Like others, I'm really pleased with Bailey's new take on Trunks, though I knew she would give a better performance after hearing the brief snippet of her Kid Vegeta in Kai. I would bet money that her overly raspy voice in the original Dragon Ball Z was the result of bad direction, anyway. They probably wanted her to match the sound of Future Trunk's voice, or something dumb like that.
It's a shame Kai has been such a complete and utter mess on the Japanese side, when Funimation's voice actors are giving such stellar performances lately. Where Funimation has taken one step forward (not counting the DBZ Blu Rays, of course), Toei has taken two steps back.

...I don't know what to say about this Pilaf clip, as far as Trunks goes, because...honestly, it doesn't sound that different to me. Then again, I never had a problem with her Trunks (at least, not past that first episode where she had discovered her Shin-chan voice without realizing it...), so maybe that's making it harder for me to notice the difference than it is for those that didn't used to like her Trunks.
As far as the Pilaf gang goes though, woo-hoo! Huber is still rocking it, and if I'm not mistaken, it sounds like he's trying to make Pilaf sound a little bit younger in a few lines. Can't really tell if Cason is doing the same for Shu. Colleen as Mai...that's gonna take some getting used to for some reason. It's not that I dislike it, it's just...different. Then again, how did she sound as older Mai in the Wii game?

Yeah, I never had a problem with her voice either, as it really fit as a young take on Vale's voice, but the lack of rasp was a welcome change.Gyt Kaliba wrote:...I don't know what to say about this Pilaf clip, as far as Trunks goes, because...honestly, it doesn't sound that different to me. The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Wow, really diggin' Bailey's new take on Trunks. Makes me wonder how great Gotenks is going to sound now.

Thanks for the link Goken. Hmm...her voice there sounds a lot more fitting for what I'd imagine Mai to sound like. I guess it's just that Colleen is trying to do what a kid version of the character would sound like here, not to mention that she might not really remember what she did as the character before - this was the only other time she's played the role I think, whereas Huber and Cason have had a lot of time with their characters.

I feel like people are confusing "better acting" as "completely different voice." Most of these guys sound the same as they did in the TV show proper circa '02-'03. Just not, y'know, completely amateurish.

FUNimation put up another clip, but um...I'm pretty sure we've already had this one, as part of the big 7 minute clip they put out a while back after showing it at a con.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO_CvbncFmE&hd=1
Yeah, they did. It's pretty much just Beerus taking out Boo, Gohan, Vegeta, Gotenks, and the others over not getting any pudding.
Edit: I also noticed these three 'Battle of Gods 101' videos they've put out so far, that I don't think have been posted about yet (but if they have, my apologies). It's basically a short talk with the dub voice actors, and there's one with Chris Sabat on Vegeta, Jason Douglas on Beerus, and Sean Schemmel on Goku, so far.

Well, the american fanbase dont need to go the theater anymore.
Funimation already uploaded the entire movie.

...There's still a pretty good amount of movie that we haven't seen yet, and I'd imagine a big part of going to see it in theaters is seeing it on the big screen, not just seeing it in English.

If that's the case, then I apologize, and curse how hard it is to tell sarcasm over the internet, bah. I've actually seen people complaining about all of the clips coming out on other forums though, for some reason or another, so that made it doubly hard to tell.

I'm gonna join the chorus here and say that I'm also loving Kid Trunks. Bailey seems to be killing it.

I'm not sure why you guys are digging that Trunks voice. He sounds like a plain boy. Is that why, maybe? He sounds miles from the Japanese version, actually he sounded closer to that before the VA. changed her take on the character.

While I admit that I haven't heard any of Kusao's take in Boo Kai...the further away we get from his original Z take, the better, in my books. His young Trunks has always just sounded so...nasally, to me. Though he did sound better in Battle of Gods, a bit.sangofe wrote:I'm not sure why you guys are digging that Trunks voice.
