1: The movie to be chosen.
2: The footage to be 100% confirmed (which I guess has already been done).
3: An all new thread started by Kaboom for the auditions.

We may need a third person in this group to both provide a final opinion on the voices and to keep a fair judgment of our own VA auditions, though (since you and I have both mentioned we also want to voice-act in this). And know that I'm going to be very picky about which voices to go with, or at least as picky as I can afford to be--not only with what voices end up sounding good for the characters, but with how well a job the auditioners actually do ACTING. (The better they sound at acting in the audition, hopefully the better they'll sound once they're actually voicing the roles, I mean... >__>; )

Well, what I meant with that is, we're probably not going to be able to direct the VAs simultaneously as they're recording. I mean, they record something, they send it to us, we analyze it and provide feedback, they'll probably have to re-record it afterwards depending on said feedback... it'll take quite a bit longer than an actual recording session, you know? And unless we can figure out a way to converse with them as they're recording via something like webcam/I'm without actually affecting the recording, I'm not sure it would work to do it that way... but hopefully we'll figure something out, right? ^^;

Well, my hope at the moment is that someone who has a DragonBox and knows enough technical stuff to rip the selected movie well (Please, Mike! This makes me wish Mr. LaBrie would volunteer to help us out with this. I've seen one of his latest music videos and the quality of the footage and sound is practially PERFECT! But I'm not sure he'll be willing to help us out with the video-editing for this project... he might be too busy for as well as uninterested in it... ;___;

Well, YIM has a "Conference" feature, and I'm pretty sure most other I'm programs have some form of it. So long as the auditioners are capable of downloading and using the programs (YIM is free, of course), it should be pretty easy to set a conference up with someone for "callbacks." Heck, if we suggest something, they could probably re-record something right then and there, share it, and say "Like this, you mean?"

Hmm. Should I start a separate thread to get the names of who exactly wants to be in the project? I've got most of the names and some of the emails for them, but I'm still lacking a lot of information needed for said list... o_o; Although, to post a new thread this early on would probably be a bit redundant, so maybe I should wait a few more days before doing so. >_>

Oh, wait! I know! If we can convince Mike to, maybe we can get him to make an announcement on the podcast for this! You know, to get the attention of everyone who's interested in it so they can provide the needed information? Hmm... depends on whether Rick's interested in helping decide the voice actors. But if he wants to, then that's taken care of. What are your thoughts, Rick?

Another idea, as well, is to ask other people not on the forum (say, IRL, if we know anyone who's interested in the series or in voice-acting) for outside opinions on the auditions we get. That way (if said people can deal with us being DBZ dorks), we can get extra (and in our cases, maybe more accurate) feedback on what auditions sound best. I know I'm probably gonna ask my sister for a bit of help there. ^^;

Yes! Pickiness is needed. If we're gonna do this, we've gotta do it well! RALLY TIME! xD

Well, if you want to do conferencing, we could also use Skype; I find that a pretty good chat program to hold audio chats with. For some strange reason, my YIM and AIM have problems with holding audio chats... though, I've only tried audio-chatting with one person, so it might have just been a problem with the different settings we had on both programs or something... I can try again to see if it actually works well with someone else on the other end... >_>; It's free for download and easy to find on Google. The only downside I can think of about it is that I'm not sure if very many people here use it, so that could pose a problem (and, oh, never put your status on "Skype Me"! Horrors shall ensue if you do! I'm not kidding! DDD: ).

If you have Skype already or think it a good idea to use, my username is KinoFourpaws should you need to contact me on it (wow, how original of me... >_>; ).

Hmm. I do have a bunch of college work to finish before the end of next week (disadvantage to having earlier breaks! D: ), but once that gets done, I'll be able to participate a bit more. So, maybe not second-in-command (as I'm sure you'll be needing someone who can donate a lot of time to this in the next few weeks or so), but maybe third-in-command? I dunno, it depends on how much time I can manage to spare right now.

Don't know what 'stage' this is at, but I can do some decent voice acting. Here's my most recent demo reel (not a lot of anime-related stuff on it, sorry >>;). I can try for just about any of the male character parts if you so desire.

Considering our auditions will be basically equivalent to what we'd see in screen-tests for movies, is it alright if we record them with our own lines of dialogue in accurate context to what was in the Japanese version? I mean it may take a while to write the script and such. And for the record, I've already started editing my audition together even though I don't get a mic till Sunday (tomorrow). Here is who I'm officially auditioning for:

Hi, I would definetly be interested in auditioning for a role. But I have some questions...

What do I need to do to enter myself?

When will I need to record a clip of myself?

Can I choose who I audition for or can I just audition in say my natural voice I possibly get put with a character at random?

Just pretty much let us know you're interested is all; you've already given me your contact information, so that part's taken care of. There's been some talk as to when auditions will be held, but right now we're trying to figure out who's gonna be working on what part of the process (writing, video editing, etc.), so we're trying not to get too far ahead of ourselves by going right into the auditioning. Kaboom's set a tentative date for Sunday or Monday, though, so you can practice recording and such until then.

As for what to audition with... I don't know; it seems like it could be an open book to me, unless Kaboom comes up with script samples for people to try. You can go ahead and audition for as many characters as you think you can do, though.

I'll be sending out an email to everybody on the list when we're holding the auditions, so don't worry about it too much.

...Okay, here's how the auditions are probably gonna go down...

The Movie Voting thread...

...by the way, I just noticed last night that we have the option to make a poll when starting a thread now! When did that happen?! I don't think it was there the other day, otherwise I'd have used a poll to conduct the voting... ah, well.

...anyway, the Voting closes in about an hour and a half, so get over there and vote if by some chance you haven't already.

Once the voting's over, and the movie choice is official, I'll put up a list of the main characters in the movie. I believe one may have already been posted (Who are we kidding? Movie 3's practically already won...). This way, you can decide for sure which character you want to audition for, and begin seriously practicing.

While I'm out later today, I plan to pick up a copy of the selected movie. I'll watch it, then put together and post some specific script samples, like Kino said earlier, from each auditionable character sometime Sunday afternoon.

Whoever's auditioning should specifically practice these for a while, since it's what they'll be posting on the Audition Thread when I make it sometime Monday morning. The Auditions will remain open for at least a week, probably two, which gives you plenty of time to practice and perfect your line and get it posted.

After a week or two, auditions will close. Kino, Myself, and probably Rick will go through the sure to be vast amounts of auditions and decide who to contact via PM for callbacks. Callbacks will most likely be conducted through Conference sessions on YIM, Skype, or some similar, file-sharing, free-to-download I'm program. That way the three of us can talk to to you about the part while actually sharing and listening to your audition, and you can even re-record something and share it on the spot. We'll have to schedule some time for it, but it shouldn't be too hard to do. You get the idea, right?

Hopefully, while all this is going down, we'll manage to fill the last position of Video Editor(s) (Someone who's qualified! Please!), and we'll get some other things done like having capsuleman rip the footage for us, writing up a script, gathering Sound Effects, Background Music, etc... in order to be able to start compiling things.

...This is probably getting too far ahead, but after about a week of callbacks, we should be able to confer and decide on major roles, and post a cast list just in time for Christmas. We'll have to see how we set up recordings after that. Odds are, we'll just post the script once it's completed, and it'll be up to VAs to go through it and record their lines with input from us. We'll see.

Okay, I'm trying to get things a little organized, here. I want everyone who has volunteered, or wants to volunteer now, for one of those Key Positions, EXCLUDING VOICE ACTING, to simply respond with a short, simple post saying what they volunteered for. Go!

Update!

The voting is over, and Movie 3 is the winner. I'll pick up a copy of the movie while I'm out today, and have a complete character list put up sometime tomorrow afternoon. Though you probably won't need me for that. So, decide who you want to audition for, and get practicing! Barring any unforseen consequences, the audition thread and script samples will be up on Monday!

Now I have to leave for work, so tootle-oo!
