Re: FUNI Super dub - What are your wishes?
Speaking as a person who can't stand the Faulconer soundtrack, I don't really have a problem with Funimation including the broadcast score in their home release of Dragon Ball Z, as long as Kikuchi's is the default. I definitely agree that it was dumb to replace the score in the first place and I think Funimation should've just used the Kikuchi score to begin with, but what happened, happened. There's no use trying to pretend the Faulconer score doesn't exist, and if someone enjoys it, let them enjoy it. Of course, adding a replacement score in Super would be a terrible idea and there's no way that the Funimation of today would do it.

Preferring and enjoying a certain score is one thing, but when you constantly and I mean CONSTANTLY see comments of people pining, whining, and downright demanding Faulconer to return, it doesnt take much to build up a resentment to everything related to it. Its like you cant escape it whenever DBZ and its music is brought up and it gets horribly annoying.DanielSSJ wrote: There's no use trying to pretend the Faulconer score doesn't exist, and if someone enjoys it, let them enjoy it.

Heh, all this talk about morality and insults and shit really has me wondering if some people at Toei thought the same way as some of yall. As a matter in fact, to this day, I still find it a complete shock that Funi succeeded with the Falconer score and NEVER HAD TO be forced to change the score ONCE! I never read any rumors about fans and crazy weaboos(the ones who pretend everything in Japanese is infinite times better) writing death threats to get rid of the score. Maybe if some of yall were at your 20s and 30s back in the 90s, maybe they would've listened back then. I dunno. Hey mods, were you old enough to speak your minds against the Faulconer scores back then? And if you were, did you write them letters? And most of all, WHERE WAS TORIYAMA?! Was he mad about Faulconer too like yall are?
Just make sure yall don't go ahead and call the replacement soundtrack for BT2 and BT3 insults, or it's on!

Oh yes, I agree. It's also the same way I felt when people were begging and demanding for Dimps to put Kikuchi's tracks in for Xenoverse, but there wasn't any outrage about people constantly demanding it, was there? And no, I don't hate Kikuchi...anymore.KentalSSJ6 wrote: Preferring and enjoying a certain score is one thing, but when you constantly and I mean CONSTANTLY see comments of people pining, whining, and downright demanding Faulconer to return, it doesnt take much to build up a resentment to everything related to it. I'm aware it was a necessity, but I take issue with them being allowed to replace music otherwise as they please just because they're the show's creators. I don't think they have a right to tamper with the show once it's been made any more than George Lucas has a right to tamper with Star Wars once it's been made.Kaboom wrote:Kikuchi's score being put in Kai is perfectly fine because 1) it's Toei's prerogative as the show's creators to replace the music if they deem it necessary, and 2) Yamamoto's plagiarism shenanigans probably did make it necessary. I really want to stress the "as the show's creators" part. It's their creation, so it's cool if they decide to do that stuff for some good reason. FUNi's job is only to dub it, so it wasn't and still wouldn't be cool or okay for them to do things like swap out the music in the process.
Re: FUNI Super dub - What are your wishes?
They didn't replace music "as they please", they replaced music to avoid getting their asses sued.

Come on let's get real. Super's score is fucking terrible. It bores you to tears. The original JPNese score had some good songs, but this has 1 good song max.
Faulconer's music did for DB in North America what the Pokemon theme song did. Even people who don't watch Pokemon love that song, and it made the series just that much more exciting. (Yes it is possible for one song to do that much in terms of promotion/nostalgia)

While I will agree that Super's music is pretty bland, I don't think that replacing it with Faulconer's score would be an improvement.DragonHermit wrote:Come on let's get real. Also, if a show has to rely on nostalgia in order to be popular, then what does it say about the quality of said show?

Was thinking lately, if there are new characters, would you guys want them voiced by veterans, or guys are more new to voice acting or guys who haven't been in big roles yet?

You mean "be a completely unnecessary change?"DragonHermit wrote:Faulconer's music did for DB in North America what the Pokemon theme song did.
I have a huge nostalgic love for the US Pokemon theme too. But I also have no doubt that kids in the West would have loved and cherished a halfway-accurate English adaptation of Mezase Pokemon Master just as much as they did with the US theme song.

I do. The american theme was leagues better than that.Kaboom wrote:You mean "be a completely unnecessary change?"DragonHermit wrote:Faulconer's music did for DB in North America what the Pokemon theme song did.

Gonna repeat my last sentiment, skip. the. fucking. movie- re-tellings! Just rebrand BoG & F as prologues to Super, air those before the U6 arc, tell the re-tellings to go drop dead in a vat of acid and I'll be satisfied.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

Remember...that's also an insult to the series too, just as bad as replacement scores.ekrolo2 wrote:Gonna repeat my last sentiment, skip. the. fucking. movie- re-tellings! Re: FUNI Super dub - What are your wishes?
As insulting as the existence of these re-tellings is? I doubt it, given how mediocre Sumitomo's score is for Super I doubt many people here would be opposed to someone else coming in and (God forbid) ejecting some energy into the soundtrack at least even if its a replacement score. Might be blasphemy to say so but the whole replacement score thing is an "issue" I don't really care about as long as the music is good.EXBadguy wrote:Remember...that's also an insult to the series too, just as bad as replacement scores.ekrolo2 wrote:Gonna repeat my last sentiment, skip. the. fucking. movie- re-tellings! I wish for them to skip the first two arcs and just start with the Champa/U6 content. They can always come back later and release the first two arcs as "Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Saga" and "Dragon Ball Super: Golden Frieza Saga". I know some people might say "Revival of Frieza Saga" is better (and it probably is), since Resurrection F came out already, I kind of like Golden Frieza Saga better because DB Sagas usually just use villain names as their titles.

Since Tights is voiced by Bulma's seiyuu, would it be possible to have the daughters of Dr. Brief to be voiced by the two actresses be like this:
* Tiffany Vollmer (Bulma) and Monica Rial (Tights) (SCENARIO A)
* Monica Rial (Bulma) and Colleen Clinkenbeard (Tights) (SCENARIO B)
* Monica Rial (Bulma) and Kara Edwards (Tights) (SCENARIO C)

^I could potentially see either of Scenarios B or C happening, though it would perhaps be nice if they got someone new to Dragon Ball.

Re: FUNI Super dub - What are your wishes?
Getting the original sound effects back. Barring that, being released in Surround Sound in the DVD/Blu-Ray like the previous shows, so that fan edited audio with original sound effects are released later. As much as I prefer the Japanese cast, the changes in sound effects are unacceptable. It's like changing the lightsaber sound effects in Star Wars, or changing the VWORP VWORP from Doctor Who, or giving the Road Runner a completely different "voice" for his Meep-Meeping. These sound effects are iconic for their respective franchises, and it saddens me that Super replaced practically all of the iconic sounds that the Dragon Ball franchise had.

I picture Rob Paulsen dubbing Champa in my head, but I doubt he will ever dub a Dragon Ball character.

My wish is for it to come out before 2018 but i highly doubt it will get released before it is aired on Toonami which means we got a long wait ahead of us :'(
