For once FUNimation is doing something different and yet people complain.
I've never had any complaints with the designs of the past releases. I've been complaining about how characters are always drawn fucking poorly.

Are you kidding me? You're buying this JUST for the cover art? It's quite sad when the art on the cover is the sole reason people are buying this.

I kinda like the cover art yeah some of the characters such as Bulma were drawn off model but I still like the fact that the story line is being shown thru the connecting covers. Regardless of how you feel about it you have to admit that they're something different and they would defiantly stick out in a crowd. Judging by the way the characters feet are cut off I assume they won't be connecting the images in one long straight line instead they'll most likely place season 4 under season 1 and then season 5 to the right of season 4 and season 6 to the right of season 5 all of them connecting to one another as well as to the bottoms on seasons 1-3. Then they would again move down a row for seasons 6-9 thus creating a rectangular poster that contains the entire DBZ story line.

This is an 80s/90s animated all-ages show that was popular amongst kids. It's not some potent super weapon that might fall into the wrong hands that we have to protect from evil.

One Question that some of you might know:

1) What is the source of these episodes, from the Orange Brick High-Definition remasters?

If someone can answer this I'll either pre-order it asap or skip. The high-def Orange Bricks seemed to look pretty good but I dunno now.

So I hear FUNimation has asked the Kanzenshuu about the Blu-rays? I want to know why the DBZ home videos are always so bare bones. There are fans who like to know how these shows got made. I know money is likely the reason why they are bare bones, but I like to have commentaries and more behind the scenes features. I loved the extras in the first DBZ Ultimate Uncut volume and I wanted to see more of those.

The press release specifically states:
FUNimation wrote:Included in the Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray Season Sets will be a nine-part extra features special that spans the entirety of the releases. Each Season Set will include brand new cast interviews, retrospectives, and fan submissions.

These are probably either using the Level transfer or a new transfer as they appear closer to the levels than the orange brick transfer.

Wow, why?

I got the orange bricks because it was an easy way to collect the whole series at the time, sure as shit I wasn't going to buy more than 1 release of the series so I didn't bother with Dragonbox

Then I see the level sets and they looked AMAZING, couldn't afford them at the time, and what do you know they stopped making them. And this is what we get to deal with after the level sets? Looks like crap, I didn't think the orange bricks were that bad at the time, but when I saw the level sets there was just no comparison in quality, I really hope there's some way to get them to release the level sets again, or if they're going to continue with this crappy blu-ray release they have now at least re-cast all of the dialogue like they did with Kai to make it somewhat worth it

You know? I have no passionate feelings about the cover art one way or the other. There are problems, but overall, I find them aesthetically pleasing. If you like them, that's great. If you don't, that's also great. But to buy these Blu-rays just because of the cover art? I'm not sure how to politely say that I think that's insane, so I'll just move on. That does blow my mind, but it's your money, and you're free to waste it however you choose. What bothers me is what a wonderful message this sends to FUNimation. "We can treat the property like garbage. We can put the worst quality as possible on there. Hell, we could present it as a postage stamp-sized MPEG, and people will still buy it for the cover art?! SCORE!"

I agree, Amazon shouldn't let in early reviews, doesn't make sense, they don't for games so why not everything?

same, I was holding back and when Funi released the description and said region A I was bummed lol then the Amazon updated their pic and the dics showing AB made me happy again lol
£20 plus shipping great deal imo. Considering the orange bricks go for similar price.

Knowing this'll probably sell well, I'm at least a little bit happy knowing that this'll finally kill off the OBs and make them obsolete. :P

Well... can't argue with you there, but isn't that like replacing a dog turd with a cat turd... in HD?

I think these will likely sell well. The orange bricks sold great because Funi did a great job on marketing on them and you can find them at casual places. I think these will replace the Orange bricks as the DVD selection at stores lately are becoming smaller thanks to Blu-Ray. Blu-Ray has become the main market for home video and DVD will die out in the next few years like VHS did after the early 2000's.
