This will be the dub that airs on Cartoon Network Africa later this year.
Because there aren't many other English speaking territories in the region, they may want to use this dub to help them translate into their native language.

No Turner Channel has picked the show up for UK broadcast (if they had have done so, it would have been this dub).
Although the dub is owned by Turner, in theory, they can sublicense it out if other Networks requested to use it.

Before anyone asks, this information was given to me by a reliable source from Turner Asia.

I assume Funimation also hold the same right to license their dub out anywhere, as their dub isn't owned by any specific Network.

There is still hope for any non-Turner owned Network within the EMEA region to air Funi's.
Very Interesting. I suspected that Africa would get this dub so it's good to finally confirm that. As far as I'm aware no Turner network in the UK airs anime anymore so unless we suddenly see the return of Toonami UK I'm not holding my breath for a UK airing. I suppose Kix could become interested again although something tells me they probably had a good reason not to renew their Dragon Ball license with Toei the first time around, perhaps it was too costly for them, not being a major kids channel.

This makes me wonder if Turner were also the ones behind the Ocean dub of Dragonball Kai as well.

Interesting. So there might be African other language dubs made from this dub? Or even European ones?

As far as I know Cartoon Network Africa is exclusively in English and mainly operates on DSTV in South Africa, the majority of media in South Africa is in English ( we have 11 official languages but English is the de facto language of Education and Business) the only African language dub of anything I can recall is that back in the 90's there was an isiXhosa dub of Spiderman the animated series(which unfortunately does not exist online) and their was also an extremely popular Afrikaans dub of Heidi back in the 80's but by the end of the 90's they stopped dubbing stuff and everything is in English.

I have located someone able to record it, though it will be with their cell phone camera. Better than nothing I suppose. I realize it isn't ideal so hopefully we can help upgrade their equipment before the 21st.
Great news.

I would ask this person if they can record the audio by having their phone close to the TV (or whatever other device they are watching the dub on). If this person can get a good audio file of the dub that can always be synced up to the existing Super footage.

Its interesting this dub may be seen in Africa and possibly English-speaking European countries. If true we may see the dub stick around for a while.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

If it airs in Africa, I know a guy who might be able to record it. Not sure though.

Well luckily, we will be providing a video capture card so it will be the best quality we can get. Unfortunately, it's only offered in SD there, but again, way better than nothing.

We're hoping to have everything set up before the 21st, fingers crossed.

Not much to go on as to who is voicing Beerus. Sounds good enough, but I've really gotta hear more to come a more decisive opinion.

Sabat and Rager firing shots at the Bang Zoom dub tonight over on Twitter.

Not sure how to feel about this. We know it was an unfortunate situation where FUNi's version can't come to Europe, courtesy of Lex Lang, but do they really need to go this far? I don't recall them ever doing the same with the Ocean dub of Z (Post Frieza) or the Blue Water dub of GT.

I think it just stems from the fact that the Bang Zoom dub was previewed before Funimation's and freaked a lot of people out for a short while thinking that Funimation somehow didn't get the liscense

Petty behaviour. There have always been multiple English dubs for this franchise and these guys aren't the first. Also, I'm pretty sure the original Japanese version is "as it was meant to sound".

It's a shame people glorify it, then again, that's nostalgia for you.

Honestly though, if you've worked hard on an English dub for nearly 20 years, you'd be a little ticked off that some other studio also gets to dub a brand new series when that studio has never dubbed any of the prior series'

What? Why? Even Mr Lang said this dub was an unfortunate accident, Funi dont have the right to be jerks. The Ocean cast didnt say anything when Vision of Escaflowne was redubbed by Funi. Everyone in this dub loves Funimation and their cast and this is how they repay them. And you are fine with this?

This is REALLY messed up. I dont like their attitude.

Also it was SABAT, not Schemmel.

Yeah, I'm not understanding the justification for those statements either. Bang Zoom, to my understanding, intruded no one's territory. I thought they were marketing their interpretation to the Asian market. How does that hurt North America's Dragon Ball? By all means, we're technically not allowed to see it anyway. Whether they worked on Dragon Ball before or not ultimately doesn't matter: The standard actors still have their project for their intended audience.

It actually makes me wonder, why they create another English dub? I'm not against it, and I'm curious to hear it, it just...I'm sure it will create yet another dub war. If actors really tweet that, then I'm sorry, but it is really immature, show them you are better by creating better product, not low yourself to insults and trigger crazy fans.

Listen, I don't agree with their actions but I can see why it happened. Also, please don't blame it on FUNi. Two actors from there saying it doesn't mean that it's what the whole company thinks

Wow, that was immature from Sabat and Rager. Did they really have to do that?

Okay. I was just saying Funi for sake of ease. I dont blame the entire company for this mess.
I know they are cool.
