Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

I would've guessed it at originally being possibly a recording for One Piece, but as far as I know, Horikawa doesn't any main or supporting characters in OP. (ANN is down atm so I can't double-check there; he may have been a really minor character, but nobody arc-related like Nozawa's Kureha.)

Well the One Piece anime is approaching a new story arc. So it's possible Horikawa could have role as one of the new characters. Which would be awesome! That still doesn't explain why Nozawa and Furukawa are there though. Because Kureha hasn't been in any of the recent manga chapters, and Ace he's...um...well...y'know! I mean, he could maybe appear in a flashback!

By the way, do you guys think we'll get a new opening and ending for this movie, or will it be "movie-like" with just the credits showing up as the action goes at the beginning and scrolling on a black screen at the end?

I have to ask, because I don't know how theatrical manga movies are made nowadays, I don't know if the recent One Piece or Naruto movies have a specific opening and ending or if it's all presented like a live-action movie...

I haven't seen most One Piece movies, and I'm a few behind on the Naruto ones, but I think usually it's a no opening deal, but there's usually an ending theme, that may or may not have accompanying animation.

On the flip side though, FMA: Conqueror of Shamballa had an opening song/animation and an ending both, and I think even more recently the Star of Milos film also had an opening and ending theme (not sure about animation).

Personally, I could see it not having an 'opening' per say, but it'll most likely definitely have an ending theme of some sort.

If a single new theme is announced for a movie it's typically an ending theme. For Dragon Ball, we've typically seen the new theme be an ending, so if Kageyama really is involved, he'll probably perform a new ending. I think it would be cool if they re-created We Gotta Power's animation and used that for an opening, though.

Strong World did have an opening theme and ending theme (The opening; it was so fun, I still sometimes listen to that bonus track.) but they tied in with the goings on of the movie itself.

Just thought; do you think there'll be an artbook for this like there was for Strong World? With Toriyama artwork and all? *_*

I think Toriyama was at that Maximum the Hormone concert because he likes their music/they've done tributes to DB. I doubt it ties into this film at all.

Like B said, the concert event is almost certainly unrelated. And the "wrapping something up" was confirmed by one of the VA's themselves as not being related to the film. Turns out it is most likely related to the continuation of Kai.

So, One Piece Film Z officially premiered last night, meaning production on Dragon Ball Z might very well end in early February. Shida Naotoshi has three months to do a nice cut of animation! O.o

The 30th Prize Fair was held in Tokyo on November 7, and Bandai showed the new DB figures coming in this winter. Their catalog features Zoukei Tenkaichi Budokai 3 and some palm-sized figures of the characters from the upcoming movie. Surprisingly, Emperor Pilaf and his henchmen are included in them, which means that they'll show up in the movie..

...Hells yeah! I like the idea of seeing Pilaf and crew again. Though that does throw a bit of a hitch into a fanfic idea I've had. I knew I was right to postpone working on it until I see what this new movie entails.
