I....I never even got to play once. OTL

Hopefully they'll do something with the storylines. Don't really want those to be lost forever too.

You still have 1,5 month left to try it!

I'm sad to see it closing, not that I've ever got really into the game during the time it has been open, but because in the back of my mind I always held out hopes that they were going to improve it and give it a wider release.

Essentially I think DBO's downfall isn't just because of its shortcomings as a game, but largely because it hasn't been a profitable venture for them. Going down the F2P route with buy-able content is only really a viable business model when a large number of people are playing the game. Dragonball Online simply never had the user-base.

Well , it will end but guys on DBOCOM are planning on doing private server since the game guard from game was deleted and now they have acess to server files , they also want to rebalance classes and fix some bugs.

I guess this means they can finally rip the in-game models with their rigs too? That would be VERY beneficial to me...

Brilliant! Maybe we'll then see a full English translation.

You know, as a programmer - I'd be interested in getting involved with that.

I don't know much about these things... but does this mean that the game will continue unofficially?

That sounds cool actually! If they will manage to translate it and keep it alive like forever..... But let's be real. That will cost helluva money to keep the game on server with huge traffic.

The game didn't really have a huge player-base to begin, partially owing to the reason why it's closing. The Western community who actually play/have played the game is relatively small, so I think a single private server is manageable and realistic.

Really? I thought that there was load of people as I played, but well, yeah, the server wasn't populated that much as I'm used to with other games.

Where can I read more or know more about the story? It says Miira invades and conquers Earth in 2000, what exactly is going on around that time? What's up with Towa and his son Fu, how come he will be a big role in the future?
So many keypoinys from the story, especially about Miira and how DBO ends, is missing.

Pretty much all the main story information we have is available in the links in my signature. Anything else besides that and really wouldn't trust the information.

I just turned Dragon Ball Online, and it saddens me how in only few days it will be gone forever...
All the nostalgia, this was my first MMORPG and it was fun (Until level 60 cap max, never bothered after 70 update.)

That went too fast! I remember when everyone was excited at the first scan and trailer:

It was fun

Oh man, that first update picture...that takes me back. That first surfaced in 2007, right? I think it had to have because I remember being super excited for what seemed to be new, 'substantial' material for the series, just before I graduated high school.

I don`t understand, why it didn`t get released worldwide? I'm certain it would sell very well.

There are far better MMORPGs out there, it's a very competitive market, the target audience would have to be those willing to play a MMORPG and who are into Dragon Ball, that must be a small percentage. Many of us would love to try it, but would we be willing to spend countless hours on it? I probably wouldn't.
The game wasn't that popular in Korea, which is where MMORPGs are most popular, they tried to launch it in Hong Kong and Taiwan but it seems that it did not get enough praise to justify keeping it going. Maybe if they released it worldwide they would have gotten enough, but at the same time that means more responsibility and more communities to watch over.

Let's recap, they decided to launch a Dragon Ball game, which have extremely bad fame for being shitty games in the first place; the type of game? MMORPG, a genre which has been dominated by franchises with solid footing. Also, you get to replay the main story but with a twist, something we have been doing for nearly 30 fucking years. Not the smartest of moves, in my opinion.

The gameplay itself was quite good for a MMORPG (I had tried quite a few), just that it didn't have enough (if any) end-game content to keep the players interested. I'm into PVP and quite fast leveling, so DBO was perfect in that regard. If not for imbalanced races/classes and overpriced item upgrades, I probably would've kept playing it, as I quit when I had reached the level cap of the time (50) and had nothing to do but grind for money/equipment/upgrades which was annoying.

Literally the only thing about this game worth mourning is its mythos. The gameplay is completely generic as an MMORPG, the graphics are ugly (even when it was new), and the progression is pretty boring. My remorse over the game's demise would disappear if it gained life elsewhere, maybe in the form of a manga or anime series, or even as a set in Dragon Ball Heroes, as suggested in the podcast.

After all, Akira Toriyama took the time to create the story, the timeline, the characters, and all the designs. It would be a shame if it went to waste.
