Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

WHAT IS THE POINT? I'm genuinely curious! You're not venting REAL frustrations, you're venting frustrations you've created in your heads because your expectations aren't seemingly being catered to. Nobody has the full details, nobody has seen the movie, yet people still seem genuinely upset. That's ridiculous to me, as it does nothing but harbor a negative, pessimistic attitude about something we should be happy is even being made in the first place.
Take a bow, KaiserNeko. Take a bow.
Honestly, this thread and the community it's attracted has been one of the main reasons I've been trying to stay away from this site. It's dreadful and all attempts to sway the conversation in a positive direction have been futile. I don't think I've ever seen such unfounded negativity towards the franchise in my life. The film isn't even out, we have so little context for most of these complaints, it hurts.
I guess to add to this conversation rather than complaining about complaining - I'm glad Tagoma is alive. I'm happy we finally have justification for the absense of key characters (as silly as it is), and I'm very excited to finally read this to find out what Goku and Vegeta are up to.

And that pretty much it.

I will summarize
Yamcha and Chaozou won't be in cuz they are fodder and Daddy Tenshinhan told them to stay at home
Goten and Trunks aren't told about this affair by Bulma's order... They forgot how to sense strong KIi and that's the explanation
Instead we will get Roshi and Bulma
So Roshi is confirmed to be stronger than Gotenks and Yamcha?

I don't really care that Buu isn't in it. He barely played a role in BoGs and the role he did play was to make Beerus angry and then serve as fodder for him. Now I'm quite disappointed that Trunks and Goten aren't in it.
Sandubadear wrote:So Roshi is confirmed to be stronger than Gotenks and Yamcha?
No. Roshi has to right to be involved in any battle he damn well pleases. Hell, he's so long overdue when it comes to being a part of a major battle.

I'm seriously surprised how Tagoma could survive a hit from Freeza.
And Google Translate doesn't really help to figure out which side he is, either, I assume he switched sides after Freeza betrayed him and he let the fighters on Earth know.

Tagoma survived an attack from Freeza?

Actually, it's implied he tossed him out the ship window using his telekinesis. I guess he can survive in space! Good to see he sticks around, resilient bugger.
You know, I'd much rather have a film that focuses on a few characters properly than just have everyone there for the sake of being there, like Battle of Gods and the JSAT Special.
For those two features, there was a sense of 'this is a celebration, this is a reunion, isn't it nice to have everyone back together again?' - but we've done that, we've been there. Goten and Trunks got had plenty of attention in the Buu arc, but Kuririn hasn't had any since the Cell arc, and arguably, Tenshinhan and Roshi haven't had any proper plot-space save for supporting roles and cameos since the 'Dragonball' volumes of the Manga.
--Edit--
And ha! Regarding Tagoma not dying - I knew it! I noted at the time on here that it didn't look like he died, all we saw was him get thrown out of the window.

Kei posted some info, and the hungry piranhas smelled blood and attacked
I think most of them registered only to complain about the Movie. And it's hard to find info buried in this negativity.

I doubt she has to, going by the last few pages. Even I'm perplexed by some of these choices.
But, I think a lot of people are misreading it. Gohan didn't leave Goten and Trunks out because they're week. Gohan said it was because "they can go too far". I'm not saying that makes any more sense, though. But...when you think about Goku and Vegeta taking him on in base form...maybe they aren't really taking Freeza seriously? They know Gotenks will be overkill, so they kind of leave them out. (But then you have to wonder why Tien thought Yamcha and Chaozu were excluded by Tien)
Lot's of interesting things going on here...I'm very interested in seeing how things pan out.
Pun unintended, but a very happy accident

It could be Jaco, too.

At first the negative comments really annoyed me, but now I don't care since it seems that some people are hating this movie just because they WANT to hate this movie. Some comments are so full of hate that they are even funny to read

Like it was mentioned before, people WANT to like the movie. What is coming out is just not to their liking and the disappointment makes them pessimistic. I agree that positivism is always better, but its easy to understand why the fans complain and realize that its not because they want to hate. At least, for most.

Or, y'know, people actually have legitimate criticism?
