Sadly, no. Tenshinhan isn't in the game. Or a whole lot of fan favourites.Drunken Master wrote:Question. Is Tenshinhan in this game?
It's sad that Bandai Namco used up their home-port extra characters on different versions of Vegeta, Gohan and Freeza when they could have thrown in Goten, Tenshinhan or Yamcha for the fans.
But the gameplay quality and Mystic Gohan's awesome sword attacks make up for that.

I finally got my copy today and played it for 30 minutes.
Hmmm... I like it.... it's not perfect, but once you get the mechanics down, it's kinda fun. Although it has a bit of a steep learning curve like Sparking did on the first try.
My gripe with the game is the 3d environement. I would have preferred it more like the Naruto Clash of Ninja games where it's 2d, but you can sidestep. Since this game was done by the producer of Street Fighter, I was expecting "up" to jump and holding back to block.
I have to admit it wasn't everything I expected, but it's fun and a nice change of pace from the recent DBZ games. It should hold me over until Sparking Neo comes out.

Sparking was easy to pick up and play in the sense that yes, you could pick it up and do moves and stuff right away, but the computer would totally own your ass for a while because you would suck at it so much.

Personally, I'm lacking some Goten. He's the second son of Goku, fer cryin' out loud. I'd love to see what creativity this type of game can do for a character like him, who was never given very many moves of his own in the series. (God, was I happy when they finally gave him that "Charge!" movie in Budokai 3.)The Tori-bot wrote:It's sad that Bandai Namco used up their home-port extra characters on different versions of Vegeta, Gohan and Freeza when they could have thrown in Goten, Tenshinhan or Yamcha for the fans.
But forget about Goten; even Gotenks never showed up as a hidden character! Considering that the home version opted to include Majin Buu and Adult Gohan, I'm surprised as hell that Gotenks didn't find his way onto the roster, given his popularity. But hey, neither did Vegetto.
Just you just watch, though. Super DBZ 2 (practically a shoe-in, given the sales) won't even be allowed to exist without adding in at least a few extra characters and transformations. It's like when Budokai 1 only went as far as the Cell Games arc; ya just knew there was gonna be a Budokai 2 right behind it to exapnd upon the elements the first game failed to utilize.
However, I'm sure they're going to be very careful not to add too many, lest they lose the sharp distinctions between the fighters.

Goten? I can see why he isn't in it, but Tenshinhan? He was there before Piccolo. He BEAT Goku once and nearly again. He was always one of the strongest in the early days. He has tons of techniques, and would have been perfect for this game. *sigh*

Kidding . . . or am I?! Anyway, maybe Tenshinhan's omission has something to do with the "Z" element. His most awesome days were in the original Dragonball, and he seemed to factor in less and less as Dragonball Z unfolded.
Hmm. But then again, I suppse the same can be said for Chi-Chi, and she's in it. So what the hell?
During the Tenkaichi Budokai of the Piccolo Jr. saga, when Tenshinhan and Goku have their rematch. He showed up with even more techniques than the first time. (Do I have that right, Drunken Master? You're the one with the Tenshinhan avatar.)Rocketman wrote:Nearly again? When was that?

Yeah, I say Tenshinhan could have beaten Goku again because of his secret weapon. When he splits and hits Goku with all four eye-beams Goku gets hit hard and falls stunned in pain. (right there was a good chance to finish him, but Ten was too cocky because he thought he had this battle in the bag).
Other than that, Tenshinhan says next time he'll use maximum power. If he used max power the first time before Goku found the weaknesses, then there's a good chance Tenshinhan would have won. Of course AT wouldn't allow that to happen, but I'm only using what he gave us.

I'm not sure about that, considering the kind of hits Goku took when fighting Piccolo. Stunned and slightly hurt, maybe. But I doubt Tien could've pulled off a victory there.Yeah, I say Tenshinhan could have beaten Goku again because of his secret weapon. Same can be said for Videl. Let's be realistic. Sex sells.Rocketman wrote:Tits.Li'l Lemmy wrote:Hmm. But then again, I suppse the same can be said for Chi-Chi, and she's in it. So what the hell?![]()
But seriously though, if you're going to include two Dragonball characters, then why not Ten?
Gotenks was mentioned aswell. Don't go and put in four Buu saga characters without including Gotenks(who's in every DragonBall Z game to extend into the Buu saga) or Vegito.

Well, there's a difference kinda. Goku was fighting to survive against Piccolo, while fighting to win the match against Tenshinhan. It's like what he says against Tenshinhan at the 22nd tournament. He has two levels of fighting. Tournament level power, and battle level power when people are trying to kill him.Rocketman wrote:Tits.Li'l Lemmy wrote:Hmm. Huh, really? I didn't think there was anything particularly sexy done to the female characters. I thought they were there because females were needed in the roster for some balance. I dunno about you guys but I like that they added Chi-Chi because visually she's different from the rest (uses the nyoibo, gets on the Kintou'n to fly, and doesn't shoot ki blasts...)Mike D wrote:Same can be said for Videl. #18 is a cyborg enhanced almost entirely with biological components. The extremely few mechanical components are mostly for the "shut down" function utilized by Dr. Gero to keep her under control.Rocketman wrote:Bulma's not a fighter by any stretch of the word, nobody knows who Lunch is (even Mr. Toriyama) and 18's mechanical.DB_Fan wrote:Really?
