They are discussing going to a new planet which i would imagine is Planet Sadala of Universe 6. That is what I meant by the planet and I apologize for not making that clear.

I hope this movie isn't just the Saiyan Saga on ice. The Goku Black Saga was a mix between Buu Saga and Cell Saga lore with very little originality, and RoF is self explanatory. This is an opportunity to have a new and original story that isn't a tournament, so I hope it isn't filled with callbacks to DBZ.

They are discussing going to a new planet which i would imagine is Planet Sadala of Universe 6. That is what I meant by the planet and I apologize for not making that clear.

They never said anything about GOING to a new planet. Only that there would be at least one. And that could just be Planet Sadala of Universe 7 from a flashback.

Also, even if the new planet was U6 Sadala, how would Freeza even be able to get to U6 and terrorize them?

Dragon Ball + "multilayered" story... I'm curious about that, since DB is usually straightforward.
Toriyama's former editor also praised his writing in ROF, so I will keep my guard up...

I'm interested to see how this Movie about the Saiyans written by Toriyama will compare to Bardock TV Special, because I give a solid 10/10 to that one.

The fact that Toriyama drew over 20 sheets of designs that include characters, machines and at least one new planet, tells me he knows what he wants to do, at least.

A new wave of rectons is coming, but hopefully is entertaining.

I believe shortly after Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods released, there were interviews conducted with Yusuke Watanabe and Akira Toriyama.

In Toriyama's case, it was because he mistook "Birisu" for being a pun on "beer", and with Watanabe, the concept was apparently supposed to be a lizard-looking fella that infected people with evil and made the Saiyans evil in the first place; I'd appreciate it if folks with better research skills could verify these factoids.

The idea certainly would be an interesting one to bring back. I mean, a guy who made the Saiyans a bunch of assholes in the first place? Imagine if THAT were the reason why the tails were preserved in Universe 7 Saiyans; it represented their ruthlessness as they maintained their connections to their animalistic roots as Great Apes.

I'd like a link to this interview please, not that i dont believe you but it sounds like there'd be a lot of other stuff in there that'd be interesting to read

Maybe this idea will be used for the movie. Maybe, the character we see in the teaser is Yamoshi but the main villain has the powers from the original concept of Beerus (the power to infect saiyans with evil intentions) and used them to turn Yamoshi evil.

"Retcon" = "Retroactive Continuity." If they work, or at least don't muddie up previous stuff, great. If they screw up previously established things, then damn. We'll see. There's only the details Vegeta gave about the Super Saiyan legend & what was in the Bardock Special (I hope Toriyama just forgets the retconned Bardock special chapter from the end of Jaco. That was terrible), so they have a lot to play with.

I still presume at this point the villain will be someone the acient Saiyans (Yamoshi?) rebelled against. That's the most relevant way to go if they want to make a connection between past and present. That's the philisophy of the 'long awaited opponent'. It was the big villain in the past and now he somehow returns in the present.
