Well, apparently it's based off a Street Fighter piece, and Son's positioning would make him Ryu, so if you know anything about Ryu... he's slightly less packed than a tank. Thus the crazy arms and such.

And for the pic itself, it's really skillfully done (Trunks and Yam especially are -amazing- as are all the technical aspects) but it just bothers me that Pic looks like less of a person than a large yellow boat.

EDIT Hey, I got new stuff scanned ^^
Ranchi being adorable

And a piece that needs a little more explanation..

My brother and I have a running joke that S'no is secretly Yoko Littner as a child, based off the epic bit of filler where little S'no hefts up this massive shotgun type thing and aims it at the back of Daimaou's head. It amuses me, so thus the silliness.

Nice sketches, velasa! Keep em coming!

I've seen this image floating around the web for like a decade, and I've always wondered: Is it fan-made?

Huh. Cuz it looks a helluva lot like this Toriyama-drawn peice from the end of DBZ:

I think that's GT's version of it... in fact, it's right out of Blue Velvet.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Ah. So it is. Both of my GT Perfect File books arrived just now, and flipping through them briefly I saw that pic more than a couple times. I guess it is official! I just thought it was some fan tweaking the end-of-Z pic.

Velasa! Is your avatar picture a Nameckian smoking a cigarette??? That is so badass. I'd really like to see the original/full picture if you have it.

It's Piccolo.

Oh man. The only way it could possibly be more badass is if it was actually a joint. 8) Where does that picture come from?! Are there any more pix of DB characters smoking? (besides Bulma, I already know about that one) I vaguely recall there being some instances of pipe and cigar smoking in the manga/anime, but I'm not sure.

All of my icons come from my favorite doujinshi series (AUN by Taku Fusamichi), a Mirai universe where the last three survivors are teenaged Gohan, little Trunks, and Piccolo the chain-smoking hardass. It's all kinds of awesome :D

I'll put up a few shots of him from it standing around being sexy ^^ Just gimme a few min.

(Internet magic ahoy)

Ok, so here are the full shots of Pic I've used for avatars so far
Image
All head shots here, not full bodies- they zoom in better and make better avatars.

And I'll toss in a color pic too, one of the covers of the series
Image
Gorgeous. I love these books.

I scanned a few more loose pieces, but probably shouldn't fill the post with my further drooling over the man so I'll just link it ^^;

Wow, that looks really awesome. I'd love to read that sometime, but I'd probably have difficulty getting my hands on it.

Piccolo's such a wonderful influence on Trunks, isn't he?

Ebay is your friend! Last time I went hunting on there I actually found a nice collection of ACT books in the listings, I was pleasantly surprised. It was all books I already owned though, I'm still missing maybe three of the ones I really want and can never manage to find.

Well, one can be more concerned about influences when you're not being hunted down by murderous androids, eh?

Funny thing is I actually loathe smoking. With the circumstances of the story and what I've been able to derive about his personality following the books though, that sort of offhand self-destructive behavior just seems fairly appropriate for him there.

Thanks for the images, Velasa! Wow, that doujin has gotta be one of the best-looking I've ever seen for Dragon Ball. Gotta check that out sometime!

Piccolo's enjoying a marlboro, I don't think they know too much about the show period.

Maybe if I could read the books that would help, but it's sort of in Japanese and I can only read like five words of that that aren't people's names.

I don't really care either way, it's just a fun fan work. I love the art, I love what I can follow of the plot, and Pic's so damn gorgeous the way they draw him I could care less about plot holes.

Some old art I dusted off. Maybe I'll start drawing again, I miss those times.

DBZ MAN your last drawing really made me smile for some reason :).
Actions have reactions so don't be quick to judge, you may not know the hardships that people don't speak of.
