The Majin Buu saga, I guess, wasn't longer than 2-3 days in total, as many of its events occured in the period of Goku's one single day on Earth. So, we are more or less 6 or so months away from this film and we still hardly know anything, I like it.

The original Super Saiyan God, who it will surely end up being.
1. The character was already mentioned in the last movie. It was also brought up in DB Minus.
2. He's dead and being that he fought for his planet he most likely kept his body. That means he's someone that can be brought back whereas an evil person would have just been reincarnated.
3. The Z Fighters think he's a good guy which is why they'd revive him. It'd probably be because Goku wanted more knowledge about the power he obtained in the last movie.
4. He's a Saiyan so from an unstable lot as it is, so makes sense he'd turn evil and the wish would backfire on them hence the worst wish.
5. Who else could really match Goku at this point? Again it makes sense for a Saiyan who'd trained for hundreds of years in Otherworld and mastered the God power to be a formidable enemy.

Yeah; it's been stated by users the one-year limit is specific to wishes for a large number of revivals. That's right, once the time limit wore off he was killed but he could have always learned to bring out that power after years of training in other world.
