Actually, I think it's possible that besides the packaging, the uncut DVDs might omit the "Z." Do we know for sure that the uncut versions will have that edit in them? If not, the episodes themselves may have the standard Kai logo.Gaffer Tape wrote: Well, just to split hairs, and because this is an issue that does hold some importance to me, I'd argue that, unless FUNimation has gone back to using alternate angles, there will be some "bad, inaccurate" things there in the Japanese version, namely the letter Z in the logo and English title cards and credits. And that will just be annoying... Although at least since they're translating things properly, most of those would more so fit in the "bad" category than the "inaccurate" category, I admit.

Hey guys, I saw a new Z Kai promo on NickToons. What it saw is that it will air on May 24th at 8PM with 4 days a week with a double premiere. Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up but there still was no voice clips from the dub in the promo.

No it doesn't.SaiyamanMS wrote:Chopper's voice changes in Japanese too. In America, Heavy Point Chopper was voiced by a whole different person, a Man with a deep Andre the Giant style voice.
That kinda change is WAY different than the Japanese version.

To be honest, while didn't really watch the 4Kids dub, I did read Chopper as having a deep man voice in the English manga when he was in his big form.DemonRin wrote:No it doesn't.SaiyamanMS wrote:Chopper's voice changes in Japanese too. That's exactly what SaiyamanMS said...Ikue Ohtani's voice does become slightly deeper when Chopper is in his big form.

No, he said "Chopper's voice changes in Japanese too". That kinda directly lumps the two situations together, when they're not the same.Metalwario64 wrote: Uh...That's exactly what SaiyamanMS said...Ikue Ohtani's voice does become slightly deeper when Chopper is in his big form.
One is the exact same actress just sounding SLIGHTLY tougher, one is a complete change in actors. Not the same in the least.

He is saying that the same voice actress' voice becomes slightly deeper... You aren't reading the whole post even when I've pointed it out in bold, you keep taking the first part of the post and continuously taking it out of context... He never said that the actor changed, he said the "voice changes", which is not necessarily the same thing.Ikue Ohtani's voice does become slightly deeper when Chopper is in his big form.

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
Why would you assume that "Chopper's voice changes" meant "Chopper's voice actor changes"?
Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
Someone's voice changing doesn't mean they have a different voice actor. My voice changed during puberty but I am in fact still voiced by the same person.
Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
What's wrong with Chi Chi pronouncing it like that? I mean it's not like I heard her do it but even if she did, I think it'd be pretty appropriate, seeing how in the Japanese version Chi-Chi speaks with a Tohoku-dialect, and the fact that Cynthia C. is a natural-born Texan with a natural-born Texan accent does make this some what relative to the original version.SylentEcho wrote: Can you guys imagine how censored this is going to be? What's the point of Kai if it's going to be nothing like the manga again all because of this gay dub? Why does Chi Chi still say Geauhan instead of Gohan? Funi has always irritated me so much. Why would they go to Nickelodeon in the first place? That itself makes Dragonball a laughing stock.
Still, I didn't hear "Geauhan."
And the reason they went to Nick is because CN is garbage, duh. Besides, Nick has series like Avatar, Iron Man, and Wolverine and the X-Men, so it isn't like people don't watch Nicktoons. Quite the opposite, actually.

Yes. We do. The uncut opening shown at SakuraCon had the Z logo.xzero wrote:Actually, I think it's possible that besides the packaging, the uncut DVDs might omit the "Z." Oh. I didn't see it clearly enough on the footage I saw. That said, the bright side is that while it is an inaccurate change, it's at least nothing gamechanging.Puto wrote:Yes. We do. Also, it isn't even FUNimation's fault; Toei is the one behind the name change.xzero wrote:Oh. I didn't see it clearly enough on the footage I saw. That said, the bright side is that while it is an inaccurate change, it's at least nothing gamechanging.

Also, search the youtube channel Kienzan88gt
He's on this forum and was able to re-upload some uncut clips that were originally taken down.
The audio sounds a bit dodgy on these uncut clips though because the audio was taken from a digital camera, while the video is the footage from how it aired in Japan, hence the widescreen. Both DVD and Blu-Ray releases of Kai in America will be uncropped 4:3.

This is a great marketing strategy. Two versions of this can be released. The censored and uncensored version. They're out to make fools of us again, but I'm not going to buy even one DVD of theirs coz their dub sucks.\
Well, hello there. You must be new here.

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
Ok... I'm gonna vaguely paraphrase the whole Chopper controversy here:
Okay then, Dragon Ball Z Kai... can't wait! The Funimation voice cast are my voice cast. They were the ones doing the show back when I started watching the Cell arc in 2001, and despite their excellent work in all the more recent stuff, certain artifacts of 1999 still lurk such as the terrible season 3 voices and absolutely rubbish scripts scattered throughout the series. As other people have said, Dragon Ball Z Kai will finally be providing us with a version of the show dubbed the way it was meant to be, without any stupid issues messing it up.
G1Ravage wrote:In Japanese, all of Freeza and Cell's forms sound identical, unlike the dub. This is similar to how in One Piece, Chopper's voice never changes in Japanese, but it did in the 4Kids dub.
SaiyamanMS wrote:Chopper's voice does change slightly in Japanese. Ikue Ohtani changes her voice to be slightly deeper in the big form.
DemonRin wrote:No it doesn't. He keeps the same voice actress, she just alters her delivery.
Metalwario64 wrote:Uh... That's what SaiyamanMS just said.
I wasn't arguing the fact that Chopper is, and always has been (with the exception of part of Water 7/Enies Lobby), voiced by Ikue Ohtani. But to say that both little Chopper and big Chopper sound identical simply isn't true. Just like how dub Freeza has consistently been voiced by Linda Young since 1999, despite this, each of his forms sound slightly different.DemonRin wrote:No it's not! He said the voice changes!

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
So on the subject of the dub supposedly keeping the Japanese attack names...
What are they going to do about Goku's teleporting ability?
Will they still call it Instant Transmission? Or Shunkan Ido?

I'm sure they will either leave it "Shunkan Ido" or they will re-translate it to something like "Instantaneous Movement".Brad Redfield wrote:So on the subject of the dub supposedly keeping the Japanese attack names...

I believe it was mentioned that they were keeping the completely made up attack names and whatnot in Japanese ("Destructo Disc" is now reverted back to "Kienzan" for example). I don't know if anything was mentioned about already adequately translated names.
