Yeah, I rather find that "OceanDubZ" user quite obnoxious, I always see him going around youtube flaming people's opinions if they prefer FUNi over Ocean in the comments of FUNi youtube videos, not to mention he always disables his current videos' comments considering he despises criticism of the Ocean Dub.JulieYBM wrote:Not if those fearsome Ocean fans have their say, They're spamming Levlik's video, it seems.kei17 wrote:4:3 fottage, English audio with original musics, Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku in English...
It seems that the Blue Water dub finally lost its post
It's annoying when you see someone jump in, be a bothersome person but defend himself from the same things he is doing to others. >_>

I swear Funimation is one weird ASS company. Would it kill them to just do right by Dragon Ball Z? Is the series really just cursed to forever be screwed over! Dub "Cha La Head Cha La" please!
(It's cool that they did this for GT. With the dubbed OP/ED's and the original music I'm sure it'll be much more enjoyable now.)
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Truthfully this was done because I think it was obvious that midway into releasing the Z sets, FUNimation realized the things that people were pissed about, hence why they no longer advertise the widescreen "Feature" on any of them anymore. However, not wanting to look even worse by pulling another Ultimate Uncut Edition, not to mention that the orange brick sets are making ASSLOADS of moolah, they're continuing to follow up with these.
As far as the other two series go, Dragonball was handled well I think because Chris Bevins and Mike McFarland had big hands in it. Anything they work on usually ends up being taken care of very well. As far as GT goes, Bevins joined on that as well, but when I asked him what the deal was with the GT Rap opening, he said that someone else was in charge of production when they first started the show who thought it was a "good idea" and they had to stick with it. My guess? Barry Watson.
Now that those days're over and that everyone's looked around and realized some of the things done with the Z sets weren't such a good idea to their customers, they must be trying to make up for it by, for the most part, doing the movies, GT and (presumabely when they're able to down the line) the original Dragonball correctly.
...whiiich also means that Mike's joke a while ago about the cigar-crunching guy going "THIS WILL BE THE SUPER MEGA FINAL ULTIMATE UNCUT VERSION" may come to pass, in a way. I'd imagine, probably a WHILE from now, FUNi will do this one more time with all of Z, done in the same "correct" way as the GT and Movie sets, odds are, in BlueRay so that it'll give them another marketting scheme for the fact that they'd be doing this again. This part is just a theory, though.

1) No next episode previews at all. Only on the single DVDs.coola wrote:Two questions:
1}Did Episode previews were cut from both English and Japanese version?
2}How long old box sets will be in stock?
2) As long as FUNi wants them in stock...?
On another note, I've uploaded dub DAN DAN and You Are Note Alone with Dragon Box footage. Both are in visual HQ. In the process of working on Don't You See and a mix of original instrumental DAN DAN with the dub for the second animation opening.

You are right. It's so silly to fight with fans of other dubs.. All dubs are the same pieces of crap compared to the original Japanese version. And the guy, Ocean Dub Z... He is such a zealot, but I have to thank him for uploading the Ocean dub pieces. I'm a dub collector and there's no way to get the Ocean episodes in Japan because they've been never released on any media yet..Captain-Sora wrote:Finding an Ocean dub PURIST is a bit rare but they certainly do exist and can be pain in the ass at times. Sigh, why can't all fans just get along? Oh well, who cares, it's funny to watch crap unfold during the battle between dub fans.
Sorry, it's kinda out of topic
Oh they should've handled Z as well... If they had, I would've imported all the sets.Kirbopher wrote:As far as the other two series go, Dragonball was handled well I think because Chris Bevins and Mike McFarland had big hands in it. I see hope in the upcoming Blu-ray(maybe blur-ray) Boxses.

I'm wondering if GT box set is going to be discussed in the next podcast at all? Will there be a review for this item?

That might be nice to see, actually, considering the changes. Since a lot of people seem to think this is the perfect GT release, I'm wondering what the podcast crew think of it.Chrono Trigger wrote:I'm wondering if GT box set is going to be discussed in the next podcast at all? The thing is, I own just about all of DBGT already from the original singles. Seeing as they... well... have "better quality" in a few areas, and seeing as how I have absolutely zero interest in watching the dub (regardless of whether or not it comes with the original Japanese score), I have almost no reason to pick this up.Super Ghost Kamikaze wrote:That might be nice to see, actually, considering the changes. I'm not really going to spend the money on it JUST to review it on the podcast. I'm not poor by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems like a really pointless purchase if all I'm going to do is review it for a podcast. At least with the first season of DBZ I was legally completing my North American released version of some episodes...
If someone wants to donate it, that's another matter, but my money can be better spent this holiday season going towards other things

I suppose a run-down of what you see as the pros and cons as related by the community would lack editorial integrity? =pVegettoEX wrote:The thing is, I own just about all of DBGT already from the original singles. Anyway, I think the English Dan Dan and the switch to 4:3 deserves at least a passing mention in the News section, as the former is definitely an unanticipated Funimation move and the latter likely has an effect on your opinion on the boxes as evidenced by the podcast episode eternally linked on the front page.

That's understandable. But...how many versions of the Dead Zone do you have again, Mike?VegettoEX wrote:I'm not poor by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems like a really pointless purchase if all I'm going to do is review it for a podcast.
