Beerus, Whis and Kabe's outfits are proof that modern Toriyama can still pull off original and interesting outfit designs so I don't know why he got so lazy with Goku Black (I do love the earring though).
I take that back. The outfit looked dope as hell in tonight's episode
Well this is the first time we're going to have the two Trunks together. If Future Trunks ends up staying in the main timeline from here on out and Kid Trunks does get older then it's a simple way of being able to tell the two apart.

It's a massive stretch to even speculate Future Trunks will now permanently stay in the franchise, and Goten/Trunks getting sized-up is even bigger stretch lol. You know they will keep them potato-size even if last Super episode takes place literally a day before EOZ

This quote from Trunks' VA about the new arc, especially with the later bit about "giving the game away" makes me think that we might get some physical maturation too, not only character development. Probably either through a small timeskip or RoSaT training.
Also, since kid Trunks is still just a boy, I thought it’d be good to also portray him as growing up bit by bit. Well, I guess I’ve given the game away (laughs).
Both are only a possibility but if Future Trunks is that popular that they've brought him back him into like this, would they really have him go back into his own timeline again at the end not to be seen again for who knows how many years?
Everyone is dead in his timeline, his moms dead, his girlfriend's dead, his world is in ruins. It seems like the best choice for him and for the fans is for Trunks to stay in the main timeline and become a recurring character.
They could easily explain why he has blue hair in the next episode.

Him going back is a given, they had that "trust in the past to come up with something" plot point regarding the one-way trip fuel. And even if he stayed, he'd still be somewhat a stranger in that timeline but even worse than the Cell arc because current Trunks isn't a baby and would be the "focus" of everyone rather than the future self. I want the Super Dragon Balls being used to restore his world and revive everyone, he deserves it.

As it stands right now I don't really see this not happening. Super Shenron should be able to revive everyone killed by Black, the androids and Cell in Future Trunks' timeline.
Why not have it happen? Future Trunks just lost his mom (and apparently his GF but I'm not buying that just yet), so he'll probably ask to have that wish granted when all is said and done at the end of the arc.

You know what? Using the Super D.B.s to restore F. Trunks' timeline to its former glory...that's actually a really good idea! Honestly, I can see that being the case! And like you've said, F. Trunks NEEDS a happy ending, ESPECIALLY a happy ending of THAT caliber after all the crud life's thrown at him and everyone he cares about.

Of course. They are spread across two universes, after all. They do have the Super Dragon Radar that Bulma constructed and access to Whis' travel cube, though, so in the end it's down to writing.

Nah I'd say Beerus or Whis would be more deserving. Then Freeza which he got, then maybe Cabba and Hit to endorse Super. And then maybe Gohan.
The joke isn't fine because it doesn't make sense. There are so many worse characters to pick. They'res a difference between making jokes that pick fun at the reality of a situation, and jokes that senselessly bash the character. I've seen you do the latter a lot. But yeah, to endorse super? Then yeah I agree. Piccolo would probably be a better fit too. But popularity wise it makes sense for Gohan to get a figure.
It does make sense in the simplest of jokes. It's a simple joke with like 2 layers to it, and that's it. It makes perfect sense. I don't think I need to explain why it does, nor should I since having a topic on a stupid joke is silly.
Which means nothing to the joke. Though really popularity wise I wouldn't even be so sure. Especially considering if he was so popular to the market, he'd probably get more screen time instead of being overshadowed by even Goten and Trunks of all people. Heck the reason that's the figure in particular, is because that point in time was iconic. Not because Gohan is really popular now. He was really popular at that point in time, but dropped off according to polls back then. I'd be more surprised if they had a Super or more likely Boo arc figure.
He was first back then but every poll I've seen boo arc onwards (official and non official) has him as 3rd most popular. And popularity doesn't mean anything it Toriyama doesn't want him in the story which is starting to look like the case. You can see toei trying putting a focus on him where they can. For example, if that training scene was filler then it's because he's so popular

First around the closing of the Cell arc and beginning of the Boo arc, and then heavily dropped as the Boo arc went on according to official polls. He then went up again around the 2000's but I don't know where he is now. If he was so popular and marketable, he'd not be getting less screen time than Goten and Trunks, who don't really do anything. I think that shows more than anything else when if he was so popular and marketable, he'd not be completely overshadowed by the kid squad that never grow up, or do anything worth of note. They market Goten and Trunks more than they market him, and for no reason at all.

Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

What do you mean by heavily dropped? Because for the life of me I can't see any evidence of him being less popular than 3rd place. Goten and trunks are marketable because the creators think they appeal to the kid demographic and besides with how goofy super has been they're nice characters to have around. Not because they were ever more popular. With the way super has been treating gohan they might get to that point or maybe they already have but before super it was clear that gohan was more popular.

Weekly Jump as the series progressed. Around when Cell blew up, Gohan was 1st. Around when Bootenks beat the crap out of Gohan, he wasn't even in the top 5 no more, and fell off in popularity. Then in DBForever I believe he went up again.
Gotenks was more popular than Gohan in weekly jump, as was Trunks and Piccolo as around the Boo arc closing. There is no denying that if Gohan was so popular still, he'd be getting a hell of a lot more screen time and marketing. There's no reason to not do anything with him, if the market would benefit them if he was profitable. Apparently he isn't profitable as they do nothing with him. It's more profitable to show Goten and Trunks than it is him. If he'd bring in more profits and attention than Goten and Trunks, they'd use him more. But Goten and Trunks are worth more than Gohan is, hence a lot more screen time is dedicated to them. Why sacrifice profit for no reason, just to have more Goten and Trunks? The goal is to get more money, not less.

Gohan is just a 1 hit wonder like I mentioned on here before. Toriyama obviously does not really care about him at all right now given the evidence we have right now from Super and Toriyama's interviews.

What's dB forever and what was he ranked then? And honestly this surprising to me, I've seen much more Gohan fans than piccolo or kid trunks ones. I wonder if the western audience is much different in that aspect. I wonder if saiyaman was to blame for his downfall xD. I still don't think his popularity has anything to do with his relevance in super though. I mean technically he was given around equal ttention in bog, and more in the ROF, and Champ arc. In rof he actually did the fighting and got character development. Goten and trunks just watched until they got murdered. Champa arc he had his own fight scene and was considered to be on the fighting list. Trunks and goten were just audience members in the end (I don't remember if they got any good lines?I'm pretty sure Yamcha was more talkative. ) It's only now that they're getting more screen time (especially trunks). It seems like toriyama simply doesn't want goten, Trunks and Gohan fighting. And in non fighting situations, goten and trunks are going to be easier to write. You can have them having their cool adventures or gags while Gohan would probably just be studying. Thsts why I think their age ( why they haven't grown) and their adventures are the reasons they get more screen time. Also, I'm pretty sure both tori and toei know that Gohan can easily be made into a popular character again if given screen time and power ups. So the fact he isn't being given any seems to be a creative choice
