Pretty sure reusing SSGod was Toyo's idea and Toriyama just went with it lol. I do think UI was Toriyama's idea though, since moving without thinking concept has been around since RoF, and they did say Tori's responsible for it's name toosuperfan2024 wrote:I'm guessing that Toei wants a new transformation every arc for money, video games, merchandise, and etc, but Toriyama originally intended for Goku to just use SSJG and SSJB against Hit. Lot of assumption in this post. If Super Saiyan God was in Toriyama’s outline, the anime would have used it.superfan2024 wrote:I'm guessing that Toei wants a new transformation every arc for money, video games, merchandise, and etc, but Toriyama originally intended for Goku to just use SSJG and SSJB against Hit. Not sure why fans keep pushing the manga is closer to the outline with no evident.

So then you tell me why the anime had Kaioken, and the manga had SSJG?HeroR wrote:Lot of assumption in this post. Toriyama clearly works closer to the manga than he does with the anime, so of course i'm gonna assume that the manga is the more closer one to the outline.

That's not a good reason to say the manga is closed to the outline.Namz wrote:

Actually I think the anime is more close to the outlines than the manga. Episodes in a foreign planet fighting a goo enemy? A whole episode dedicated to waste Shenron time with everyone wanting to make a wish? A baseball episode? Arale's return? The Great Saiyaman starring a movie? That's pure Toriyama!

..And he made us aware of that by literally writing that he is guessing, while you on the other hand just so happen to omit writing, that you are merely guessing too, when you state that Toei would put it in the show, if it was in the outline.HeroR wrote:Lot of assumption in this post.superfan2024 wrote:I'm guessing that Toei wants a new transformation every arc for money, video games, merchandise, and etc, but Toriyama originally intended for Goku to just use SSJG and SSJB against Hit. Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Full chapter is now out on Viz website legally. I really enjoyed this one. A great alternative opening. Seems the gods are more or less on par with one another. Sometimes one looks stronger than the rest in a moment, and vice versa. First Beerus, then Belmond, then Liquiir, the Rummosh, etc. Though really Beerus, Belmond, Liquiir, and Rummosh stood out most impressing the others. Though we saw the robot one holding Liquiir and Shooting Helles. It's really hard to see how they rank among the others despite being close to one another. A lot of cases can be made.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Chapter 29
This chapter was really good! Props to Toyotaro. He really nailed the atmosphere, and I liked how Toppo is also able to use God Ki, he's the first one apart from Goku, Vegeta and the Gods to do such a thing, and it absolutely makes sense considering how he's being trained to become an Hakaishin.
Goku showing his various forms just to entertain Zeno goes to show how this tournament is being held just to please Zeno. With the prize being staying alive.
The Hakaishin fight was also quite good - I believe this just goes to show that probably all these Gods of Destruction will stay erased at the end of the tournament, just for the fact Beerus is top tier and Zeno being quite adamant on his decision to destroy the universes. Toppo is very different in Toyotaro's version, and I appreciated how his battle with Goku didn't feel "forced" like in the anime, it was a true exhibition match and Toppo didn't just burst onto the scenes cloaked like in the anime. Well, Toppo is really a different character in the anime.
Overall, I would say Toyotaro's take on this arc is better than the anime so far, although Goku's arrogant speech to all the Gods in the anime was quite awesome, and there are other elements the anime has done better in my opinion.
As always, I just wished the anime staff and Toyotaro could work together on expanding Toriyama's outline, so that they could be the exact same story and not the same plot points reached in different ways. It would be much better this way, but obviously that's not going to happen because it seems like they want both products to be different.
I also hope Toyotaro won't drop the ball again this arc, because his Future Trunks arc first chapters also had me saying the exact same things (that the anime and manga would benefit working together, that some elements from Toyotaro were better etc...).

So Toppo is using god ki as well.
I hope in the anime other characters bar Goku/Vegeta will start using it

Pretty sure Toppo and Jiren were using it in the anime. When they arrived in the ToP, Cabba, Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan freaked out, while Caulifla didn't notice anythingKishido wrote:So Toppo is using god ki as well.

Goku's confidence is a fine line to walk, and for me Toyotaro didn't manage it this chapter. Mostly in how, bizarrely, he wasn't taking Toppo seriously; disrespecting him with condescension even. In the anime Goku displayed pure confidence, but that's the thing: Goku was completely sure of himself, but from the start he gave Toppo the respect as a fighter he knew he deserved. You can be confident in your abilities while simultaneously give proper respect for your opponent's. At least he got Goku's attitude when losing right, though.
"What's going on? My transformations are useless."
"Toppo's cool."
"He's strong even without transforming."
More hamfisted foreshadowing?

Just like Trunks, experiencing it seems to help you being able to sense it later with training. It's like you guys like being immediate dismissive smart asses for no reason.

Full chapter is out and i must say, i enjoyed the exhibition match much more here than in the anime.
Now next week, we will get to see how much of the recruitment arc was well padding and how much was actually well important.
I honestly expect to see one chapter and everyone else gets stuff off screen.

Vegeta and Goku has to learn sensing it and all others just learn by seeing it?OLKv3 wrote:Cabba saw God Ki first hand with Vegeta. Further more Jiren was sensed by everyone so all of them have god ki now?
So you are stretching this. God ki and god ki sensing was always a big deal and potrayed like for example as Goku went SSB in the pre tournament.
Toppo lacks this statement in the anime and same goes for everyone else bar Vegeta and Goku

The manga chapter was good. It gave a bit of personality to each God of destruction, espicially Quietella(I don't know).
The fight between Toppo and Goku was good, but I'm not sure if I liked it as much as the anime since Toppo has a bit more personality in the anime(even though his arguably very annoying).
