They're all recycled tbh. I don't see them as homages because every fan fiction artist does the same thing. It's lack of creativity for the fights. The only true homage imo was when he had Vegeta pretend he was going to kill Cabba. The gr wrote:I see,i wouldn't call ssg one a homage rather a recycled poseOLKv3 wrote: Toppo's kick on Goku was Vegeta kicking Cell

They are introducing new concept and you are kinda exagerating with the whole bannamekiansaiyan wrote:Anyone working on Dragon Ball now should ban themselves from having any throwbacks.
I just find it weird that they don't want to make anything new that would be remembered.

Modern DB as a whole is full of throwbacks, weather it's small things like fighting moves or outright plot points like a female Broly. they do them because they're safe and know people like and recognize them.namekiansaiyan wrote:Anyone working on Dragon Ball now should ban themselves from having any throwbacks.

Both the manga and the anime suffer from lack of inspiration and/or fear to try new things. I'm betting on fear of trying new things, coupled with pressure to repeat the successful formula.
It's one of the main things holding back Super, I'm glad Mr.Toriyama is pushing Toyotarõ and hopefully the anime staff to try new things.

Both the manga and anime do new things. Just with the newer characters and not the older cast.LightBing wrote:Both the manga and the anime suffer from lack of inspiration and/or fear to try new things. I'm betting on fear of trying new things, coupled with pressure to repeat the successful formula.

That's the bad thing in Dragon Ball.HeroR wrote: Both the manga and anime do new things. Just with the newer characters and not the older cast.
They create a lot of characters full of potential only for their own sagas and then they either get killed or turn into a good guy and go to the bench a few seasons later. Hope Toei doesn't repeat this with the Universe 6 characters. I'm sure Toyotaro will though, the manga has been pretty rushed.
Guardian of the city, I am the one and only...Great Saiyaman!
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
What does rush have to shafting character and the manga stop doing that a long time ago, they use hit and u6 in the Top and by looking at the threatment of kale and caulifla, they won't be shaftedGreatSaiyaman123 wrote:That's the bad thing in Dragon Ball.HeroR wrote: Both the manga and anime do new things. They do new things sometimes not necessarily because of old or new characters; with Cabba they repeated his plot point of the U6 Arc.HeroR wrote:Both the manga and anime do new things. I'm talking about not repeating ideas from the original material, like Frost having the same poses as Freeza, "shocking" people with Goku losing while using Kaioken x20", bringing back the Kaioken, bringing back Vegetto, etc...
Both mediums are full of this. The manga more with copying poses and fight sections, the anime more with plot points.

Why is people being shocked the Kaioken failed be a ‘repeat’. Are you saying that shouldn’t be shock? The Kaioken itself isn’t even a repeat because Goku is using it in a way that was impossible before.

Like the recent episode was just a redraw of Goku using SS3 in the Janemba movie. Both anime and manga rely way too much on older scenes/poses

Man, Black sounds even more pathetic in the outline than he does in Toyotaro's version. I have a feeling he would have been more generic too.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
It's an exact copy of Goku using the Kaioken x20 against Freeza. Tenshinhan goes don't worry Goku still can go x20, Kaio says he's already using and everyone goes "oh no"! Like they didn't even bother to change it a bit. That's why I had shocked in parenthesis, it's like building up a mystery that you already solved.HeroR wrote:Why is people being shocked the Kaioken failed be a ‘repeat’. Hell, the whole Jiren fight is similar to the fight against Freeza until Goku lost. Failed Genki-Dama, Goku being outmatched even with Kaioken and him getting a new transformation.
Bringing back the Kaioken is reusing old ideas, Mr.Toriyama didn't use it after SSJ was introduced. I argue that by itself should be a reason in-universe why the form couldn't be stacked with anything, no matter what the any makes up to justify it. To me it's just forcing it in because they want to use it, of course that's just my opinion.
Anyway this has turned into a anime discussion, wrong topic for it.

Also, it really isn't outside the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb. Goku was a good match against Freeza until he went 50%, then he got stomped. With Jiren, Goku was outmatched from the ump. The Spirit Bomb failed to kill Freeza, but Freeza was overwhelmed by it and he thought he would die. Jiren pushed the entire thing back with ease and nearly killed Goku with it.

You're ridiculous. It doesn't "call out" the potara time limit lad. It's just an attempt at an explanation for why we didn't know about the time limit until now. Ahh so they're kind of retconning the 4 kais as being students of the Grand Supreme Kai now? That's cool I like that idea and a great way to try and explain why there was four of them. (On second thought did the Manga even have the 4 Supereme Kais or was that only the anime?)
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
That's cool when you think of it, just like how King Kai has Bubbles his pet monkey, so every Kai has there own little pet. Sometimes these extra pages are my absolute favourite thing from the manga.Chuquita wrote:Zamasu had a pet pig?! With wings?! How "When pigs fly!".
