Yet it's still the best selling manga of all time and of 2016. You guys are all saying doom and gloom for no reason :/

That's pretty much this thread in a nutshell  not surprised it's extended to OP!

You have a point, people should just be positive. It seems like they're always focused on trashing OP's "dwindling" popularity (which is a lie) instead of focusing on the rating itself.

I'm sure OP has been through cycles like this before, but yeah it's still absolutely killing it in Japan popularity and merch wise.

Having said that while OP is as it is right, it would be nice if DBS could beat it just once lol.

I mean, I get why people would want that to happen but I think everyone is always setting themselves up for disappointment

DBS tied with it. It'll beat it one day. Never consistently but once is within reach.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

First week sales for volume 83 are 1,631,659 copies.

Which does represent a slight decline from volume 82's "first week" sales of 1,760,192, which itself had a slight decline from volume 81's "first week" of 1,849,584...though it's not quite a fair comparison. The numbers for 81 and 82 account for a full week of sale (actually a little more since some retailers seemingly put them on sale early), while volume 83 released in the middle of the week so it only has about half a week of sales.

Incidentally volume 82 popped up in this week's chart, and it's now up to 2,508,929 (previously it fell off the charts after selling 2,423,144 copies).

It is and it seems great compared to most other manga but the last volume (not the one that just came out) sold 1.76 million copies in 7 days. That was the lowest amount since Volume 58 which was years ago.

This newest volume has sold 1.63 million copies in 3 days so it'll likely sell better but it's still down from when volumes used to sell over 2 million in 3 days.

One Piece Film Gold also made considerably less money than Film Z aswell even though Gold had over twice as many theatres, 3D and IMAX.

So between that, the manga and the TV ratings, it is losing some steam definitely.

Yeah so see that volume sold 2.5 million copies in 4 months. At one point though there were volumes that sold more than that in just 10 days. Volume 66 sold 2.69 million copies in 12 days.

One piece isn't going anywhere. I'm not surprised by any decline though, because imo it got boring after the time skip. Haven't even bothered to read it since half way through dressrosa

Glad I'm not the only one to feel this way, Oda's constant bloating of the cast to make things epic to remake the thrill of the Paramount War got really obnoxious.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

The ratings won't make justice to this last episode.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I'd be very disappointed, if that turns out to be the case.
I'm expecting at least on par with One Piece and maybe even beyond!
I predict a rating of 7.8.

Call me crazy, but I have a feeling it will crack the 8.0 barrier.

Dare to dream.

This is probably our best chance of beating OP, but I just can't see it happening. We'll most likely just help OP out if we get more viewers.

6.4 I'm saying. Hopefully that's enough to beat OP this week.

I'm not expecting too much, if it can top a 6.0 that'll be something. I don't think people were aware that this was supposed to be the finale of the saga were they? So any boost on ratings is just going to come from Vegito.

There was that magazine that was promoting it during the week and the Super twitter account was hyping it up on the day but that's about it.

This is impossible. With its current time slot db will never surpass op. The reason is that once people watch db They will stay for op.
Why skip an op episode?
You are awake, you are drinking your milk and eat your breakfast and the TV is on. Why skip op ? Unless of course you hate it. As tv program is now, db is basically the introduction show to op and this is not an accident. Op and db been equal is basically db winning.
