From the teaser it looks like it'll be the same and if it's more i doubt it'll be that much.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

But a teaser is just a teaser. BoG's teaser looked more visually impressive and I doubt DB15 will look worse.

Though, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. We're talking about Toei, after all.

Plus didn't the Government of Japan put some money into BoG, or something like that? Doubt they'll do it again, but maybe. :)

Do you really think they haven't started on the animation yet YBM? :o That's crazy considering how disney and pixar work on films, even when they weren't CGI, or am I wrong on that too?

I'm surprised we don't have a character designer listed yet. That was one of the earlier things BOG had released by this time that year. I so badly want someone who isn't Yamamuro and is good to do the designs, his art's gone so down hill since Z.

Thank you! It came about from the Toei SMC and Kai thread; it's parody art I made in Crystal's style.

This lack of information is making me really worried about the movie in general. :?

I really hope they are just keeping everything under wraps for a big surprise. I'd hate if they rush things. :V

The 2013 film has a better looking teaser, yet it still wound up being rushed with few cuts handled by talented key animators. The teaser for the 2015 film is rushed and nowhere near as good as the teaser we got for the 2013 film.

The money from the Japanese government was for promoting Kami to Kami overseas, not the actual film budget.

Japanese cartoons do not usually have long production schedules. A single episode usually has a production schedule of between one-and-three months. There are 170 animated series that have aired in Japan this year alone, so a lot of animators are all constantly busy working on many different series. Obviously once someone has made a commitment to working on one series it would be impolite to jump ship before they have finished their work.

The last word we heard was that Toriyama was still working on the story and characters, but that was in July. We haven't heard anything since then. Unless that message was already outdated by the time it was published I don't have high hopes for the visuals.

Who knows, maybe that message was already long out of date when it was published and Yamamuro Tadayoshi had already been in the middle of key animation using animators from his studio or even doing a lot of key animation himself. I doubt it, though.

Pretty sure the parts with Shenlong talking in the teaser was actually mostly stock footage from BOG. I think more effort went into the BOG teaser because it was the first DB movie in 17 years and they wanted to celebrate that fact and really get people hyped up for it. This movie doesn't have anything like that to build off of, apart from the momentum that BOG has created for it. I have to imagine that a bit of the money made from the previous movie went straight to the budget for this film and I'm really hoping that Japan will respond to it with similar excitement to BOG.

In terms of the lack of news, I wouldn't be too worried. I've kinda just taken the stance of, "wait and it'll happen." Fairly certain that November is the month though, then there'll be a short break over Christmas and the new year. And once things get started again, it will not stop. I think people tend to forget how outrageous those early months of 2013 were. To add to that, this film is also due out in Golden Week, which seems to be about a month later than when BOG came out two years prior.

On a side not, the movie has been mentioned in a few articles recently, but it's mostly been just in passing:

We are not going to have Ultimate Blast type animation for 2015 Dragon Ball Z movie. Especially given what JulieYBM has said about Japan broadcasting over 170 shows this year. Most of animators from DBZ's heyday has moved on to the other shows. Only few remained.

I firmly believe that the animated Ultimate Blast opening is the last time we will be seeing an animation this good for a long while.

Most animators from Dragon Ball's heyday are not even good anymore. Shida Naotoshi, Tate Naoki, Iwane Masa'aki and Tamagawa Akihiro are the only ones that really improved in the years since. Tate was nowhere to be seen in Kami to Kami and by all appearances nobody who worked on the previous film seem to have connections with the Studio Cockpit guys like Iwane or Tamagawa. With how many episodes a year Iwane solos for Pocket Monster (eight so far in 2014) he probably wouldn't break from the series unless a friend needed him or it was for Uchuu Senkan Yamato. Shida seems to be working out of a temporary building at Toei Animation, so he's probably still on-hand to work on this 2015 film, unless he doesn't want to work on it. Last I checked he was working on layouts for PreCure, so I assume he's going to be working on the finale for HappinessCharge PreCure or will be doing a lot of BANK animation for the new series.

That explains why HaCha relies so heavily on cgi transformations/attacks! All this time I thought they were trying to be stylish or something when really they were probably just saving money that could've been spent on animators.

That feels like it makes sense. I don't know if my guess above is true, but it feels like it could be.

Toei Animation has been trying to push their CG department, but the main issue has been a lack of available talent and time. Itaoka Nishiki is arguably the 'main animator' for HappinessCharge PreCure, devoting all of his time and effort to the series despite its short schedule. When he isn't doing key animation for the series he goes home and draws incredible fan art that he posts on Twitter and Pixiv. On the official website for Studio Live--the studio Itaoka is an actually employed by--he has said his dream is to be able to do an episode as the sole key animator and animation supervisor.

I've had his twitter favorite'd for a while (*has no account there*) it's really cool. He's definitely someone who has a passion for drawing and it really shines through his art.

Here's a calendar of merchandise releases for Dragon Ball over the next few months, all the way up through to July.

Higher quality figure, higher than DXF (and DXF is usually very good).

I wouldn't be corned by the lack of any news. Information on the newest Naruto movie only started rolling out at the end of July and that comes out at the start of December so that's only a four and a half month window.
