I like doing levels for this saga, because Buu makes everything so simple with his ability to absorb people- it's simply additive. Basically, I did what the original writer did: I made everyone as strong as they need to be. Ultimate Gohan dominates Super Buu and gets dominated by Buutenks. Fat Buu gets dominated by Super Saiyan 3 Goku and dominates the Super Saiyan 2s. Goku states that he's weaker than Super Buu, but Gotenks is able to fight evenly with Super Buu. Et cetera. Pretty basic stuff.

One I'd like to explain though: the Southern Supreme Kai. A lot of people place this guy as really weak, but I disagree. There is obviously a sizable gap in power between Kid Buu and Super Buu, and the sole difference between them is that Super Buu has most of the Southern Supreme Kai's power. Supreme Kai also goes out of his way to say that the one of the two Kais that Buu absorbed was powerful, like that meant something. I've heard people say that this is only because Kaioshin energy effects Buu differently, but there's no real evidence for that. It was noted that 1 person, that being the Grand Supreme Kai, affected Buu in an abnormal way. If the Southern Supreme Kai had a similar effect, the Eastern Supreme Kai would probably mention THAT, rather than just mention that the Southern Supreme Kai was strong. And finally; I'm the kind of guy who'll accept anime filler if it doesn't contradict anything. And the filler where the Southern Supreme Kai manages to fight evenly with Kid Buu doesn't just not contradict the manga, it supports what the manga says and implies.

So, that's it. Anything I missed? Like I said last time, I'm not as familiar with the Buu saga as the others, so I easily could've made a mistake.

Well Freeza is pretty damn old, but yeah, I guess that makes sense. Does this mean that Pui Pui has been serving Babidi for that long?

I just don't think South Kaioshin can be that powerful, because otherwise Kaioshin wouldn't have been as impressed by Goku or Gohan's power. I think they should both be stronger than any of the Kaioshin.

Southern Supreme Kai is the difference between Super Buu and Kid Buu. To have it make sense, you'd either have to make the Southern Supreme Kai strong (as is implied in the manga and shown in the anime) or just have him affect Buu in a unique way- and I'm sorry, but there's no real evidence for the latter. If there was, the Eastern Supreme Kai would've mentioned it, rather than just mentioning that the Southern Supreme Kai was strong. He mentioned that the Grand Supreme Kai had the unique effect of making Buu weaker, yet didn't say that the Southern Supreme Kai had a unique effect in making Buu much stronger? Why would he do that?

I've kind of learned to stop taking the Eastern Supreme Kai's reaction to things as reliable indicators of power, as otherwise you may end with a base Vegeta > Pui Pui > SS2 Gohan chain. If he contradicts himself, like he often does, I usually just go with the reaction/statement he had/made that makes the most sense in the context of everything else.

The thing is, Boo reverts to Buff Boo without having South Kaioshin absorbed any more. So even though his ki went up I don't think it's an indication that Boo was that strong when he was the "proper" Buff Boo. As ki can be effected by the state of mind, he could as easily had his ki spike momentarily from the pressure of reverting.

South Kaioshin being that strong puts a huuuuuge gap between him and East Kaioshin, and while I know East Kaioshin is the weakest of the group, I have to wonder where that puts the average Kaioshin. If they have it in them to reach SS3 level power just because of whatever it is they do, I can't see the average being weaker than Super Saiyan Gohan, so how could multitudes of Kaioshin fail to pull out the Z Sword? If the majority are in fact too weak to free the Z Sword, why the hell is South Kaioshin way, way beyond them?

It's a different case with Pui Pui and Vegeta, because Kaioshin was worried that Vegeta wasn't taking things seriously enough with Pui Pui and might give Majin Boo energy, but with Gohan and Goku he flat out thinks their power is amazing. He shouldn't really think that Gohan can remove the Z Sword if he's weaker than his Kaioshin buddies, unless he believes they're all capable of it... in which case it wouldn't be a big deal at all.

It's technically never stated that Buu simply adds the absorbees power to his own when he transforms. Since his own body and personality also undergo changes when he absorbs people, I wouldn't have much trouble believing that his power increases were less straight forward than that--and if that were always the case, I wouldn't find it strange for Kaioshin not to mention this case specifically. Buu simply absorbed the strong and burly Kaioshin and became stronger and burlier himself.

Well, not strong enough for Boo to absorb him, no reason for Boo doing that was given. As said, this is a different (personality of) Boo than the one we saw only absorbing people when he was outclassed. He could have done it for any reason, he's the least predictable Boo.

It sounds like a plot hole if you ask me, given that there is almost a 1 year gap between Z-Sword's introduction & Pure Boo's introduction, and since we know that Toriyama doesn't plan things & forgets easily minor things,

I still think S. Kaioshin creates the problem of other Kaioshin either having the potential to reach his realm of power, or just being in his own realm of power which doesn't make sense.

Like East Kaioshin, they didn't train enough, or he liked & was more talented at fighting than them, or both. They are the same type of gods, but they don't need to be equals.

Anyway, finished Bojack Unbound and added it to my Cell Games list. My next post will be a gigantic mega-post with all of my power levels from the King Piccolo saga to the Buu saga, mostly for my own convenience.

Also, I'd like to point out that purely strength-based feats are really, really inconsistent and not good indicators of power. This inconsistency is the whole reason weighted clothing and gravity training actually do anything.

I know they don't need to be equals, but it's a really huge difference. I think they'd be in the same ballpark. If S. Kaioshin was that strong, and the others were still too weak to draw the Z Sword, they'd kind of all look weak in comparison which would make it odd to focus on East being the weakling... I don't know, it just seems that I can't see any angle at which this doesn't look confusing.

Power level update

Changing the subject a bit, Birus says that he heard Goku was the one who defeated Freeza. However, he thinks Goku as he is now would not be capable of defeating Freeza, but apparently he can by powering up by transforming into a Super Saiyan, and yet he has never heard of Super Saiyan God.

According to this quote from the summary, Goku's base never surpassed full power Freeza. (kaioken however is still up for debate)

Maybe, but I don't know. Doesn't effect me because I don't have base Goku stronger than Freeza anyway.

He has to be suppressed, Future Cell pretty much confirms future Trunks > future Androids in base.

Works for me. A few key things:

- Goku is at Kaio's place to train, and is already excited to fight Beers when he and Whis arrive. He wouldn't have any reason to be suppressed.
- Beers is a lot more likely to be able to judge Goku's power than someone who relies on a scouter like Tarble.
- The context of the "can't beat Freeza like this" judgement is in regards to not being a Super Saiyan, not due to being suppressed.

I guess one could still write it off as "he was just suppressed" if they really wanted to, but for once, that'd be going against the grain. I've long believed that Goku and the other base Saiyans weren't necessarily stronger than Freeza yet at any given point (though that's not from having anything against it; just not finding it necessary). It's nice to have some extra backing for that particular stance.
