Yeah it looks likely, Toriyama did say they'll finally depart this universe that hasn't happened yet.

They already did depart when they went to Neutral Space for the tournament. That was the point. That they wouldn't be in Universe 6 or 7.

When he was hinting at future Trunks he said something about them going to another universe so they'll be going somewhere but I'm not sure if he was talking about trunks' arc or the arc after that.

I agree with the ones saying that Trunks becoming a SSGSS would be bulls***, hope Super don't go that way.

I wish SSJ2 was still a thing and relevant so Trunks could at least be somewhat useful. Very unlikely he'll be anything more than fodder in this series.

No way, this is the worst thing that could happen. We need variety which is the shows worst problem, he can have a big role but no more Super Saiyan Blue characters.

As long as he's as powerful as goku and vegeta I don't care what form he's in. It would be cool imo to have all the characters having different god forms. Namekia, human, saiyan and maybe the half saiyans can have a fusion of human and saiyan gods.

Goku doesn't know when the tournament will be, just that it will be "sometime soon" and as we have seen with Gods they don't see years as much time at all.

I'm betting Trunks will have a new form that isn't "Super Saiyan", but something making use of both his Saiyan and Human blood. One that Goku and Vegeta can't obtain. I really wish this would happen so he could teach it to Gohan and make the cast somewhat useful again. They wouldn't have to be as strong as Super Saiyan Blue, but good god at least put them above Super Saiyan 3.

trunks should just be a ssj 2 or at a MASSIVE push ssj3 and he gets away with some help.

But i think he will be a ssj god or even ssj blue and he will have t by some stupid reason. Probably a bit below the goku and vegeta.

the fact he barely escapes with his life shows that imo. i assume this black goku will be stronger then our goku so if trunks is anything other then a god he would be done in one hit i.e beerus versus the others on the boat.

Won't fans bitch about how he is useless compare to Goku and Vegeta if he does not have a new transformation or is on the same level as them? I think he becomes SSjGSSj, they could explain it. Whis and Beerus most likely are still around in Trunks timeline. Maybe Whis trains Trunks in his timeline before the events of Super.

I'm hoping they don't just go ahead and have him skip transformations and go straight to SSG or SSGSS. While I hope he is relevant, it is a tad repetitive to be giving everyone the power of a god. I thought the god transformation was something special that couldn't be attained by simply reaching a certain level of power. That whole logic pretty much got thrown out the window

As long as he trains with whis I'm fine. Anyone who does training with whis or the ritual should be able to get it. It wouldn't make sense for future trunks to be unable to get it because he was never any less talented than Vegeta

Yeah, If Goku and Vegeta could do it, then Future trunks and Piccolo should at least do it. Future trunks out of necessity and Piccolo because why not? The dude likes fighting and it's annoying to see him fall so far behind. Same with Krillin, but in Krillin's case it seems like a completely lost case. I'd prefer if goten, trunks, and gohan did it also. But, Goten and trunks were already established as being weak in EOZ so unless we go further or contradict it then that won't happen. And no one knows what's happening with Gohan so.

It boggles my mind how the others don't get that thought into their head. Somebody like Gohan for instance, who is known to have hidden potential, would thrive under Whis.

I've lost hope for any other character though minus Future Trunks to ever obtain God Ki or at east be serviceable against major villains. Gotenks seems to be only used for comedic purposes, and Piccolo's hope was lost the second he forfeited that fight against Magetta which annoyed the crap out of me still to this day.

The humans are just background fodder at this point, only being spectators at major events, and this includes Android 18, who's role in Super has been to sit and watch as well despite her being relatively powerful.

Trunks will obviously use Ssj blue to kill Golden Mecha Frieza on the june 19th episode.
