Don't count on it, it's never happened before and the episode will be a rather slow start to a big arc so it likely won't hit hard like Goku Black's first episode did

That number is probably because of the nostalgia effect of Goku and Krillin training again under Roshi.
I saw some people really happy for that. But ratings are unpredictable in any case.

Fantastic number anyway!!

It happened before, It can happen now, really hard though, but not impossible.

They were tied, one didn't beat the other. With Kai I think they beat One Piece a few times but with Super it's never happened

What are the odds that an episode with one of the highest ratings in the show's run ended up having an unannounced preview for the next arc? That worked out nicely for Toei.

I'm staggered by that rating. I truly am. Can't believe a filler episode would score that high of a rating. Perhaps the advertisement of Freeza and Cell returning had something to do with it.

Only hardcore fans read those previews. And Cell isn't that popular in Japan.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.

You're underestimating the power of Krillin.

Does it really matter if something is a filler or not? I don't think Japan cares so much that they purposely skip filler episodes. I don't understand why people say, "Wow, the ratings are so high for a filler episode!" like it's supposed to mean something.

They're all episodes of the show.

Fillers really only have any impact when they came in huge numbers, and when they are not good(most of them aren't).
Just one filler alone doesn't mean much in terms of what rating it will get. The decline has more to do with people getting tired and getting the knowledge that the episodes in the end don't even matter for the overall of the series and specially for later.

Dragon Ball Super doesn't have a source material, so I don't even think people will consider any episode filler/original episodes. There is no knowledge that what is used in one of those episodes will not matter later.

Placing precita's message into perspective, Dragon Ball Super's primary audience is young children. While it's foolish to claim children don't notice intermediary arcs, I believe it's equally neglectful to forget they'll likely continue watching something they enjoy, even if it's not the "main content". As a child, I wasn't worried about continuity unless I felt something was blatantly nonsensical. In that event, I discussed it with my friends & we moved on to the next episode instead of lingering behind the meaning of it.

With that 7.6 I'm now curious how the next two episodes will behave.

The next one it's still about Goku and Krillin and some people may watch it just to see if there's a new trailer in the end too.
The other will be the official start of the next arc + debut of the new Opening.

I wonder if it will beat FT Trunks arc debut. That 8.4 of episode 47 still feels like such a abnormality.

I know there's a separate thread for it but is it worth me putting the US ratings alongside the others?

In the other thread they aren't being updated in the OP so they could be hard to find in the long run of things. Just an idea.

No. There are designated threads for a reason. Unless a mod says otherwise, then I'm a dumbass lol.

You should just update the original post in your topic with the latest TV ratings like this thread does. It is handy for people interested in knowing the ratings as they won't need to browse the thread page-by-page to see the rating of a specific episode.

Most people here are only interested in japanese tv ratings, because it's what matter the most in the big scheme of things.
The dubs ratings have their own threads, so I say no.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Woof. Quite a dip from last week. So much for Krillin being a draw.
