenshinhan if he's okay.
Huzzah! It's Hiroko Emori voicing him, right?
That was the #1 thing I wanted. Everything else is just icing on the cake.
AjayLikesGaming wrote:Entirely New Scene: Vegeta is helped off the battlefield as Beerus challenges Oolang (who he refers to as 'the delicious-looking one) to Rock-Paper-Scissors. Yamcha gives him some tactics but Beerus overhears and wins.
Really looking forward to this, too. Clever way of giving Yamcha and Oolong more lines.
So, was anything cut? Some people's posts are making me think that. That would sure be a shame. I was hoping for additions, not replacements.

Oh yeah! Watching a Japanese channel! haha
Edit - Not to be a party pooper but with these new scenes I almost feel....Cheated? on my box set.

as much I paid for it and now that the cat's out of the bag about new scenes....I just kinda wish they would have released them with my box set haha Hopefully if Funimation gets this movie we will get this version because I can't stand the thought of knowing it's out there and not having it. I have everything....EVERYTHING!

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
Still recording Toonami broadcasts on VHS after all these years!

He left when Kami was dead, to take Bulma to his ship.

I'm sad that Yuko Minaguchi wasn't able to reprise Videl. I'd like to hope she could record over Kakinuma's dialogue for a (potential) home video release for consistency, but I get the feeling they won't care enough to do that.
Cell and Freeza got lines in the recap, though! I guess someone heard them complaining in the teaser trailer.

Need this. If someone gets an official release out before the fansubbers provide me with my fix, I'll happily boycott the fan recording, but that seems unlikely

That was an important situation, not a random party though.

Makes much more sense that way.

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Did they mention in the director's cut how or why King Kai's planet was reborn, or is that still left for interpretation?

I still don't think that's anything that really NEEDS explaining, any more so than needing to explain when or how any other location was rebuilt after a battle. Kaio more than likely just had the ability to recreate his planet all along, and perhaps only chose to do once Goku returned to life after dealing with Majin Boo.

I'm not a fan when Goku's childhood is drawn to look more in line with his adulthood; they also pulled this on an opening sequence for one of the Dragon Ball(not Z) games. I get that they would want consistency within the film itself, but Kuririn and Goku look nothing like they should if you cracked open the manga, and it's jarring as all hell.
It doesn't help that the recap in and of itself was clearly cheap. Camera pans and very little movement. They don't even actually show Goku's head hitting Piccolo; they cut to it post-connection and do a sound effect. That's a popular trick Toei uses in One Piece with Luffy's punches as well.
I'll give points to the director/storyboard on the Pilaf/Piccolo Daimao eye transition. That was cool.

You know, just for head-canon sake... perhaps Beerus thought he eradicated the dinosaurs. I mean, he's always sleeping, maybe while he was napping who's to say two dinosaurs survived and started multiplying. Also on that note, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of dinosaurs, just a few... maybe this is the reason for that?
