From what I've seen, Toei movies based on kids franchises are usually about 90 minutes at most. Sometimes you'll get an extended version on home video, which profits on the ability to make people double-dip.

A significantly longer runtime probably wouldn't increase ticket or home video sales enough to justify the increased production costs. Like, a three hour movie would cost twice as much to make as a 90 minute movie, but it's unlikely twice as many people will want to see it.

I think 1 hour 33 minutes is a pretty good amount of animation for a Dragon Ball movie. If the fight between Gokû verus Beerus lasts 20 mins in Battle of Gods, the new film is going to keep you quite entertained.

A cliffhanger would be unprecedented in an awesome way, imo.
Also, Part 2 could get Shida and Tate. :3 (in my dreams, both. I'd be content with settling for one of the two.)

I think if a run time is too long then the movie is going to drag really bad. I don't under why people want a three hour DBZ movie? Some fans seem to want a movie with two hours of straight up fighting and one hour of plot. I think seeing the characters fight for two hours non stop would get boring really fast.

Battle of Gods uncut is 105 minutes, therefore if F gets in all likelihood gets an extended edition it should be around 120-125 minutes long.

No, it's just that a really long DB movie would have time for various sub-plots to develop and a more complex main story with a lot more thought and detail put into it, rather than a very simple, straight to the point story.

I'd like one that was as long as Strong World. (1 hour, 53 minutes).
F is 1 hour, 34 minutes.

I'd want that time to be split constructively between plot, character stuff, and battles though.

The battles battles battles gets boring for me unless it's animated/directed by someone with lots of skill.
This is part of why I'm hoping we get a cliffhanger that eventually leads into a 2nd half that will have those more skilled animators that either passed or were passed on for F.

There's nothing to indicate that an extended version of Fukkatsu no F will last for two hours.

You can still have a complex main story and various sub-plots in 90 minutes. Hell, Wrath Of The Dragon and History Of Trunks told damn good stories in less than half that time.

It's also worth remembering that we don't have any guarantee there will even be an extended version. Just because Battle of Gods got one doesn't make this a done deal. Is it possible? Yeah, probably even likely. And I really hope there is one. But just keep in mind that it may not happen at all.

From everything that I've seen up to yet it does look as though at least half of this movie is going to revolve around fighting.

The chapters that have been released have obviously cut some scenes out but the battle between the Z Fighters and Frieza's goons wasnt far off from starting at just the end of the second chapter. From that point it's probably going to be a long battle until the end between all the fodder and then Goku vs Frieza and then possibly Vegeta as well.

That's not including Goku and Vegeta fighting Whis before this too.

Hardly anything at all has been shown that doesn't revolve around fighting except for them reviving Frieza.

That could be a good thing if it means the movie is far more entertaining and action packed but then it might be lacking on story though the story was Battle of Gods weak point too so that's not really going to get any worse.

It might make it more popular with fans though.

I loved BOG's character stuff (all of Gokû's Gokûing, the way Vegeta and Bulma interacted) but story-wise, yeah, I was/still am a little burned out on "let's have a big party to get the cast together easily!" stuff, so I am glad that F seems to have everyone scattered.

There's still that Torishima stuff though; it's still in the back of my mind his comment from waaaaaay back in the summer. I want to know what impressed him.

Don't know if this is old or not, but Jaco's English voice has been found within the data of Xenoverse. So, we might be getting this in the dub.

Sounds a lot like Todd Haberkorn. Android 19 (DBZ Kai), Yun (Street Fighter 4), Baatar Jr. (Korra), Death the Kid (Soul Eater), and Ling Yao (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) just to name a few of his notable roles.

Looking forward to seeing Jaco, I hope he fits well in the DBZ universe.

It's definitely Todd Haberkorn, and if he doesn't end up playing the role in the film as well, I'll be surprised.

I'm still surprised that while I never would have pegged him as Jaco before, thinking on it now it's kinda perfect.

We're now at 925 pages, as is the Battle of Gods thread. Battle of Gods has been out for two years, and we still have not even gotten to the preview screening for Revival of F yet. That's crazy.

I bet we'll make it to 1000 by the end of the Monday, EST. :3
The BOG thread exploded 20 or 30 pages on pre-screening day (if I remember correctly).

Probably depends on how the details spread this time. If Julian comes back and spills a lot of the goods right away, it'll likely explode. But if we're just working off poorly translated things from various other Japanese sites while he relaxes and writes up a summary or whatever, it may be a bit slower until he drops his post.
