Man that sucks was really hoping they would ship it early that was a big reason why I pre-ordered it lol
I said maybe in my post. My cousin's friend ordered Film Z from RS and got it on Saturday. So maybe BoG will ship early, just not super early.

Quick question. I live in the UK and our release date of the movie on DVD is in November; but I don't want to wait that long. If I import from USA, will it not work on my DVD player? I could also play it on my PS3, or does it not work on that either?

I mean, the 7th is my birthday too ! ^^

Hey;

It won't work on your DVD player or PS3 unless you own a Multi Region DVD Player. There are ways of unlocking your DVD players too if you're desperate.

I'm from the UK too and I've already pre-ordered my Blu Ray Collectors Edition. It's a month extra wait, but it will be worth it!

Just watched it. Some line changes were somewhat weird. For example Bulma's "Yes Sir" line at he end is changed to "Sure does". A minor thing I know but it was said in English in the Japanese dub. Don't know why there was a need to change that.

Oh really? That's a bummer, would have been a nice present to myself ^^ Nahh, I'm not that desperate; not really familiar with stuff like that. I guess I'll just preorder and wait it out too. Something to look forward to I guess!

Where did you order yours from btw, Amazon?

Actually I just ordered from the Manga UK website. Made my order literally the day pre-orders went up!

Makes no difference though, you'll probably find it cheaper on Amazon.

RS doesn't have it in their warehouse yet. So, I don't think anyone will get it early.

I know box retailers don't tend to get stuff in early unless it's a three-day weekend. Most arrive on Monday. I'd guess warehouses have better luck w/early shipments. I took free shipping on Amazon and they said earliest was the 14th. Funi may have underestimated demand.
On hiatus.

So, I am a bit surprised that Rightstuf have not shipped early.

I don't mind if I don't get this shipped early but I really want mine on the day of release. Looks like I'll have to buy one from best buy or something... :? And then return the late package from Rightstuf.

The thing is, RightStuf doesn't always ship things early. They just seem to about eight times out of ten, and this seems to be one of those unfortunate other two times. It could be worse too - they're seemingly have one hell of a time getting the last item of a previous order of mine, I'm still waiting on it and the order went in on July 1st this year. ^_^;

Why bother getting the US release? The UK DVD costs £12.99 and the Blu-ray Collector's Edition is £17.99 so there's really no reason to get the US unless FUNimation made a Special Edition which they haven't (or ain't announced yet).

I like how you completely ignored his stated reason for wanting to import it.

Donie, the DVDs come up as locked to region 1 when I check them in my drives. You would need a region free player, or software on your PC that deals with that issue to be able to play the movies if you import them, because your average DVD player sold in the UK will not play region 1 disks.

She'd be ~7. Born in AGE 771 and the movie takes place in AGE 778.
Right, my bad. I completely forgot the 4 year timeskip after the Buu Saga. Nobody looks older so it just slipped my mind. Thanks for the reminder! :)

Oh yeah I did but well, you also have to also consider that items with value £15+ may have a custom fee added to it so it wouldn't be ideal.

United Publications UK has the US DVD for £17 (via UP the custom fees are fully paid already) - https://www.up1.co.uk/Details/D1993-Dra ... +Hyb+Uncut

If he waits he'll be able to get the UK BD CE of BoG.

The final art for Mad Man's release of Battle of Gods was shown on their website.
http://www.madman.com.au/catalogue/view ... ion-bluray
Doesn't look all too different from the previous art, the only actual difference is the Extended Edition text at the top. It would have been nice if there was a slip cover but what are you going to do. Mad Man also got rid of the slip covers for the DBZ Blu-Ray releases.

New Zealand release date is December 4th, by the way.

And like Australia, Hoyts Cinemas down here have also scheduled more screenings of BOG. Unfortunately, none of them are in my city. Wellington hasn't had a Hoyts for some time now.

Something I noticed after watching it is that Chris Sabat's projection of Vegeta seems really different to me. Hes using his Kai voice but I cant get over why hes literally shouting ALL of his lines as Vegeta,in a really exaggerated way it kinda feels like a self-parody when he does that. Vegeta never used to shout every word he ever said.... Z-Piccolo maybe.

His shenron also seemed to lack the audio effect used to deepen his voice from the Z dub. I don't know if they lightened it to sound natural in their idea but... Shenron almost sounds too much like King Vegeta and not like Shenron. Smh.

You can also tell they were trying to stay word for word with the diallogue for multiple reasons in both positive and negative outcomes. Goku seemed to always have a mouthful of dialogue that sometimes outstretched over his mouth flap's limit. So Goku seemed to speak faster than usual. Then theres the awkward "I will not let you destroy my world" line which is indeed not sped up but what he actually said. He had to squeeze into 3 seconds of speaking time. Normally they would have condensed the dialogue to fit the flaps in order to give a more natural read but... I guess that was to please the nitpickers. I didnt like it. Its different when you're reading subs because they translate to you at your own thought pace but as actual lines, they just get awkward as hell. Though the majority of the film was fine.

I would have given Mai a different voice that actually fit her but, I don't care about Mai.
Trunk's voice was also less raspy and sounded more feminine then usual in the movie but whether thats a problem is up in the air.

Wished #18 had more lines to atleast let us see if McCoy improved.

Just minor gripes.
Zephyr wrote:The fandom's collective fetishizing of "moments" is also ridiculous to me. No, not everyone needs a fucking "shine" moment. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Goku saying he respects Vegeta a lot for throwing his pride away in the dub makes much more sense then him saying a little like the Japanese.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
