Additionally, on the subject of the censorship... y'know, I'd be more ok with a Saban-era kind of edit. Remember how they drew a flash to hide the fact that it went through Goku? If they wanted to present the wound as a burned bruise, I'd be more ok with just going the whole nine yards and obscuring the extent of the attack (not that I'm a fan of censorship to begin with). This just kinda smells like executive bullshit. You *see* the beam go right through Goku... and then he just has a minor-looking flesh wound. Which he somehow dies from.

Hey there. Wasted Wisher here again.

For the record, my position is...I too, am saddened by the bruise-switcheroo.
But, as you know by know, I have no power over such things. But if I
did...oh, well.

I figured they'd at least try to make the blasted torso area a solid black (to at least imply it was a hole), instead of the smoky-gray airbrush effect they gave it that blatantly showed it off as just a surface bruise.

Do you know of any more changes similar to that coming down the pipeline? Well, that you can tell us, at least?

Do you know if there's a possibility of getting "uncensored" version for dvd/blu-ray releases?

If they do Dragonball in this same fashion, they'll have a Hell of a time censoring all of the wee-wees from the beginning and all of the violence towards the end...

I hate to ask this again, but why exactly is everybody so up in arms over the censoring of a child's wenis?

I can slightly understand ranting about blood removal, and I can totally understand freaking out about replacing a giant gaping hole with a slight bruise, but raging over Goku's kiddieschlong being "splashed over"? Come on, people.

Last time I checked, normal people didn't want to see a child's twig and berries.

Honestly it doesn't bother me too much. It makes for good comparison shots, but I know it pisses off a lot of people, and that's who I was speaking for.

It's just the whole mentality that, it's an acceptable image that was hurting nobody and has been around for years. The censorship is what's frustrating, considering it's irrational and utterly pointless.

Not to say I'm all pissed off about it, I'm merely anti-censorship. Goku's penis, while inconsequential in-and-of itself (wow, hope no one ever talks about MY penis like that!), wasn't a problem in the first place and, in fact, gave personality to the scenes at the very least. Nudity in Japan is often symbolism for purity. It's just 'moral sensitivity' poisoning the the media.

I think it's funny how Toei has links to all of their other Dragonball sites on their Kai site, yet none of the other sites have links back to Kai. It kind of hints at them having completely abandoned all of the other series, which I hope isn't the case... just speculation of course.
