Whew! I managed to get the day off to go see the movie at the AMC Showplace 16 in Rockford.
I think the last time I've seen an anime film in theaters was the limited release of Steamboy back in 2004.

Don't hurt my feelings
....but what's the chances Funimation getting the right to release(not necessarily dub) the Jump Special and release it with Battle of Gods? Has there been ANY! hints at it?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

...Why would Funimation not dub if it if they were going to include it with their dubbed release of Battle of Gods?
I've already seen it in Japanese (subbed) when it was streamed for free, so not the biggest bonus as a sub-only release. A dub adds to the incentive, as it's new material for them. Would be new to us to hear it. Besides, they reference Tarble in Battle of Gods, might as well give us his appearance.

I don't know? lol Maybe they don't have the right too or something? idk how that stuff works BUT! I've seen it and I own it as well but I'd just like to see it officially get released. If they dub it that'll be icing on the cake though!Mewzard wrote:...Why would Funimation not dub if it if they were going to include it with their dubbed release of Battle of Gods?

I would not be infinitely surprised if we got a dub of Yo Son Goku and Friends Return one way or another within 1 year.samuraix123 wrote:I don't know? lol Maybe they don't have the right too or something? idk how that stuff works BUT! If they do dub it, they've got to rename it.
Seriously, though, I'm pretty sure we would've already gotten it if they had the rights to it. It's probably some weird copyright thing. Have any other countries gotten this at all?

The title "Yo Son Goku and Friends Return" doesn't wow me but just wondering what name would you give it if the decision was up to you?Valerius Dover wrote:If they do dub it, they've got to rename it.![]()

It depends on how close they want to stay to the Japanese version. They may just go with "Goku and Friends Return".I just think the "Yo" right there seems a bit awkward.

I'm really hoping they do have that special and can put it on the special edition of this release, just like the Japanese release did. I would love if they got to dub it too, but even if they don't, being able to own it would still make me happy.

The last time I checked, not a single Jump special, even ones for other series such as Naruto and One Piece, have ever been released anywhere outside of those Shonen Jump-bundle things. It's clearly a license issue that won't be ending any time soon.

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

While that is true, it did manage to end up re-released with Battle of Gods in Japan, which would have required some rights figuring for Toei as well I would think, so with any luck, maybe those rights issues are a little looser now? There's always hope anyway (but you're sadly probably right).

I guess we'll find out a little after August hopefully. I'm hoping the pre-order pops up after August. Does anyone know any software I can download on my computer to let me play Japanese DVDs? because the Jump Special came with my Battle of Gods.

Is Meredith McCoy really coming back as #18 in this dub? Apparently talk says she is, and Chris Sabat briefly credited her as a voice among the others in his discussion about the red-carpet movie.
Zephyr wrote:The fandom's collective fetishizing of "moments" is also ridiculous to me. No, not everyone needs a fucking "shine" moment. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Indeed she is, it was announced via the Battle of Gods section of the FUNi DBZ site a little while back. Brad Jackson is also returning as Oolong, making them both two former-Z-dub actors to return over their Kai counterparts.SingleFringe&Sparks wrote:Is Meredith McCoy really coming back as #18 in this dub?
