When we are talking about what to cut out from Z, I'm definately for That episode with orphans, Gohan's second transformation with Goku's ship nonsense and that Arlia assault..... I was reall annoyed with Vegeta's super two-finger attacks and his destroying of the planet

Him building the raft was just the first thing that sprung to mind, sorry.

Either way though, I still think there's an excessive amount of Gohan material in that list. Let the other characters get some more play too, I say. But again, I don't think there's going to be even a quarter of what you got up there, so it's all just fun/speculative/wishful thinking.
True, true. I really wished Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Krillin, Yajirobe etc. had way more screentime but even in the filler they weren't shown much. However, the Pendulum Room episode was crappy (in my opinion).
I don't know, what I really don't like about that Saiyans is, how they are looking..... I don't like that design and that wird attacks

I actually quite enjoyed the Arlia episode... ! Of all the filler from the Saiya-jin saga, that was easily amongst the most entertaining to watch. I guess it ruins some of the 'suspense' of being introduced to Vegeta and Nappa when they arrive on earth, but I feel it works better to build up the suspense by giving us some basic background information on who they are and what they are capable of.

Of course, I totally agree about the orphanage episode being completely intolerable, as well as the second transformation episode, which actually creates a rather large plot hole! That definitely needs to be removed.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Yeah, I'll never really think of Arlia the same way again.

Hell, while watching the subtitle-less Kai, I'm having a hard time remembering the REAL dialogue instead of Team FourStar's.

So true. I was practically anticipating the cut to Oolong followed by Vegeta and Nappa when Goku starts talking back to Raditz in the second episode .

I personally think they'll pull off some kind of filler training montage when the time comes to those episodes. I mean, at the pace things have been going, I wouldn't put it past them.

Also, how do you think Toei will handle things like backstories going into the original DB series? From what I heard, the start of the second episode (missed the very start of it) had a flashback to the 23rd Budoukai stuff to better flesh out Piccolo's character. Do you think they'll do this with other characters, too? If so, I was thinking something similar to those character profiles they had (dunno if they still do) at the end of some Naruto episodes. It would kinda take away from the preview for the next episode, is the only problem I'd see with that.

Meh, I don't really care either way. I mean we all practically know the series by heart now, right?

It's really starting to sink in that this is a whole new era for Dragonball fandom. Being a fairly new fan myself, this is really the defining point in a new time period in my history with Dragonball (the previous turning point was before Daizenshuu EX and post Daizenshuu EX).

These next two years will be a completely new time for me especially, since I only got to see a few episodes of the show on TV, before Cartoon Network took the show off... and those were dubbed.

Kai episode 1 earns an average household rating of 11.3.....whatever that means. ^^;

Either way, we're #4 on the top 10 list.

Anime rankings in Japan ALWAYS cheer me up. :D
Getting to see Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Detective Conan all on the Top 10 reminds me that I'm not alone in my preferred series.

I remember seeing that in some earlier posting. Thing is, after people saw the first episode and decided on whether or not they liked it, I'm wondering what Episode 2's rating were...

ANN's usually a week behind in getting ahold of the ratings, so we probably won't know episode 2's fate until next week. :(

Either way, I'm happy to see it in the Top 10. :3 (And so high too.)

I'm sure episode two will be lower, than episode one. When Dragonball premiered, the ratings shared for the second episode dropped .5% from the first (and then 3.0% from there). When DBZ premiered, the ratings for the second episode dropped 2.1% from the first. When GT premiered, the ratings for the second episode went up .1% from the first... but started dropping quickly after the third episode (GT is just weird).

The whole "let's watch it live" hype generally sticks around just for the first episode, and after that people start to lose interest.

Haha dude, that movie was so short I think we were out before Kai finished. And well before any upload went up.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

So far I'm enjoying Kai. I mean who really wouldn't want a fat free DBZ? I hope this airs on TV in the US. But first I'm praying it'll get a dub.

Chubby-chasers?

In all seriousness though, folks, I thought Episode 2 moved rather slow compared to the first episode. But that's probably because I have a minimal understanding of Japanese and this episode was mostly exposition; I'm sure for those with a grasp of Japanese it flew by like a streaker at a football game.

Does anyone know all of the Channels Kai is airing on? All I know of are Fuji TV Analog and Digital, but it seems like there are more; but I might just be crazy.

Yeah, somebody mentioned that it was on another channel or something (don't really remember) and I was confused about that.

So has Kai been advertised madly on japanese TV and in magazines? Think back to the good old Toonami and the constant advertisement we had of Z when it was being aired. I just wondered if they had the same kind of commercials and if so can they be found anywhere online?

The only video advertaisments I've seen are two that were aired on TV, one that was only displayed at a convention, a Dream 9 promo on Fuji TV and a Kamehameha bracelet commercial that mentioned Kai at the end.
